Race 1: ARC UTILITIES MANAGEMENT QTIS Three-Year-Old Maiden Handicap 1000 metres
 
The start was delayed when SMART STAR PRINCE became fractious in the barriers, dropping its head and dislodging its rider. Rider S Cormack suffered no apparent injury from this incident.
 
DISCO LIGHTS (NZ) – Tightened for room between runners near the 700m and lost ground. Rider T Harrison reported that in her opinion the gelding did not appreciate the soft 7 track conditions.
 
GEKKO – Raced three wide with cover throughout.
 
KING OF THE COAST- Began awkwardly, shifted in, and bumped SMART STAR PRINCE. Improved onto the heels of SMART STAR PRINCE and had to be steadied near the 250m.
 
SMART STAR PRINCE – Began awkwardly, bumped KING OF THE COAST and lost ground.

STERLINGTON – Near the 300m shifted out away from THE DIAMOND, which shifted wider to improve.
 
THE DIAMOND – Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Had difficulties obtaining clear running until the 250m.
 
ROUGH CUT JEWEL – Raced three wide without cover throughout. When placed under pressure in the home straight was inclined to lay in.
 
QUEEN ANN –Trainer J Murdoch advised Stewards that the filly had a foot abscess and therefore was subsequently declared a late scratching at 8:00am on veterinary advice.
 
Race 2: HIGGINS COATINGS Colts, Geldings and Entires Maiden Handicap 1000 metres
 
LUCASTAIRE – Slow to begin. Tongue tie became partially detached in running.
 
DERUMOR-Trainer B Ahrens was fined $200 under the provisions of LR67 for failing to declare a rider by the prescribed time.
 
ZEBEDABADOO – Began awkwardly.
 
GO GETTER – Became awkward in its stride near the 600m. Raced wide for the majority.
 
NOBLE ARTIST –Trainer T Thomas reported that the gelding was resuming from a long spell due to a near fore tendon injury. Subsequently underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was passed suitable to start. Began awkwardly. Tightened for room shortly after the start.
 
Race 3: ARCHERS THE STRATA PROFESSIONALS BENCHMARK 65 Handicap 1200 metres
 
ANDY'S A STAR –As the gelding had not raced since March 2019, underwent a pre-race veterinary examination, and was passed suitable to start. Slow to begin.
 
BETTER THAN GROOVY – Slow to begin.
 
ONE MORE CAST – Held up for a short distance rounding the home turn. When asked to comment, rider S Thornton stated that trainer S Kendrick had been disappointed with the manner in which the gelding had been finishing of late. Rider S Thornton advised that she elected to be neutral on jumping and settle in a midfield position in an attempt to ensure the gelding finished off. Trainer S Kendrick confirmed the instructions.
 
CONCEALED DYNAMITE – Failed to muster early speed.
 
Race 4: STRATA COMPLIANCE SOLUTIONS Class 1 Handicap 1400 metres
 
The start was delayed when PHOENIX RAIDER proved difficult to load.
 
GOLDNEALA – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Held up rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the home straight. A post-race swab was taken for analysis.
 
PETITE PROMISE - Inclined to lay in proving difficult to ride out in the home straight.  Unable to obtain clear running until near the 350m.
 
GLOBAL CHOICE – Rider J Orman reported that his instructions were to ride the mare with cover, however with the moderate tempo his mount commenced to over race and therefore improved to race outside the leader near the 1000m.
 
RED GARTER – Raced keenly when being restrained in the early stages.
 
Race 5: HYNES Colts, Geldings and Entires Maiden Handicap 1400 metres
 
SOUTH SANTO – Slow to begin. Near the 1200m improved onto heels when over racing and shifted wider.
 
AUSSIE MYTHOLOGY – Bumped at the start. Raced ungenerously when being restrained in the early stages. Rider D Smith accidently dropped his whip near the 150m. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
BLONDE 'N' READY – Near the 700m when placed under pressure put in several awkward strides, shortly after its rider elected to ease it out of the event. Rider B Thompson reported the gelding felt very awkward in its action.  A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding did not identify any abnormal findings. Trainer T Miller was advised that the gelding must trial to satisfaction of stewards prior to resuming.  
 
CAPTAIN RIDDLE – Bumped at the start. Raced wide without cover throughout.
 
ENRIQUE – Slow to begin. Inconvenienced and held up by the tiring BLONDE’N’READY approaching the home turn.
 
FROM NOW (NZ) – Began awkwardly. When the pace slackened its rider elected to improve and position outside the leader near the 1000m.
 
JUST LIKE RULER – Bounded at the start. Near the 1100m shifted out to avoid the heels of AUSSIE MYTHOLOGY, which was over racing.
 
Race 6: BOSS BUILDING MAINTENANCE Class 3 Handicap 1400 metres
 
AQUAJAK - Rider S Lacy reported that in her opinion the gelding did not appreciate the soft 7 track conditions.
 
TOO HOT TO HOLD – Slow to begin and then hampered shortly after.

TEQUILA BOOM – Rider J Lyon reported that the mare raced greenly in the home straight. Rider J Lyon was also advised to ensure that he fully tests his mount to the line.
 
SINISTER PRINCESS – Began awkwardly.
 
PATRIOTIC ROSE - Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination at the request of its rider and was cleared to start. Over raced in the early stages and proved difficult to settle. Held up approaching the home turn.
 
ZOU YORK – Raced keenly throughout.
 
AHMAH STAR – Slow to begin.
 
Race 7: THYSSENKRUPP ELEVATORS RATINGS BAND 0 - 68 Handicap 1600 metres
 
ELJETEM – Put in an awkward stride approaching the home turn.
 
JOHN BOOKE – Slow to begin. When questioned in relation its performance, trainer D Hansen explained that the gelding may not have ran out a strong 1600m and where possible he would elect to drop it back to more suitable distance. A post-race swab was taken for analysis.
 
SLAUGHTER BAY –As the gelding had not raced since July 2019, underwent a pre-race veterinary examination, and was cleared to start. When questioned in relation to the tactics adopted apprentice S Tomlinson stated that when unable to lead and cross down to the rail he was reluctant to over pressure the gelding as he was mindful that it had not started for an extended period. Stewards noted his comments.
