QUEENSLANDRACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT SUNSHINE COAST TURF CLUB SUNSHINE COAST – SUNDAY 11 OCTOBER 2020 WEATHER – Fine TRACK RATING – Good 4 RAIL – 3mPENETROMETER – 6.4 OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – J WilliamsonStewards – P McLean, J Hackett, L Hicks, E BarronClerk of Scales – J RobinsonJudge – P Chilton, W Ellis Veterinarian – S McGinness Swab Attendants – K Warwick, A SchofieldStarter – R Hanson Race 1: ALFIES EVENT HIRE Maiden Plate 2200 metres CRYPTO FIORELLI – Trainer D Batters was fined $100 under LR30 for failing to present the gelding on course by the prescribed time. PRINCE HUSSON – Change of tactics; more forward. Ridden accordingly. After being restrained commenced to race ungenerously passing the winning post on the first occasion until the 1400m and then raced three wide without cover for the remainder. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Trainer E Singh was advised that in light of today’s poor performance the horse will not be permitted to race at TAB venues until its form improves at NON-TAB venues. SOUTH SANTO – Approaching the winning post on the first occasion was tightened for room and had to be steadied. Shortly after had to be restrained and shifted out abruptly to avoid heels of PRINCE HUSSON which was restrained by its rider. A Thompson rider of PRINCE HUSSON was reprimanded under AR131(a) for the manner in which he restrained his mount. Made the 1800m turn extremely wide and then raced wide until the 700m. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Trainer M Kerr was advised that in light of today’s poor performance the horse will not be permitted to race at TAB venues until its form improves at NON-TAB venues. Race 2: PFD FOODSERVICES Fillies and Mares Maiden Handicap 1400 metres OOZES CLASS – Held up for clear running rounding the home turn. QUEEN LEAR – Began awkwardly and had to steady when placed in restricted room shortly after the start. Near the 450m improved onto heels, shifted out to obtain clear running and bumped MUTIMILLY and again near the 400m became awkward at the heels of weakening OLIVIALEX. OCTIC – Began awkwardly and bumped QUEEN LEAR. Over raced in the early stages. OLIVIALEX – A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Trainer T Thomas was advised that in light of today’s poor performance the horse will not be permitted to race at TAB venues until its form improves at non-tab venues. WELL WELL WELL – Became awkward at heels approaching the 300m when attempting to secure clear running. Rider J Bayliss dropped his whip near the 50m. Rider J Bayliss reported that the mare laid in under pressure in the home straight. CHLOE JADE – Trainer T Pascoe was fined $100 under LR30 for failing to present the mare on course by the prescribed time. MULTIMILLY- Bumped near the 450m and became unbalanced. Rider A Allen reported that the mare laid in under pressure in the home straight. Race 3: GARRARDS HORSE AND HOUND Class 4 Handicap 1000 metres MICK THE HAT – Slow to begin. WRITTEN WITH EASE – Began awkwardly. When asked to comment on performance which was below market expectations Rider T Harrison stated that prior to the event her pre-race plan was to lead if the horse began well. However, after beginning awkwardly she elected to take a position settling behind the leaders. She added that when rounding the home turn she placed the gelding under pressure it did not quicken and that she was reluctant to ride aggressively in the early stages as she had ridden the mare aggressively in its most recent start and felt that it had a detrimental affect on the horses finishing efforts. She further added that the horse may appreciate a step up in distance. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Race 4: ALL PEST QLD Class 4 Handicap 1400 metres V J DAY – Laid out under pressure in the home straight. METAMORPHIC – Inclined to lay in passing the 600m. ENTERPRISE JACK – A post-race veterinary identified the presence of blood in one nostril. Trainer M Lakey was advised that the gelding shall before racing again be required to undergo a satisfactory gallop of at least 1000m in the presence of a Steward. FEDERAL AGENT – Slow to begin. Over raced for a short distance when being restrained to obtain cover near the 1200m. THUMBS UP – Slow to begin. ZOUZOUZALO – Slow to begin. Race 5: HENZELLS AGENCY Class 1 Handicap 1800 metres GOLDEN MISSILE – When questioned in relation to the seemingly disappointing performance rider L Dittman stated that in his opinion the mare did not handle the step up in distance to 1800m as he was of the view that the horse was travelling strongly approaching the home turn however when asked to respond the mare failed to run on. SPURIOUS – Began awkwardly and made contact with BRYBECK. BRYBECK – Tightened for room on jumping and lost ground. RIVER OF LOVE – Slow to begin. Race 6: TAB CREATE YOUR SPRING CALENDAR OF PLAY QTIS Three-Year-Old Maiden Plate 1000 metres BETTER NOT BLINK – Raced wide throughout. DOMINANT KING – Shifted in near the 800m and heavily bumped LADY SHANGHAI. Raced wide without cover throughout. HALCYON DAYS – Near the 800m buffeted between runners and became unbalanced when racing in restricted room. MAGIC IN ME – Raced wide throughout. RAISE DA VIBRATION – Trainer D Hansen was fined $200 under LR67 for failing to declare ride by the required time. Raced extremely wide without cover throughout. BETTER GET SET - Near the 800m buffeted between runners and became unbalanced when racing in restricted room. ELA BEACH - Trainer M J Dunn was fined $200 under LR67 for failing to declare ride by the required time. Post- race veterinary examination revealed a laceration to the near hind pastern. Commenced to hang out from the 700m and made the home turn wide. LADY SHANGHAI – Near the 800m bumped heavily by another runner and became unbalanced. Shifted out and checked from the heels of DOMINANT KING near the 700m after racing in restricted room. As a result of this incident B Thompson the rider of DOMINANT KING was charged under AR131(a) as stewards alleged that his mount shifted in and tightened LADY SHANGHAI at that point. After considering rider B Thompsons defence to the charge stewards could not be satisfied that he could be found solely responsible and found him not guilty of the charge. MISS BARTY – Raced wide throughout. DEVIL - Raced extremely wide without cover throughout. ZOU ZOU KACANARKIS – Slow to begin. SQUARE DANCE – Tightened for room shortly after the start and lost ground. Held up for clear running and until leaving the 300m. Race 7: TAB CREATE YOUR SPRING CALENDAR OF PLAY QTIS Three-Year-Old Maiden Plate 1000 metres SWAN ISLAND – Raced wide throughout. Forced wider on the track leaving the 500m. HEDLEY'S LADY – Near the 900m over raced when being restrained. Raced three wide without cover throughout. Commenced to weaken from the 600m and finished a distant last. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to have mild thumps. Trainer S Mackinnon was advised that the horse must trial prior to racing again. KOKOPO KITTY- Near the 900m over raced when being restrained. Raced four wide without cover throughout. PETITE PROMISE – Tightened for room at the start and lost ground. Near the 900m bumped heavily and then commenced to over race near the 800m and shifted out to avoid heels inconveniencing runners to its outside and raced three wide from that point onwards. VENI VIDI VICI – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination at the request of its rider and was passed suitable to race. COURTING VERITY – Began awkwardly and made heavy contact with another runner. Improved onto heels near the 600m and had to be steadied. Held up for clear running from the home turn until leaving the 300m. GLOBAL CHOICE – Tightened at the start and lost ground. Overreacted when placed in restricted room near the 900m and as a result shifted in making heavy contact with PETITE PROMISE. Bumped and forced wider near the 700m and raced extremely wide from that point onwards. FIGHTING FAITH - Bumped and forced wider near the 700m and raced extremely wide from that point onwards. MANHATTANITE – As the mare had not raced since September 2019, underwent a pre-race veterinary examination, and was passed suitable to race. Slow to begin. LOVE MY SUPER – Began awkwardly and made heavy contact with another runner. Passing the 500m improved onto the heels of weakening HEDLEY'S LADY as a result shifted out abruptly forcing SWAN ISLAND wider on the track. TACTICAL MANUEVER - Rider N Thomas was reprimanded under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip on seven occasions prior to the 100m, which is two more than permitted.
