5 cents in the dollar on the face value of win bets
6 cents in the dollar on the face value of win bets for the place
4 cents in the dollar on the face value of 2nd place bets

BETAJET – Jumped away awkwardly and lost ground.

NINE CIGARS – Began awkwardly and overraced in the early stages.

HINANO – Jumped away awkwardly and made contact with another runner. Inclined to lay in under pressure in the home straight and was obliged to steady when awkwardly placed at heels, however failed to run on in the home straight. Jockey N. Day was asked to comment on the performance of the horse. He indicated the horse did prove somewhat difficult to ride in the straight and was disappointing in the run to the line.   Trainer M. Mair reported that, in his opinion, the horse did not appreciate the short back up from its last start and he would now be sending the horse for a spell. A post race veterinary examination  failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.

EMOTIVE MOUNTAIN – Bumped on jumping away. Raced wide.

MORT DOYLE – Raced wide without cover.

Race 2:  Furphy Maiden H’cap – 2200m

CHAINSMOKER – Jumped away awkwardly.

MAJOR OAK – Jumped away very awkwardly and lost significant ground.  Raced ungenerously in the early stages before being shifted wider on the track near the 1400m and ridden forward to the lead passing the 1200m.

GILDED INSTINCT – Jumped away awkwardly.

PACIFIC CREST – Tightened for room approaching the winning post on the first occasion, and as a result was obliged to check.  Laid in for a short distance passing the 500m.

CLASSIC PEARL – Jockey L. Tarrant pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding in that at a point approaching the winning post on the first occasion he allowed CLASSIC PEARL  to shift in when not clear of  BEST FOOT FORWARD, forcing that horse to shift in, tightening the running of PACIFIC CREST, resulting in jockey M. Hellyer having to take hold of that gelding and losing ground whilst clipping the heels of BEST FOOT FORWARD.  Jockey Tarrant was suspended from riding in races for a period of 8 days, to commence at midnight, 9 November and to expire at midnight, 17 November.

BEST FOOT FORWARD – Trainer T. Haydon reported that the mare suffered a laceration to the top of the hock on the off-side consistent with having been galloped on.

Race 3:  XXXX Gold Ratings Band 0-55 H’cap – 1300m

PARIS CRYSTAL – Slow to begin and was slow into stride. Stewards asked jockey Appo to comment on the performance of the mare.  He indicated after being slow to begin his mount did not muster any early speed and he was obliged to pressure the horse  throughout the early and middle stages in order to maintain contact with the main body of the field. He added however that PARIS CRYSTAL finished off well and was doing its best work over the concluding stages. He therefore recommended to connections to step the mare  up over more ground.

DRUMS JEWEL – Had some difficulty securing clear running approaching the 200m.

TRUMPFUL – Raced wide.

DARK FORCE – Raced wide without cover.

Race 4:  Sommer’s Fuel Supplies Maiden Plate – 1300m

THE MOA FACTOR – Turned its head to the side as the start was effected, resulting in the horse losing considerable ground. Raced wide.

FIZZ – Was obliged to check from heels when overracing passing the 1000m. Approaching the 600m was obliged to steady and was forced wider on the track to avoid heels.

EL RANCHOS – Overraced in the early stages whilst being restrained from heels.  Shifted out to avoid heels near the 600m.

CALLHIMWATUWANT – Bumped by another runner near the 600m and forced wider. Raced wide. A post race veterinary examination of the horse, which finished a distant last,  failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.  Connections were advised that the horse must perform satisfactorily in an official trial in view of today’s performance.

BETTER BROTHER – Laid in under pressure approaching the 400m onwards. Jockey B. Appo reported that the gelding overraced in the early stages and hung in throughout the event.  He recommended to connections that the horse may settle better with the removal of blinkers. Raced wide without cover.

HEART OF LAURIE – Whilst weakening in the home straight laid in badly, causing its rider to be unable to place pressure on the horse at any stage from the 250m.  Connections were advised that a warning would be placed on the horse’s racing manners.

Race 5: Meredith Kitchens Class 1 H’cap – 1600m

The start of this race was delayed due to ambulance officials being required to examined a stablehand who had been injured in the tie-up stalls.

SID – Slow to begin. When overracing at the heels of SO DAPPER near the 1200m, shifted out, forcing another runner wider and then continued to overrace until approaching the 600m.

GILDED LION – Slow to begin.

SO DAPPER – Overraced when being restrained in the early stages.  Laid in under pressure in the home straight.

DEE CEE DELIGHTS – Forced wider near the 1200m and raced wide without cover from that point onwards.

MADAM LOVE – Bumped with another runner on a number of occasions near the 300m.

Race 6:  Eumundi Lager F&M Class 1 H’cap – 1000m

SEE FOR YOURSELF – Slow to begin. Overraced in the early stages for  a short distance. Raced wide.

NINEONEONE – Raced very wide throughout. A post race veterinary examination revealed the horse to be making an abnormal upper respiratory noise.  Connections were advised that a veterinary clearance must be supplied for the horse prior to the horse’s next race start.   Trainer S. Kendrick indicated the horse would now be sent for a spell.

MINI MOUNTAIN – Raced wide.

MASSABIELLLE – Raced wide.

EPIC BEL – Obliged to steady near the 450m to avoid heels. Laid in in the home straight. Raced wide.
