Race 1: BILLY J BOUTIQUE QTIS 2YO H'CAP – 1300M

SUPERARE – Overraced during the early stages. Laid out under pressure over the final 150m.

WAY BEYOND – While applying the whip in the home straight, rider J. Bayliss struck the head of HAZ DE BEE near the 100m and as a result dropped his whip.

BANGERS AND MAYO – Jumped awkwardly.

HAZ DE BEE – Slow to begin. Became awkwardly placed between runners over the final 100m and as a result was unable to be fully tested by its rider.

Race 2: COASTLIFE HOMES C,G&E MAIDEN H'CAP – 1200M

BLITZEN PASTURE – Steadied when bumped by GONZO on jumping away.

ELGIN – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Overraced in the early and middle stages. Held up for clear running rounding the home turn and until the 250m.

KEEN ON GOLD – Trainer S. O’Dea was advised that a warning would be placed on the gelding’s pre-race manners. Slow to begin. Raced wide from the 600m.

I AM A BEAUTY – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Overraced in the early stages. Jockey D. Griffin was asked to comment on the performance. He stated that the horse raced greenly throughout, particularly when placed under pressure in the home straight and in his view would appreciate a step up in distance at its next start.

GONZO – Began awkwardly.

Race 3: CALOUNDRA CITY REALTY QTIS 2YO MAIDEN PLATE – 1200M

MOONAN ME – Slow to begin. After being held up for a short distance passing the 400m, attempted to secure clear running to the inside of MISTRESS OF DOOM and as a result had to be restrained when that horse shifted back towards the fence, and remained in an awkward position until approaching the 250m and as a consequence was restrained at this point of the race. Stewards inquired into this incident and were satisfied that whilst there was limited racing room to the inside of MISTRESS OF DOOM when jockey Thornton attempted to obtain this run, they were not satisfied that his actions were careless in the circumstances.

GOLDSCHLAGER – Slow to begin.

MISTRESS OF DOOM – Ridden aggressively when racing wide during the early stages to obtain the lead passing the 800m. Inclined to hang out rounding the home turn.

Race 4: ACCESS INSULATION SUNSHINE COAST F&M MAIDEN H'CAP – 1200M

The start of this race was delayed when SHERRY BABY became fractious in the barriers, was removed, underwent a veterinary inspection and was cleared to take its place in the field.

DAWN ZERO – Slow to begin. Jockey J. Taylor reported that his mount was somewhat field shy and raced very greenly throughout the event.

SHERRY BABY – Began awkwardly.

LILIVALE LIBERTY – Slow to begin.

MARY JANE – Overraced whilst leading in the early stages.

MS SPICY – Checked when tightened for room over the concluding stages. Stewards inquired into this incident and established that when racing between ANGELIC ARCHER to the outside and JUST FOR GLORY to the inside, MS SPICY was obliged to be checked when tightened for room when JUST FOR GLORY shifted out and away from EURO ROCKSTAR, which shifted out under pressure over the final 100m.

SCANTILY CLAD – Began very awkwardly and lost ground. Raced wide throughout.

EURO ROCKSTAR – Shifted out under pressure over the final 100m.

OLYMPIC DAWN – Raced in restricted room shortly after the start. Raced wide without cover.

MISS LIBERTAS – Bumped heavily on jumping away.

Race 6: CALOUNDRA CITY AUTOS C,G&E BENCHMARK 58 H'CAP – 1200M

The start of this race was delayed when HOT SOCK proved difficult to load.

ALL TO DO – After being crossed by COMBAT KID passing the 900m, commenced to overrace and then hung out badly from the 800m, forcing BELLE’S PLUCK wider on the track. ALL TO DO then raced wide from that point onwards and took no competitive part in the remainder of the event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer S. Kendrick was advised that the horse must officially trial prior to its next start.

BAMBALAM – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.

BELLE’S PLUCK – Forced wider from approaching the 800m and raced wide from that point onwards.

Race 7: SAMIOS PLUMBING F&M BENCHMARK 58 H'CAP – 1200M

IN HER ZONE – Checked when tightened for room at the start. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Apprentice A. Patis reported to stewards that it had been her intention to ride the horse in a more forward position, however, after receiving interference at the start she was obliged to settle at the tail of the field.

MISS SWITZERLAND – Slow to begin.

SKYE AND ME – Shifted in abruptly at the start and made heavy contact with IN HER ZONE. Raced wide throughout the event and without cover from the 700m.

VENI VIDI VICI – Held up until the 200m. Stewards questioned trainer J. Aitkenhead regarding the seemingly improved performance. Ms Aitkenhead stated that she agreed that the horse’s most recent form has been disappointing, adding that as a result the horse was sent for a short spell and was freshened up. She felt that both the shorter distance and drop in class of tonight’s event had a positive effect on horse’s performance. Ms Aitkenhead added that in light of tonight’s performance she would look to keep the horse fresh between runs. Stewards noted the explanation.

HAYATE – Obliged to race in restricted room near the 900m and was steadied.

SINISTER PRINCESS – J. Taylor was fined $100 for excessive use of the whip prior to the 100m.

REAL ELUSIVE – Began very awkwardly and lost significant ground. Raced wide throughout.

RED RAFFLE – Raced wide without cover throughout.

HIDDEN SECRET – Laid in abruptly near the 500m, became unbalanced and was steadied. Continued to lay in and near the 300m had to be restrained from the heels of MISS AMANDA, which shifted out slightly.

PIGINARKI – Slow to begin. Near the 300m improved on to the heels of HIDDEN SECRET, which lost ground when being steadied, and as a result was obliged to alter course to avoid heels.

Race 9: CRICKS 25TH ANNIVERSARY BENCHMARK 60 H'CAP – 2200M

Trainer S. O’Dea was fined $100 for failing to declare B. Thornton as the rider of DON’T DESPAIR by the prescribed time.

JOY’S REWARD – Raced wide in the early stages until the 1200m.

MULETA – Placed in restricted room near the 450m when racing to the inside of JOY’S REWARD and to the outside of DON’T DESPAIR, which shifted out in an attempt to obtain clear running. B. Thornton, the rider of DON’T DESPAIR, was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances. Weakened in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination found no abnormalities. Jockey M. Hellyer reported that in his opinion the horse had raced very flat and had come to the end of its preparation. Connections advised that it is now the stable’s intention to send the gelding for a spell.

DON’T DESPAIR – Became awkward when attempting to secure clear running near the 450m in order to improve where there was insufficient room and as a result became unbalanced.

SANTARENE – Began awkwardly. Steadied when awkwardly placed to the inside of the heels of DON’T DESPAIR near the 450m.
