MISHANI PHAROAH – Raced three wide with cover throughout. Bumped heavily at the start and lost ground. Rider M Du Plessis reported the gelding raced greenly throughout the event, particularly when placed under pressure in the home straight.

OBLIQUE – Rider B Northdurft reported he would have preferred to have settled in a more forward position, however after beginning awkwardly OBLIQUE shifted in and raced in the second half of the field, adding the leaders opened a margin on his mount resulting in the colt being held up until the 300 metres. B Nothdurft also stated OBLIQUE finished the race off strongly and was doing its best work over the concluding stages.

ORIENTAL PRINCESS – Delayed start when proved difficult to load. Stable representative for trainer G Heinrich was advised a warning would be placed on the filly’s barrier manners. Laid out under pressure in the home straight.

BUSINESS AS USUAL – Restrained from heels after passing the 700 metres.

MASAWU – Fractious behind barriers. Co-trainer J Symons was advised a warning would be placed on the mare’s pre-race manners. Jumped awkwardly and lost ground at the start. Over-raced off heels near the 1000 metres.

PURE PURGATORY -  Rider J Bayliss was questioned regarding tactics adopted in the early stages where it appeared PURE PUGATORY would settle outside the leader but rather attempted to obtain a position behind I AM A ROCKER before shifting to race outside that runner when the pace steadied near the 1000 metres. J Bayliss stated he was reluctant to apply pressure to the leader during the middle stages of the race and he was of the view his mount was travelling better than I AM A ROCKER coming to the home-turn. J Bayliss added he was disappointed with the finishing effort of the mare and that PURE PURGATORY had trialled during the week and had also started at last Sunday’s meeting on 18rd October which in his opinion may have had an effect on today’s performance. Stewards noted the explanation of J Bayliss.
