Race 1: Bridgestone Noosaville Class 4 H’cap – 1600m
BRYNEICH – Began awkwardly.
DREAM BUILDER – Slow to begin.
TOGA PICTA – After passing the 800m commenced to lay out and did so for the remainder of the event and raced 3 wide from that point. When asked to comment on the performance the gelding, jockey L. Tarrant explained it was not his intention to be in a forward position, however with the small field he had no choice but to race in that position. He further added having previously ridden the gelding, he is of the opinion the gelding appreciates some cover in its races and was unable to find cover today, which may have had some effect on its finishing effort.
Race 2: Noosa Heads Surf Club Class 4 H’cap – 2000m
CHARLIE’S WORLD – Began awkwardly. Passing the 1800m when positioned behind the leader commenced to overrace. At a point passing the 1600m was shifted wider on the course and ridden forward to obtain the lead passing the 1300m. Laid out under pressure over the final 200m.
RISEUPSKATING – Began awkwardly, unbalancing its rider. Lost its off fore late in running.
SHE SALUTES – Began awkwardly and shifted out. After passing the 1800m, when in a one-wide trailing position, was shifted 3 wide to improve forward to obtain the lead passing the 1600m for a short distance before allowing CHARLIE’S WORLD to cross and assume a position one-wide outside the leader. After passing the 800m was bumped on a number of occasions and forced 3 wide by MISS SARA, which was attempting to shift out to improve.
MISS SARA – Laid out under pressure over the final 200m.
ANGELA’S BEAUTY – Bumped on jumping.
Race 3: Noosa Springs Golf & Spa Resort Maiden Plate – 4yo & Up – 1200m
Correct weight was delayed to allow stewards to view the stewards’ footage of the home straight to ascertain whether there were grounds for an objection by the 2nd placegetter, Savvy Hussler, against ME MUM’S FOXY being declared the winner. Subsequently, stewards declined to lodge a protest.
KIWI SHOWGIRL – Declared a late scratching at 7.57 pm on veterinary advice after the trainer reported the mare to have an elevated temperature.
CHAMPAGNE PARTY – Stewards accepted the explanation for the late declaration of rider for the horse.
MISS TAYLOR – The start was delayed after the horse reared up, dislodging its rider, and then cantered riderless for a short distance before being captured in the 1400m chute. Was returned to the barriers, examined by the veterinary surgeon and cleared to start. Jockey R. Faehr was also cleared to fulfil his engagement.
BEANS ‘N’ RICE – Began awkwardly, unbalancing its rider.
DIVINE GOLD – Began awkwardly and shifted out. Passing the 200m had to be eased when awkwardly placed at the heels of SAVVY HUSSLER, which shifted out.
COMZELADY – Slow to begin.
SAN BERNARDINO – Bumped shortly after the start and then again passing the 1100m on a couple of occasions. Passing the 1000m, when in a trailing rearward position, raced keenly for a short distance.
SAVVY HUSSLER - Bumped shortly after the start and then again passing the 1100m bumped on a couple of occasions. Rider M. McGillivray accidently dropped his whip leaving the 200m.
Race 4: On The Beach Noosa Resort QTIS 3yo CG&E Maiden Plate - 1200m
NITROGLYCERINE – Blundered on jumping and lost ground. Approaching the 100m improved on to the heels of JUST LIKE RULER and had to be steadied.
GREAT BRAVE – Began awkwardly and became unbalanced.
CACTOBLASTIS – Bumped on jumping.
WICKED FREDDY – Bumped on jumping.
SVINDAL – Raced keenly passing the 900m.
JACKMAN LANE – Lost its off hind plate in running.
NIC NAT NUI – A post race veterinary examination revealed the horse to be lame in the off hind leg after having cast its off hind plate. It was also noted that the horse bled from the off-side nostril. Stewards advised trainer T. Gollan the gelding must complete a 1000m gallop in the presence of stewards prior to racing again.
Race 5: JD Constructions QTIS 3yo F Maiden Plate – 1200m
URALBA –Slow to begin. Passing the 1000m had to be steadied when awkwardly placed at the heels of RHUEZON.
NUCLEAR BOOM – Bumped on jumping. Approaching the 1000m was crowded for room and was bumped and became unbalanced.
CURRENT – Bumped on jumping. Shortly after the start when being restrained by its rider laid in away from TENKAYE, and then became awkward at that runner’s heels for a short distance.
Then passing the 1000m after being crossed by RED GARTER, again got its head up when restrained from heels. After passing the 600m raced greenly and laid in on several occasions despite the efforts of its rider.
RHUEZON – After starting from a wide barrier was restrained at the start to obtain a position closer to the rail at the rear of the field. Held up from the 400m until passing the 300m, and at the 200m was disappointed for a run between SAKE OF ONE and CURRENT, which shifted out before securing clear running approaching the 100m.
ABSOLUTE GLORY – Raced 3 wide with cover. When asked to comment on the performance, apprentice S. Thornton explained that even though she travelled 3 wide with cover, the filly proved disappointing in the home straight. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
SAKE OF ONE – Raced 3 wide without cover.
TENKAYE – A post race veterinary examination revealed the horse was exhibiting signs of heat stress.
Race 6: Efex Noosa Cup Magic Millions Country Cup Qualifier Open H’cap
– 1200m
THE PINES – Slow to begin.
I DREAM OF GREEN – Began awkwardly and blundered.
WEBOUGHTAZOU – Raced keenly in the early stages and positioned outside the leader.
EXCELEBRAZIONE - After being caught 3 wide and unable to obtain cover was allowed to stride forward and obtain a position outside the leader passing the 700m.
BEL BURGESS – Rounding the home turn improved on to the heels of MISHANI HONCHO and had to be shifted wider on the course.
Race 7: Coastline BMW Class 3 H’cap – 1200m
LOVE AND ROCK IT– Stewards accepted the explanation from trainer R. Heathcote for the late declaration of rider for the gelding.
CATALINA MISS – Passing the 350m had to be steadied away from the heels of the tiring THE ADMINISTRATOR.
PRINCESS CAVALLO – After passing the 200m had to be steadied when awkwardly placed at the heels of the weakening THE ADMINISTRATOR. When asked to comment on the performance, apprentice Thornton stated that after receiving some slight interference passing the 200m, the mare proved disappointing and she did not further pressure her mount as she was of the opinion that the mare’s run had come to an end. Stewards noted her explanation.
THE ADMINISTRATOR – After racing in a prominent position until passing the 400m commenced to weaken and finished at the rear of the field. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have bled from both nostrils. Connections were advised that the hose would be barred from racing for period of 3 months, and must gallop 1000m in the presence of a steward prior to racing again.
Race 8: Rudd’s Horse Transport Ratings Band 0-60 H’cap – 1400m
BIT OF ALRIGHT – Began awkwardly.
RED BALTER - Began awkwardly and then was bumped. Approaching the 600m laid in. Raced in restricted room approaching the finishing line. Apprentice A Spinks was fined $200 for using his whip more than 5 times prior to the 100m.
GYPSY’S TIP – Blundered on jumping away.
PATRIOTIC ROSE – Shortly after the start was bumped heavily by REAL ELUSIVE, which shifted in.
SCOTTISH LAD - Passing the 1300m had to be steadied when awkwardly placed at the heels of REAL ELUSIVE. Approaching the 300m improved on to heels and had to alter course to the outside to secure clear running passing the 200m. Inside the final 100m shifted out under pressure resulting in RED BALTER racing in restricted room for a short distance. Rider R. Wiggins, rider SCOTTISH LAD, was advised to exercise more care.
BULLTRUCK – Passing the 1200m resented being restrained and threw its head in the air. Passing the 600m was crowded for room by RED BALTER, which laid in.
HENRY’S ON COURSE – Held up approaching the home turn.
REAL ELUSIVE – Shortly after jumping laid in away from RED BALTER and made heavy contact with PATRIOTIC ROSE. Approaching the winning post was bumped heavily on the hind quarters by HENRY’S ON COURSE.
JUST GIVEME RUBIES – When asked to comment on the performance, apprentice M. Wishart stated it was not her intention to lead by the distance she did, however the mare overraced and refused to settle. Apprentice Wishart further added that the saddle shifted back in the middle stages, which placed her at some disadvantage during the race.
