Race 1:  South East Qld Construction Safety QTIS 3yo Maiden H’cap –
1000m

SCRUFF’N’STUFF – The start of the race was delayed when  apprentice M. Murphy was dislodged during the preliminary.  The horse cantered a short distance before being recaptured  in the enclosure.  Then underwent a veterinary examination behind the barriers and was cleared to take its place in the field. Jumped away awkwardly and lost ground. Shifted out abruptly after passing the 450m to secure clear running and as a result became unbalanced. Rider M. Murphy reported the horse raced greenly throughout.

INDIAN DREAMER – Began awkwardly and then failed to muster early speed and lost ground.  Raced wide.

RILASATO – Raced greenly from the 600m after being crossed by another runner, and then continued to race greenly until entering the home straight, at which point the gelding began to weaken.  A post race veterinary examination revealed  the horse to be lame  in the  off hind leg.  Trainer S. Mackinnon was advised that a veterinary clearance must be supplied prior to its next race start.

1400m

SOLDIERS – Jumped away awkwardly, almost dislodging its rider. Improved onto heels near the 300m, causing its rider to stop riding and shift out abruptly in order to secure clear running, and a short distance later and was unable to secure clear running until leaving the 200m. A post race veterinary examination revealed the horse was suffering from heat stress.  Trainer S. Kendrick was advised that the gelding would require a veterinary clearance prior to its next race start.
