Race 1: QEBS QTIS 3yo CG&E Maiden Plate – 1000m
 
ANGELS OF FENWAY -  Became fractious in the gates.
 
INVINCIBLE FAITH – Slow to begin.
 
NICK THE SKIP – Began awkwardly, almost dislodging its rider. When afforded the opportunity to comment on the performance, jockey J. Orman stated that after almost being dislodged at the start he was obliged to settle further back than he expected. He added that, in his opinion, this had a bearing on horse’s overall performance and would be better suited when able to settle further forward.   A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.
 
PADDLEPOP – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
 
LOVE YA BLUE – Raced keenly in the early stages. Had to be restrained from heels near the 700m. Hung out rounding the home turn.
 
ACKER’S WAY – Had to be eased when placed in restricted room near the 500m and brushed the rail. Laid in under pressure in the home straight, placing its rider at a disadvantage. Rider dropped his whip near the 200m.
 
 
 
Race 2:  Impact Floors QTIS 3yo Fillies Maiden Plate – 1000m
 
RAPIDO SHOW – Reluctant to load into the barriers. Connections were advised that a warning would be placed on the filly’s barrier manners. Initially slow to begin and was then tightened for room at the start and lost ground. Lost its near hind plate in running.
 
DECISIVE HEART – Began awkwardly and was hampered at the start by WOMAN OF GOLD, which shifted out abruptly.  Raced wide without cover throughout.
 
ME AS I AM – Bumped on the hind quarters at the start.
 
SERPENTI – Near the 600m when overracing had to be steadied when placed in restricted room.
 
VILLENEUVE LADY – Leaving the 600m commenced to overrace and had to be restrained from heels near the 500m. Held up briefly in the early stages of the home straight.
 
ELITE GREY – When racing extremely wide near the 500m, jockey Stanley elected to restrain to obtain cover.
 
STEPPED IN PAINT – Near the 500m had to be restrained from the heels of VILLENEUVE LADY. Had some difficulty obtaining clear running in the early stages of the home straight  when racing greenly and laying inwards.
 
BOLD ENCHANTMENT – Laid out briefly upon entering the home straight.
 
WOMAN OF GOLD – Raced wide without cover throughout.
 
AQUAGEM – Raced wide without cover throughout.
 
 
Race 3: Master Hire F&M Class 4 Plate – 1000m
 
LOVE SQUIRRELS – Blundered shortly after the start.  Raced wide with cover.
 
SPLASHETTE – Hampered shortly after the start and was then restrained to obtain a position with cover towards the rear of the field.
 
SIMPLY SO – The start of this race was delayed when the horse cast a plate and had to be replated. In the early stages had to be eased when tightened for room, and as a result was obliged to take up a position at the rear of the field. Had some difficulty obtaining clear running after passing the 200m.
 
WINNING KISS – Bumped on a number of occasions between the 800m and 600m by DINNIGAN , which shifted in. Jockey B. Stewart, rider of DINNIGAN, was reprimanded and advised to show greater care in future.
 
YOUR OPTION – Near the 700m was eased when placed in restricted room to the inside of WINNING KISS. Near the 100m had to be steadied when attempting to take a narrow run to the inside of TAPA.
 
WIRED – Raced 3 deep without cover.
 
Following this event the track rating was upgraded to Good 4.
 
 
Race 4: Audi Centre Sunshine Coast Maiden H’cap – 1600mx
 
DANETIST – Change of tactics. Connections advised that from the wide barrier the horse would be ridden further back in the field. The horse was ridden accordingly.  When racing wide in the early stages was restrained to obtain a position at the rear of the field with cover.
 
PICKA PLUM – Which slipped over in the parade ring was subsequently  examined by the veterinary surgeon behind the barriers  and cleared to start.
 
LADY ELEANOR – Hampered and lost ground at the start when tightened for room between THE INVESTIGATOR and PICKA PLUM, which after being bumped by WICKED HEIGHTS shifted in abruptly despite the efforts of its rider.
 
ONE MORE CAST – Began awkwardly and made contact with the outside barrier partition.
 
ITSALLKAY – Bumped shortly after the start and lost ground. Overraced in the early stages and near the 1400m when being restrained shifted out abruptly and lost ground. Continued to overrace for some distance and had to be restrained from heels on a number of occasions.
 
SLENDER MAN – Began awkwardly.
 
SUNDAY HALO – Commenced to hang out from the 600m and as a result took no competitive part for the remainder of the event and was eased down by its rider in the home straight.       Raced 3 wide without cover throughout. A post race veterinary examination revealed a slower than normal recovery.  Trainer T. Cotsiopoulos was advised that she must provide a  barrier certificate for the horse prior to its next race start.
 
 
Race 5:  Integrale Homes Provincial Stayers Benchmark 75 H’cap – 2400m
 
OAKFIELD MONARCH – Began awkwardly and made heavy contact with TUCANO.
 
TUCANO – Bumped heavily at the start.
 
IT AIN’T ALL HONEY – Hampered at the start when tightened for room.  Approaching the winning post on the first occasion had to be steadied when tightened for room between DUKE OF CHRISTOPHE and GALAXY GURU, which was taken in by SAVVY ACQUISITION, which shifted in when not fully clear.
 
SHE SALUTES – Began awkwardly and lost ground and as a result shifted across heels from the wide barrier to obtain a position on the rail with cover.
 
BROCSON – Commenced to overrace for a short distance near the 1300m and got its head up when being restrained. Over the concluding stages when improving was obliged to shift out and in doing so bumped IT AIN’T ALL HONEY.
 
IRON DUKE – Obliged to race 3 wide without cover leaving the 1200m and then was allowed to improve forward, however was unable to show sufficient speed to cross runners and as a result continued to race wide.
 
DUKE OF CHRISTOPHE – Approaching the 500m had to be steadied when awkwardly placed at the heels of the weakening IRON DUKE.  Near the 400m had to be steadied when tightened for room between IRON DUKE and GOLD AMBITION, which shifted out. Jockey M. McGillivray, rider of GOLD AMBITION, was advised to exercise more care.
 
 
Race 6:  Coast Life Homes Winter Provincial Sprinters Series (Heat) Benchmark 75 H’cap – 1200m
 
CONQUERING LASS – Began awkwardly. Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
REAL EGO – Began awkwardly, then had to be steadied from the heels of TARDIS, which shifted out.
 
HI HARRY – Near the 1100m had to be eased when awkwardly placed at the heels of DREAM KISSES.  Approaching the 1000m commenced to overrace and shifted in, making contact with DREAMSCOPE, then shifted out and had to be steadied when awkwardly placed at the heels of MOTION GRANTED, which shifted in. A post race veterinary examination revealed a laceration to the near fore cannon.  The horse was treated on course by the veterinary surgeon.
 
YABA DABL DOYA – Held up in the early stages of the home straight, and near the 200m had to be steadied from the heels of ROSIE POSIE,   which shifted out. Jockey M. McGillivray, rider of ROSIE POSIE, was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.
 
LORD BARRINGTON – Raced 3 wide without cover for the majority of the race.
 
DEVINE SERVICE – Raced 4 wide without cover for the majority of the race.
 
VICTORY EIGHT – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
 
Race 7: OMF Benchmark 62 H’cap – 1400m
 
ROMAN DOLL – Stewards accepted the explanation for the late scratching at 7.44 am.
 
MAKATITI – Slow to begin. Raced 3 wide for the majority of the race.
 
ARISTOGRATS – Began awkwardly. Near the 1000m had to be steadied after improving on to the heels of LADY I AM.
 
MAGIC MYSTERY – Hampered at the start and lost ground.  Rounding the home turn had to be steadied and was obliged to alter course.
 
BRONZED VENOM – Began awkwardly, then restrained across heels to assume a position at the rear of the field with cover.
 
BIT OF ALRIGHT – Near the 1200m had to be steadied when placed in restricted room to the inside of THE REAL SPIEL, which was taken in by SAVVY ROCK. A short distance later BIT OF ALRIGHT was bumped when placed in restricted room to the inside of THE REAL SPIEL, which had to be steadied when awkwardly placed at the heels of DIPLOMATIC MISS.  As stewards were satisfied that this was not as a result of any carelessness from any rider, they reported the matter as a racing incident.
 
BEAU ISA – Near the 100m had to be steadied to avoid the weakening LADY I AM.
 
SAVVY ROCK – When questioned regarding the improved performance, stable representative Mr M. Hoysted explained that the gelding appreciated racing without a cross-over noseband as it had resented racing in this gear at previous starts. He added that the distance of 1400m first up today allowed the gelding to be ridden aggressively and obtain a forward position.
 
RED BALTER – Jockey N. Day reported to stewards the gelding did not appreciate today’s racing surface and over the concluding stages desisted  from continuing to pressure his mount.  Stewards will follow up with trainer A. Williamson regarding the gelding’s recovery.
 
LADY I AM – Stewards opened an inquiry into jockey J. Lloyd’s riding in the home straight. After taking evidence from jockey Lloyd, the matter was adjourned to a time and date to be fixed.  A post race veterinary examination  failed to reveal any abnormalities.
