QUEENSLANDRACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT SUNSHINE COAST TURF CLUB SUNSHINE COAST – FRIDAY 28th MAY 2021 WEATHER – Fine TRACK RATING – Good 4 RAIL – TruePENETROMETER – 6.6 OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – J WilliamsonStewards – P Zimmermann, J Mitchell, M Winwood, K DalyClerk of Scales – J RobinsonJudge – P ChiltonVeterinarian – Dr T DohertySwab Attendants – L Bobeszko, L ChaplinStarter – R Hanson SUPPLEMENTARY REPORTAquis Park Gold Coast – 22/5/21 - Race 3 SECRET AGENT MANStewards today reconvened an adjourned inquiry from Race 3 Saturday 22 May 2021 at the Gold Coast into the actions of Andrew Spinks, rider of SECRET AGENT MAN, between the 600m and 400m.Stewards on the day heard evidence from jockey Andrew Spinks, jockey Noel Callow, rider of HOSTAGE OF WAR, and viewed the footage of the race before adjourning to peruse betting activity on the event.Stewards, after considering all the evidence, including no anomalies regarding betting, determined that the actions of jockey Andrew Spinks to shift wider on the course were not unreasonable in the circumstances, therefore accepted the explanation tendered and elected to take no further action. GENERAL As R Maloney and J Huxtable were both injured, riding changes were made as per the race day summary sheet. Race 1: HERITAGE BANK Maiden Plate 1400 metres ENTERPRISE MAXIMUS – Slow to begin. Raced three wide with cover throughout. KAL EL (NZ) – On jumping the bridle became partially detached and shifted forward over the nearside ear placing its rider at a distinct disadvantage in the first 200 metres before rider Andrew Spinks was able to reposition the bridle a short distance later. SUN 'N' SURF – Raced three wide with cover throughout. BRUT GOLD – When asked to comment rider K Wilson-Taylor stated the gelding raced flat today and was disappointing. MISSFANCYFEET – Crowded on jumping and lost ground. FLEETINGLY – Raced three wide without cover throughout. LUNAR ROMANCE – Slow to begin. ORDESA – When asked to comment on the apparent improved performance trainer R Stenhouse advised at the mare’s most recent start blinkers were added and ORDESA, in his opinion, performed creditably and he was expecting a forward showing in today’s event. Adam Spinks, rider of ORDESA, was suspended under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for a period of 10 days to commence midnight 30th May up to and including midnight 9th June 2021 for use of the whip on six occasions prior to the 100 metres, one more than permitted. Adam Spinks was fined $300 under AR132(6)(a) for the manner he applied the whip forward of the shoulder on ORDESA near the 200 metres. Race 2: QEBS Maiden Handicap 1000 metres GRAND GENES – After being loaded into the barriers, became fractious and reared, was removed and examined by veterinary surgeon and cleared to start. After being reloaded again became fractious, was removed, examined and cleared to start. Began very awkwardly. Raced greenly throughout and in the middle stages lost ground. Trainer S Barr was advised GRAND GENES must obtain a further barrier certificate prior to its next race start. Rider M Du Plessis, who contacted the barriers on jumping away, was examined by the club doctor and cleared to fulfill his remaining engagements. As a result, the start of this event was delayed approximately 3 minutes. I AM SUMI – Bumped at the start. DEEP HEART – Fractious after being loaded into the barriers. Began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped I AM SUMI. Raced three wide throughout. Raced very greenly for majority of the event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed lameness in the off-hind leg. Trainer C Anderson was advised DEEP HEART would require a veterinary clearance and must also trial satisfactorily prior to its next race start. C Anderson advised Stewards the filly would now be spelled. LITTLE BOSS – When the tongue tie was unable to be refitted, Stewards permitted the filly to race without that gear. Trainer representative for C Tyrell reported LITTLE BOSS returned to scale with lacerations to the near side knee. KATIE'S CASH – Rider Andrew Spinks reported the mare was making an abnormal breathing noise on pulling up. Following a post-race veterinary examination Trainer P Hill was advised KATIE’S CASH would require a veterinary clearance including results of an endoscopic examination and additionally must trial satisfactorily prior to its next race start. P Hill indicated KATIE’S CASH would now be retired. BEAUETA – Rider N Thomas sustained an injury to his lip when the horse in the adjacent stall became fractious. N Thomas was subsequently examined by the club doctor and cleared to fulfill his remaining engagements. Race 3: COAST LIFE HOMES QTIS Three-Year-Old Maiden Handicap 1000 metres The start of this event was delayed approximately 2 minutes to hold for an interstate thoroughbred race. KISEKI MAN – Fractious after being loaded into the barriers. Over-raced in the early stages and raced greenly for the majority of the event. MR MAJESTIC – Raced three wide with cover throughout. AMBER BLONDE – Held up for clear running passing the 300 metres. BLUINDI – Laid out under pressure in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a poor post-race recovery. Trainer L Birchley advised Stewards he would now discuss the geldings immediate racing future with connections. KINKUNA – Slow to begin. SURFIE BOY – Began awkwardly. Race 4: PELICAN WATERS OPEN Handicap 1000 metres MR BELLAGIO – slow to begin. FLASH AAH – Slow to begin then tightened for room shortly after and lost ground. I'VE GOTTA NEL – Following the running of this event rider J Lloyd was examined by the club doctor and subsequently stood down from his remaining engagements. Riding changes were made as per the race day summary sheet. WEBOUGHTAZOU – Raced three wide for majority of the event. BOLD XAVVI – Inconvenienced shortly after the start and lost ground. PERFECT AIM – Inconvenienced near the 50 metres. SISTER KITTY MAC – Checked near the 600 metres when I’VE GOTTA NEL shifted closer to the rail. J Lloyd, rider of I’VE GOTTA NEL, pleaded guilty to a charge under AR131(a) in that he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear resulting in SISTER KITTY MAC being tightened, taken in, contacting the inside running rail and being checked. The licence of J Lloyd to ride in races was suspended for a period of 14 days to commence midnight 5th June up to and including midnight 19th June 2021. Race 5: SOLAHART BENCHMARK 58 Handicap 1200 metres DESTINY'S SON – Steadied from the heels of STAY SMART near the 600 metres. BUCKLE UP BABY – Trainer L Abbott was fined $200 under LR67 for the late declaration of rider on that mare. Slow to begin. GLOCK – Raced three wide without cover throughout. CAIERON – K Wilson-Taylor, rider of CAIERON, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR131(a) in that near the 200 metres, when under hard riding, failed to make sufficient effort to stop riding and straighten his mount when the gelding shifted out under pressure resulting in HEAVENLY ARCHER having to be steadied to avoid heels, STAY SMART being tightened and checked and IDEA FROM HEAVEN also being tightened and checked after making contact with the hindquarters of RAMBLIN MAN and also being checked. The licence of K Wilson-Taylor was suspended for period of 13 days to commence midnight 8th June up to and including midnight 21st June 2021. STAY SMART – As Rider B Davis experienced transport difficulties, Stewards permitted S Thornton to ride the gelding. Steadied from the heels of HEAVENLY ARCHER near the 600 metres and became unbalanced. Checked when tightened near 200 metres. IDEA FROM HEAVEN (NZ) – Tightened for room and had to be checked near the 200 metres. THREE PHASE – Raced three wide with cover throughout. TALLAHASSEE LASSIE – Blundered shortly after the start and lost ground. HEAVENLY ARCHER – Steadied from heels of CAIERON near 200 metres and obliged to shift in across heels. NORSE MYTHOLOGY – Over-raced in the early stages after obtaining the lead. BOLD PEDRO – Forced wide near the 600 metres. Near the 100 metres improved onto heels and had to be steadied. RAMBLIN' MAN – Raced in restricted room approaching the 200 metres. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Race 6: SUNSHINE MITRE LADIES OAKS DAY CUP 1200 metres DEVILLAIN – Raced three wide without cover throughout. Inconvenienced near 1000 metres when tightened by DAINTREE DIVA. M Hellyer, rider of DAINTREE DIVA, was reprimanded under AR131(a). RENOUF – Raced three wide with cover throughout. Over-raced in the early stages. Shifted out abruptly near the 300 metres to secure clear running. B'DAISY – Raced three wide with cover throughout. Forced wider rounding the home turn. MISS DAIQUIRI – Forced wider rounding the home turn. ARQUERA – Slow to begin. Held up rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the home straight and then had difficulty securing clear running from the 250 metres until the finish of the race. Race 7: CALOUNDRA SHOPPING CENTRE QTIS Three-Year-Old BENCHMARK 65 Handicap 1600 metres WITHOUT THINKING – Began awkwardly and lost ground. MOB BUSTER – Over-raced in the early stages and near the 1300 metres shifted out three wide until the 900 metres. SQUARE DANCE – Over-raced in the early and middle stages when leading. Race 8: INTEGRALE HOMES Class 3 Handicap 1600 metres FIGHTING COMMANDO – Steadied from heels near 1300 metres. STARBUSTER – Forced wider near 1200 metres. MISS ALLE BE – Change of tactics – more forward if circumstances permit. Ridden accordingly. SID – Slow to begin. BAMBALAM – Over-raced badly during the early stages. Steadied from heels near 1100 metres. LOVE PUZZLE – Raced three wide for majority of the event. Following the poor performance Stewards advised connections LOVE PUZZLE would be stood down to country venues. Trainer T Cotsiopoulos advised LOVE PUZZLE would now be retired. TYCOON PLAYER – As G Walters was to be overweight, Stewards permitted W Peel to ride the gelding. G Walters was fined $100 under AR190(3). Following the poor performance Stewards advised connections TYCOON PLAYER would be stood down to country venues.
