Race 1: NUMBER ONE QUALITY HOMES QTIS Two-Year-Old Fillies Maiden Handicap 1000 metres
 
 
VIENNA EMPRESS – Laid in under pressure in the home straight placing its rider at a disadvantage.
 
AMERICAN RUBY – Raced three wide with cover throughout.
 
BULLOO – Raced three wide with cover throughout.
 
EXTREMIST – Began awkwardly. Passing the 600m shifted out to obtain clear running and forced SELLING SUNSET wider on the course.
 
SELLING SUNSET – Bumped shortly after the start. Raced three wide without cover throughout. Passing the 600m was bumped and forced wider on the track by EXTREMIST which shifted out.
 
COME CLEAN – Had difficulty securing clear running in the early stages of the home straight.
 
DELTA MISS – Slow to begin.
 
 
 
Race 2: ROSS MACLEAN FELLOWSHIP QTIS Two-Year-Old Colts and
Geldings Maiden Ha 1000 metres
 
 
BLOOD THUNDER – Had to be checked and lost ground on jumping when crowded for room by REFERO which shifted in. Inconvenienced near the 300m when TIGER HEART shifted out to improve.
 
CLAUDIUS – Slow to begin. Hung out after passing the 700m. Post race veterinary examination revealed it to be shin sore in both forelegs. Trainer P Duff was advised that a veterinary clearance would be required if the CLAUDIUS was to start in a race within the next six weeks and a warning be placed against the gelding for its racing manners.
 
JIMMY COPPER – Raced greenly and hung in throughout the event causing its rider to be unable to test his mount over the final 300m. Inconvenienced near the 300m when TIGER HEART shifted out to improve. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Trainer T Bowman was advised the colt would be required to trial to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to being permitted to race again.
 
REFERO – Began awkwardly and shifted in crowding runners to its inside.
 
THAT'S A MIRACLE – Slow to begin.
 
TIGER HEART – Near the 300m shifted out to obtain clear running.
 
BUDDHA – Hung in under pressure when awkwardly placed between runners near the 100m.
 
HEAR HEAR – Raced three wide without cover throughout. Inconvenienced near the 300m when TIGER HEART shifted out to improve.
 
 
 
Race 3: TAB LIVE SKY RACING VISION Maiden Handicap 1000 metres
 
SALENTO – Near the 300m became awkward in its action, collapsed and fell making heavy contact with the inside running rail. The gelding was quicky attended to by the veterinary surgeon which found the horse to have deceased. Post race blood and urine samples were taken, before the gelding was transported to the Gatton University Hospital for a post mortem to be undertaken.
 
NAPOLEON GOLD – Slow to begin.
 
TOP PASS – Stewards permitted Jake Bayliss to replace Chris Taylor who is injured. Fractious in barriers prior to the start being effected. Crowded for room on jumping and lost ground. Lost the off fore plate in running.
 
LADY MUMMA – Began awkwardly. Inconvenienced and steadied approaching the 300m to avoid SALENTO. A post race veterinary examination revealed a laceration to the inside of the near hind hock.
 
SPILL QUEEN – Raced three wide with cover throughout.
 
HANGRY – Began awkwardly and shifted out.
 
KURU LASS – Began awkwardly and shifted in. Raced three wide without cover throughout.
 
TALLAHASSEE LASSIE – Lost the near fore plate in running.
 
Jockey Andrew Spinks who was dislodged from SALENTO was examined by QAS personnel and the club doctor and cleared to fulfill his engagement in Race 7.
 
 
 
 
Race 4:  SUNSHINE COAST BUSINESS SOLUTIONS QTIS Three-Year-Old RATINGS BAND 0 - 1400 metres
 
 
BACK WHEN – Crowded for room shortly after the start when BEANHUGGED laid in.
 
REAL EMPRESS – Trainer R Heathcote was fined $100 pursuant to LR67 for failing to declare a rider for the filly by the prescribed time.
 
DRIZZLE – Slow to begin and then bumped by BEN HUR.
 
ZOU ZOU KACANARKIS – Overraced in the early stages and then laid in under pressure over the final 250m.
 
BEANHUGGED – Began awkwardly and shifted in. Raced wide in the early stages before pressing forward to obtain a position outside the leader near the 700m.
 
BEN HUR – Began awkwardly and shifted out. Raced keenly in the early stages and then laid in over the final 300m.
 
Following this event the track was upgraded to a Soft 6.
 
 
Race 5: PARKLANDS TAVERN BENCHMARK 68 Handicap 1400 metres
 
WOWSERS – Lost the off fore plate in running.
 
SPARTAN JET – Apprentice M Wishart reported that the gelding raced flat throughout and proved disappointing and in her opinion may be in need of a spell. Post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Trainer K Kemp advised that in light of today’s performance that it would now be his intention to send the gelding for a spell.
 
MISS ALLE BE – Near the 800m had to be steadied off the heels of WOWSERS.
 
Following this event apprentice Madeleine Wishart was feeling ill and subsequently stood down by the club doctor. Apprentice Wishart was advised that she would need to provide a medical clearance prior to race riding again.
 
Race 6: CHAPS MENSWEAR Maiden Handicap 1600 metres
 
 
MASO – Reared as the start was effected and lost ground.
 
AVESUM PIXIE DUST – After being caught wide in the early stages was allowed to stride forward to obtain the lead near the 1100m.
 
DOTNED- Overraced in the early stages when being restrained to obtain cover passing the 1400m.
 
EARN OUT – Slow to begin and then hampered.
 
ICONICALLY – Rider B Thompson reported that he settled closer than anticipated. He added that after beginning well he elected to allow his mount to travel where comfortable.
 
JARAWONG – Rider Chris Caserta was permitted to replace apprentice M Wishart as no other apprentice rider was available to ride at that weight.
 
WINDUPGIRL – Slow to begin.
 
ZOFF THE BOSS – Lost the off fore plate in running.
 
 
 
Race 7: CMBM FACILITY SERVICES BENCHMARK 58 Handicap
1800 metres
 
BOFORS – Overraced when being restrained near the 1000m when attempting to obtain cover.
 
GINJA – Steadied from heels near the 900m and had to be shifted wider for a short distance.
 
NIATROSS – After being caught three wide without cover in the early stages, was allowed to stride forward to obtain the lead approaching the 1000m.
 
MUFASTA – Slow to begin, lost ground and threw its head up making contact to the face of its rider. Following the event jockey C Caserta was examined by the club doctor and cleared of any injury.
 
INSTRUMENTS – Raced wide after passing the 800m. When asked to comment on the performance apprentice J Lloyd  was of the opinion that the mare wasn’t suited to the slow tempo of the race in the early and middle stages.
 
 
Race 8: PELICAN WATERS GOLF CLUB Class 2 Plate 1000 metres
 
 
POETIC CHOICE – After being loaded into the barriers, reared and became cast. Once able to be removed from the barriers it underwent a veterinary examination which determined the gelding to be unfit to start and was subsequently declared a late scratching on veterinary advice at 4.33pm. Stewards ordered all bets placed on POETIC CHOICE to be refunded in full with the following deductions to apply for successful wages:
 
First  –      16 MISS CANADA  - 0 cents win, 1 cent place
Second  -  17 MASSABIELLE – 12 cents
Third -       11 WRITTEN WITH EASE – 8 cents
 
 
IDEA FROM HEAVEN (NZ) – Slow to begin.
 
LADY MELBA (NZ) – Trainer B Healey was fined $200 pursuant to LR67 for failing to declare a rider for the mare by the prescribed time. Raced three wide without cover throughout.
 
WRITTEN WITH EASE – Slow to begin.
 
YOURJOKINGME RIGHT – Approaching the 700m was eased when placed in restricted room.
 
 
 
 
Race 9: COASTAL STYLE CONSTRUCTIONS Class 4 Handicap
1000 metres
 
 
BETTER THAN GROOVY – Slow into stride.
 
CHILL THE BEER – Passing the 300m had to be checked, was forced out and lost ground when tightened for room by BLUEANT which shifted out. Apprentice J Lloyd rider of CHILL THE BEER was advised to exercise care when attempting narrow runs. Apprentice rider K Wilson-Taylor rider of BLUEANT was advised to exercise care and make every effort to straighten his mounts when shifting ground.
 
DYNAMIC VERSE – Slow to begin.
 
BLUEANT – Passing the 300m shifted out bumping CHILL THE BEER which was forced out.
 
DERULO – Raced three wide without cover throughout.
 
AQUAJAK – Passing the 300m was buffeted between DERULO and CHILL THE BEER which was forced out by BLUEANT which shifted out.
 
GENERAL WITT – Held up rounding the home turn and again held up over the concluding stages and went to the line without being fully tested.
