Hanson Stewards Secretary – W. Ostrofski Race 1: ALEX SURF CLUB BM80 H’CAP – 1000M The declaration of correct weight was delayed to allow stewards to view the photo finish image for 1st placing. WUDANG BLADE – Overraced in the middle stages when being restrained to obtain cover. Race 2: PLATINUM PROPERTIES SUNSHINE COAST MAIDEN H’CAP – 1600M TYRIAN – M. Crawford was reprimanded for his use of the whip prior to the 100m. GROOVY PLAYMATE – Momentarily held up for clear running approaching the 300m. J. Byrne reported that his mount was somewhat field shy throughout the event. THE GOOD THE BAD – Obliged to race in restricted room passing the 500m. MAGIC WISHES – Restrained from the start to obtain cover. B. Ainsworth was reprimanded for excessive use of the whip prior to the 100m. I’M CHAUNCEY – Raced three wide throughout. PRUNDA – Raced three wide without cover throughout. Race 3: ASSET ELECTRICAL CLASS 4 H’CAP – 1800M KIRIANA – Slow to begin. TOBACCO ROAD – Connections advised that the horse would be ridden in the second half of the field if circumstances permit. The horse was ridden accordingly. TACTICAL MANUEVER – Slow to begin. Lost the off hind plate in running. Race 4: VANTAGE HOMES MAIDEN H’CAP – 1200M The start of this race was delayed significantly when BONNEY LORES proved difficult to load. Trainer G. Hineman was advised that the horse must obtain a further barrier certificate before starting again. AHEADOFHISTIME – Became fractious in the barriers, inspected by the veterinary surgeon and cleared to take its place in the field. Slow to begin, then had to be checked when bumped heavily by another runner shortly after the start. Overraced in the early and middle stages and had to be checked on a number of occasions to avoid heels after leaving the 1000m. Held up rounding the home turn and then was disappointed for a run and had to be steadied approaching the 300m. BRING ME SOME – Trainer M. Wilson advised that the horse would be ridden further forward if circumstances permit. M. Cahill reported that after beginning only fairly he elected to steady his mount to obtain a position closer to the fence and as a result raced at the tail of the field. RED HANA – Had difficulty securing clear running after passing the 400m and was disappointed for a run approaching the 300m, being obliged to alter course to obtain clear running at that point. BONNEY LORES – Bumped heavily on jumping away. After being held up held up rounding the home turn, had some difficulty securing clear running and was obliged to race in restricted room until approaching the 300m. BOOM ROCKER – Raced wide without cover. PINEAPPLE BOOM – Raced wide throughout. QIJI BELLEZZA – Jumped awkwardly and made heavy contact with another runner. SIZZLING DIAMOND – Slow to begin. Race 5: INGENIA HOLIDAYS RIVERSHORE RESORT 0 – 65 H’CAP – 1000M MAGIC LAD – M. Powell was fined $200 for failing to ride his mount out to the end of the race. REAL CUTE – Heavily bumped by another runner on jumping away and had to be checked. SIMPLY SO – Overraced for a short distance passing the 800m. SOUBRETTE – Severely tightened for room on jumping away and had to be checked. Hung out from the 700m and in the home straight when under pressure, placing the rider at a disadvantage. A post-race veterinary examination confirmed a small laceration to the nearside hock. SHE’S A MITZY – Jumped very awkwardly and shifted in shortly after the start, despite the efforts of its rider, interfering with other runners. Race 6: GREEN RV CLASS 1 H’CAP – 1400M CASURINA STAR, which kicked out in the barriers, sustaining a laceration to the near hind leg, was declared a late scratching at 3:44 pm by stewards acting on veterinary advice. On the announcement of correct weight stewards ordered that all monies invested on CASURINA STAR be refunded, with the following deductions to apply to successful wagers placed prior to 3:44 pm: 4 cents in the dollar for the win #13 cents in the dollar for place of winner #16 cents in the dollar for 2nd place #66 cents in the dollar for 3rd place #4 HIGHFALUTIN GAL – Jumped awkwardly and shifted in, causing tightening to other runners. CERTAIN DOUBT – Jumped awkwardly and made heavy contact with another runner. ATLANTIC ROSE – Severely checked when tightened for room at the start. Raced three wide throughout. NEWTON – Overraced in the early stages and then shifted wider from the 700m and raced wide without cover from that point onwards. GILDED LION – Shifted out at the start, inconveniencing other runners, before also being tightened for room and having to be steadied. SMOOTH CELEBRATION – Severely checked when tightened for room at the start. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a laceration to the near hind fetlock. FLIRTY MCCOY – Slow to begin. WINDQUEST – Apprentice H. Phillips was reprimanded for her use of the whip on a horse out of contention. Race 7: HQ PAINTERS CLASS 1 H’CAP – 1400M After viewing the stewards’ patrol footage, B. Stewart, the rider of 3rd placegetter AMICITIA, indicated that he did not wish to lodge an objection against the winner PICKA PLUM. Apprentice M. Wishart, the rider of HEAVENLY JOURNEY, placed 2nd by the Judge, lodged an objection against PICKA PLUM being declared the winner, alleging interference in the home straight. After taking evidence from all parties and viewing the videos stewards found that whilst PICKA PLUM shifted out under pressure and dictated the line of HEAVENLY JOURNEY momentarily near the 200m and again after passing the 100m, they were not satisfied that the interference suffered was sufficient to alter the placings, given that apprentice Wishart did not alter her riding on either occasion, and declared correct weight on the semaphored numbers. COLLISION – Commenced to overrace when the pace slackened passing the 1000m and was steadied from heels on a number of occasions approaching the 800m. IADOREYOU – Tightened for room shortly after the start and had to be steadied. DER SIEGER – Trainer S. Mackinnon advised that from the wide barrier the horse would be ridden back in the field if circumstances permit. The horse was ridden accordingly. RIVER OF LOVE – Shifted wider to improve at the 700m and raced three wide without cover from that point onwards. INFINITE SPIRIT – Slow to begin. Shifted wider at the 700m and raced three wide from that point onwards. Race 8: COASTAL BUILDING GROUP CLASS 2 H’CAP – 1200M BIRKIN BLACK – Raced three wide. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. BUBBLES’N’TROUBLES – Shifted out passing the 400m to obtain clear running and in doing so made contact with another runner. PINCH MEMORY – Connections advised that the horse would be ridden further back in the field if circumstances permit. The horse overraced in the early stages and settled in a forward position. Bumped by another runner passing the 400m. MISHANI RULER – Whilst weakening in the home straight was inconvenienced by another runner near the 200m. WOOKIEE – As R. Wiggins was to be overweight, M. Du Plessis was substituted as rider. Stewards will interview jockey Wiggins at a later date. Raced four wide without cover. Laid out rounding the home turn. MAHRATTA – Stewards accepted trainer K. Best’s explanation for the late declaration of N. Thomas as rider. Restrained from a wide alley on jumping away to obtain cover. FLIP DE GLOIRE – S. Lacy reported that her mount overraced in the early stages. ROTHFORD – Jumped awkwardly, made contact with the barrier partition and lost ground. ALL HYPE – Trainer D. Ainsworth was advised that in light of the horse’s uncompetitive performance today, it would be barred from racing at TAB venues until such time as its country form improves.
