GENERAL
Due to Apprentice Sheriden Tomlinson being transported to Hospital Race 8 was rescheduled for 5.10pm.

Race 1: NORGLASS Colts, Geldings and Entires Maiden Plate 1000 metres
Trainer Matt Boland was fined $200 for failing to scratch WHITSUNDAY LAD by the prescribed time LR68.

CANNY SKATE – As the gelding had not started in a race for over 12 months, underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was passed fit to race.

HECANROCKME – Slow to begin. Held up rounding the home turn.

MOUNT HIMMLER – Rider Andrew Spinks reported the gelding did not feel comfortable in its action. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which revealed the gelding to be lame in the off fore leg. Trainer Gerry Clarke was notified that he would be required to provide a veterinary clearance prior to the horse racing or trialling again.

WHITS END - Jockey Ryan Wiggins was fined the sum of $500 under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip 7 times prior to the 100m, 2 more than permitted.

A DEVIL'S CHANCE – Slow to begin.

FASTEST TRIGGER – Rider Stephanie Lacy reported that the gelding raced greenly throughout.


Race 2: CUTEK Fillies and Mares Maiden Plate
1000 metres

As rider Ryan Wiggins was unable to make the weight, he was replaced by Travis Wolfgram as the rider of PLAYING HOOKIE. Ryan Wiggins was fined the sum of $200 under AR190(3)

The start of this race was delayed 2 minutes when SET ME UP underwent remedial farrier work prior to leaving the mounting enclosure.

EULEILAH – Lost its near side winker near the 800 metres.

CLEAR MOTIVE – Over raced and refused to settle. Laid out around the home turn. Weakened in the home straight. Rider Matthew McGillivray stated that the filly was agitated pre-race and over raced throughout and was not suited to the addition of blinkers for the first time today.

PLAYING HOOKIE – Near the 200 metres steadied when awkwardly placed at the heels of the weakening CLEAR MOTIVE.

BEDTIME SONG – Near the 300 metres was steadied away from the heels of SET ME UP which shifted out to improve. Laid in the home straight.

TAORMINA MATCH – Returned to the mounting yard with blood in its mouth. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which revealed no abnormalities.


Race 3: SEQUENCE ROKSET CONSOLIDATED Class 4 Handicap 1800 metres

Trainer K Purdy was fined $200 for failing to declare a rider for SPICERS PEAK by the prescribed time.

As SPICERS PEAK had raced at the Sunshine Coast on 18 December 2020, underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and passed fit to race. A post-race swab was also taken for analysis.

No racing incidents.


Race 4: HAYMES PAINT QTIS Three-Year-Old Maiden Handicap 1400 metres

The start of this race was delayed when CHELIMO became fractious behind the barriers and made contact with the outside fence. Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared fit to start.

BOLD EXECUTIVE – Prior to the start of this race rider Ryan Wiggins was harmlessly dislodged and as a result the gelding broke free before being captured. Slow to begin. Near the 200 metres when improving moved out over the heels of PHANTOM COURT.

STOCKED AND LOADED – Laid in the home straight.

CHELIMO – Raced three wide without cover for the majority.

BOOM RAIDER – Began awkwardly.

SNAP CHAT – Raced three wide with cover for the majority.

Race 5: HAYMES PAINT SHOP SUNSHINE COAST Fillies and Mares Class 2 Plate 1000 metres

BOLD THALIA – Slow to begin.

UNO AMOR – Raced three wide without cover for the majority.

BELROCOS BABE – Near the 200m bumped on the hindquarters by AVIEMORE.

ME AS I AM – Slow to begin. Approaching the 300 metres was disappointed for a run to the inside of BOLD THALIA before shifting out across the heels of that mare to obtain clear running.

TICINO BELLE – After passing the 800 metres was restrained to gain cover.

AVIEMORE – Bumped heavily near the 800 metres by SENTIMENAL MISS which laid in. Near the 200 metres after being held up shifted out to improve and bumped the hind quarters of BELROCOS BABE.

MISHANI MACHINE – Shortly after the start shifted out and bumped with WINERIES and became unbalanced. Raced three wide with cover for the majority. Performed below market expectation. Rider M Rodd stated that the filly which was second up from a spell and back in distance, was not suited by the strong tempo in the early stages and got further back than anticipated. He further added the filly would now be better suited to distances further than of today’s event. A post-race veterinary examination of MISHANI MACHINE identified a slower than expected recovery from racing.

WINERIES – Bumped shortly after the start. Rider Matthew McGillivray reported that the mare did not feel comfortable in its action. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which revealed no abnormalities.

SENTIMENTAL MISS – Near the 800 metres laid in making heavy contact with AVIEMORE. Rider M Du Plessis reported that the mare resented the bubble cheeker and laid in throughout.


Race 6: EZYCOAT MAGIC MILLIONS COUNTRY CUP QUALIFIER BENCHMARK 75 Handicap 1000 metres

I DREAM OF GREEN – Bumped near the 300 metres. Eased down over the final 200 metres. Rider R Maloney reported that the gelding did not feel comfortable in its action. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which revealed no abnormalities. Trainer undertook to report to stewards anything that may become apparent which may have had an effect on the horses performance in the days subsequent to the event.

LUCKY FIX – Held up round the home turn until passing the 300 metres before shifting out to improve and bumped I DREAM OF GREEN.

ADORADANCER – Bumped at the start.

JE SUIS BELLE – Began awkwardly and shifted in bumping ADORADANCER. Laid in throughout the event.

Race 7: CABOT'S Fillies and Mares BENCHMARK 65 Handicap 1200 metres

DREAMTIME MAGIC – Began awkwardly.

VILLENEUVE LADY – Blundered badly at the start and dislodged its rider App Sheridan Tomlinson who was transported to Hospital for further assessment.

BUCKLE UP BABY – Slow to begin.

DEJANOVA – Laid in the home straight.

DAYTONA DANICA – Shortly after the start was inconvenienced by the riderless horse and was steadied.

MAESTOSO – Laid out under pressure in the home straight.

Race 8: SIKKENS/MIRKA Class 1 Handicap 1400 metres
As no other apprentice was available Stewards permitted Tiffani Brooker to replace App Sheriden Tomlinson on MAKEDON.

GENUINE AL – Near the 250 metres was steadied when racing in restricted room between BUZZER BEATER and BELLICOSE.

MAKEDON – Slow to begin. Near the 250 metres when improving altered course in an attempt to gain clear running and was then held up until passing the 100 metres before shifting wider on the track.

HEARTS DENIED – Held up round the home turn in the early part of the home straight. Laid out under pressure in the home straight.

MYSTERY TRICK – Rider Brad Pengelly was reprimanded under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip 6 times prior to the 100m, 1 more than permitted.

SUPALUX – Rider Adam Spinks was reminded of his obligations when using the whip when out of contention.
