QUEENSLAND RACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT SUNSHINE COAST TURF CLUB, SUNDAY, 12 JANUARY 2020 WEATHER – OVERCAST TRACK RATING – SOFT 5 RAIL – 4M PENETROMETER – 6.49 OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – J. WarwickStarter – R. Hanson Race 1: Number One Quality Homes QTIS 2yo H’cap - 1000m EXALTED – Reared as the start was effected and lost ground. When asked to comment on the performance of the colt, which tailed the field throughout, apprentice J. Huxtable indicated that his mount raced greenly and was obliged to pressure EXALTED in the middle stages in an attempt to improve, and that the horse would take improvement from the race experience. Trainer C. Munce was advise that a warning would be placed on the gelding’s competiveness. MOONAN ME – Bumped heavily on jumping away, was forced to steady and lost ground. When overracing passing the 700m improved into a tight position near the 600m and had to be steadied, and was again steadied from heels near the 550m. Laid in under pressure after passing the 400m. MISHANI FRAUDSTER – Jumped away awkwardly, bumping another runner. The saddle shifted back shortly after the start. MAGIC DELTA – Was bumped by another runner on jumping away and shifted out. A post race veterinary examination revealed a poor post-race recovery. MISHANI BLING - A post race veterinary examination of MISHANI BLING which weakened noticeably over the 300m, failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. Trainer L. Ross was advised that warning would place on the gelding’s competitiveness. Race 2: Contrack Hydraulics Pty Ltd QTIS 3yo Maiden H’cap – 1600m ARJAYAR – Declared late scratching at 3.36 pm on veterinary advice after becoming fractious in the barriers and getting its near hind leg caught in the back barrier gate, sustaining minor lacerations. Subsequent to the event all monies invested on the gelding were ordered to be refunded with the following deductions applicable. 5 cents in the dollar on the face value of win bets6 cents in the dollar on the face value of win bets for the place 6 cents in the dollar on the face value of 2nd place bets7 cents in the dollar on the face value of 3rd place bets CHEEKY CHOPS – Slow to begin. Overraced in the early stages and had to be checked from heels near the 1300m. DOMO – Jumped away awkwardly and lost ground. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. MISSILE MANIA – Steadied from heels shortly after the start. DEPENDABLE NITE – A post race veterinary examination of the filly, which weakened badly from the 600m, failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. Trainer K. Lees advised that in light of today’s performance the horse would be sent for a spell and the stable would consider the horse’s immediate racing future. Race 3: Kerry’s Korner Shop CG&E Maiden H’cap – 1200m MENDED – Jumped away awkwardly and lost ground. DORISS – Jumped away awkwardly, bumping another runner. Improved on to heels near the 700m, had to be steadied before shifting wider on the track and as a result raced 3 wide without cover until approaching the 500m. EMPIRE GAMES – Bumped by another runner on jumping away. OUTBACK GLADIATOR – Laid out under pressure in the home straight. Apprentice J. Huxtable was reprimanded for raising his whip arm above shoulder height. Race 4: Neil Mansell Concrete F&M Maiden H’cap – 1200m JOMERA – Trainer S. Kendrick was fined $100 for failing to declare a rider for the filly by the prescribed time. Overraced for a short distance passing the 700m. Obliged to alter course passing the 400m in an attempt to secure clear running, and then continued to have difficulty obtaining clear running whilst hanging in for the remainder of the event until near the 50m. MORE SHOTS – Slow to begin. Improved onto heels approaching the 100m and was obliged to steady and shift in to secure clear running. Apprentice B. Nothdurft reported his mount was struck over the head by another rider’s whip over the concluding stages. SONO DOLCE – Jumped away awkwardly and lost ground. Became awkward on heels and had to be steadied approaching the 400m. MISS TAYLOR – Commenced to overrace approaching the 800m and continued to do so until passing the 600m. IRISH ACE – Placed in restricted room and had to be eased after passing the 100m. ZAGITOVA – Raced wide. DENCH – Raced wide without cover. Race 5: Sunshine Coast Class 2 Plate – 1200m PORTUGUESE TART – Slow to begin. Shortly after the start was tightened for room and had to be steadied. BUZZER BEATER – Slow to begin. ZOLLIKON MISS – Jumped away awkwardly. Jockey B. Stewart was fined $300 for returning to scale overweight. MISS LIBERTAS – Was inconvenienced on jumping away. Placed in restricted room near the 200m and had to be steadied. KING MOMBASSA – Was inconvenienced on jumping away. KING OF THE NORTH – Jumped awkwardly, bumping another runner. Shied in and away from another runner over the concluding stages and became unbalanced. HARD YAGA – Overraced badly in the early stages when the pace slackened and had to be checked from heels near the 1000m and again near the 900m. Held up rounding the home turn and had difficulty securing clear running until approaching the 300m whilst the horse was inclined to lay in. Race 6: Stripe Pro Signs Benchmrk 68 H’cap – 1400m MASSTOO – Jumped away awkwardly and lost ground. Raced wide throughout without cover. GALAXY GURU – Jumped away awkwardly and lost ground, resulting in apprentice A. Thompson losing the use of his near-side iron for short distance. Stewards interviewed apprentice A. Thompson in relation to this and issued a reprimand for his failure to notify stewards of this occurrence when he weighed in. SOARING HEART – Jockey L. Cassidy reported his mount laid in under pressure in the home straight, and he further added that on return to scale his mount had its tongue over the bit. EMSIE IS A STAR – Weakened over the concluding stages. A post race veterinary examination revealed the horse to be mildly heat stressed. Trainer D. Vandyke advised stewards in light of today’s performance he would be discussing with connections the horse’s immediate racing future. Race 7: TAB Class 1 H’cap – 1600m ZOUZOUZALO – Slow to begin. Jockey Hellyer reported his mount hung out for the majority of the race and this affected his riding over the final 400m. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. Trainer K. Kemp was interviewed by stewards, he indicated he would have veterinary tests performed on the gelding in the coming days and would report any findings back to the stewards. LEOPARD QUEEN – Jumped awkwardly and commenced to overrace passing the 1400m when the pace slackened. CLEAR SAILING – Near the 1300m was placed in restricted room and was steadied. NORTHERN DRAGON – Whilst overracing in the early stages was placed in restricted room approaching the 1300m and had to be restrained from heels. Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages. Raced 3 wide without cover. HALLOWED GIRL – Had to be checked from heels approaching the 900m as a result of overracing and became awkward at heels near the 500m. BRYBECK – Raced wide throughout.
