Leaving the 700m made heavy contact with GREY MISSILE when obliged to steady and shift out to avoid the heels of YOU’LL BE MIST (R Fradd) which shifted in. Jockey R Fradd was reprimanded under AR131(a). A post-race veterinary examination identified a laceration to the to its near fore leg. GREY DEFENCE – Bumped on jumping. Near the 700m was bumped heavily by FIERCE WARRIOR and forced wider and obliged to race wide for the remainder. ROYALE RETURN – Bumped heavily by GREY DEFENCE and became unbalanced near the 700m and as a result lost ground. DOVETAIL DIVA – Performed below market expectations, rider R Stewart reported that the filly travelled well throughout however failed to respond to his riding entering the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination did not identify any abnormal findings. Trainer J Symons advised that the filly will be now sent for a spell in light of today’s performance. Race 2: SKY RACING Maiden Plate 1400 metres RIVERSIDE THEATRE arrived at the barriers with blood in its mouth and as a result underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start. BARONET – Held up for clear running round the home turn. CANNY SKATE – Over-raced in the early stages. Near the 700m was reluctant to hold its position when racing in restricted room and as a result became unbalanced and lost significant ground. KID MAC – Raced three wide without cover throughout. ROACCI – Shifted wider near 650m to improve and raced wide for the remainder. RIVERSIDE THEATRE –- Began awkwardly and tightened between runners on jumping losing significant ground. STOCKED AND LOADED (NZ) – Held up for clear running from the 600m until leaving the 400m and again had difficult securing clear running passing the 200m. DAULAT MACHTIGAMOR – Held up for clear running from the 500m until a point leaving the 200m. ENTERPRISE ELECTRA – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Raced three wide with cover throughout. QUEEN LAGERTHA – Raced three wide with cover throughout. KIRSOVA – Raced four wide without cover throughout. Near the 700m shifted in an was steadied from the heels of QUEEN LAGERTHA and became awkward. SHE'S AN EAGLE - A post-race veterinary examination revealed the filly to be exhibiting signs of the thumps. SUN 'N' SURF – Began awkwardly and shifted out. Race 3: TAB LONG MAY WE PLAY Class 6 Handicap 1400 metres INDISPENSABLE - Jockey R Maloney was fined $500 for use of the whip 6 times prior to the 100m, which is 1 more than permitted. AR132(7)(a)(ii) MURLESS (NZ) – Raced keenly in early and middle stages. THE IRONS – Approaching the 1200m was steadied when awkwardly placed at heels. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. ZOULOU DANCER – Slow to begin. Race 4: CALOUNDRA CUP DAY 3RD JULY Colts, Geldings and Entires Class 1 Plate 1200 metres ARRIVERDERCI ROMA – Bumped on jumping. BOLD ZIP – Over-raced in the early stages. ONE MORE CAST – Attempted to improved near the 600m into restricted room, was obliged to steady and lost ground. Had difficulty securing clear running in the early stages of the home straight before shifting out and making contact with COME IN SPINNER. CAIERON – Performed below market expectations, rider J Orman when asked to comment on the performance stated that in the early stages he anticipated racing with cover behind YOURJOKINGME RIGHT, however when that horse continued forward to the lead he was obliged to race without cover. Whilst he was of the opinion this had an effect on the overall performance, he believed that the gelding was disappointing in its finishing efforts. Trainer G Duncan advised that he would consider sending the gelding for a spell in light of today’s performance. YOURJOKINGME RIGHT – Bumped on jumping. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Trainer A Jones reprimanded under LR30 for presenting the horse late on course. COME IN SPINNER (NZ) – Bumped with BOLD ZIP rounding the home turn. Laid in over the concluding stages. Race 5: ACCESS INSULATION SUNSHINE COAST Class 3 Handicap 1000 metres GOLDSBOROUGH (NZ) – Held up for clear running rounding the home turn. MODELKA – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Held up for clear running round the home turn until a point near the 400m before shifting out and as a result caused RICHETTI to be inconvenienced. SPIRIT HOUSE – Held up for clear running from the 500m until a point near the 150m. BELLE'S PLUCK – Raced three wide without cover throughout. Trainer L Gough reprimanded under LR30 for presenting the horse late on course. LIZA WITH A ZEE – Bumped on jumping. RICHETTI – Inconvenienced passing the 400m. UNO AMOR – Raced three wide with cover throughout. Trainer B Wakefield reprimanded under LR30 for presenting the horse late on course. MORE THAN LIKELY – Began awkwardly. A post-race veterinary examination of did not identify any abnormal findings. Race 6: WIMMERS PREMIUM SOFT DRINKS BENCHMARK 70 Handicap 2200 metres RAPTURES – Performed below market expectations, rider C Williams reported that the slow tempo set in the early stages of today’s event did not suit the mare. He added that he had attempted to follow DESIGNS, when that filly attempted to improve however was unable to do so. He further added that the mare did not finish the race off well and in his opinion did not run out a strong 2200m. A post-race veterinary examination did not identify any abnormal findings. GAELIC - Change of tactics – Will be ridden in a more forward position if circumstances permit. After being slow to begin was ridden in the second half of the field. BROCSON – Slow to begin. After being caught wide in the early stages was permitted to stride forward and take up a position outside the lead near the 800m. MONAAFASAH (IRE) - Change of tactics – Will be ridden in a more forward position if circumstances permit. After being caught wide was ridding forward to the lead after passing the 1600m. WILD SHEILA – After being caught wide in the early stages was permitted to stride forward and take up the lead at the 900m. DESIGNS – Over-raced in the early stages. When the pace was steadied in the middle stages, shifted wider to improve near the 1100m and raced wide for the remainder. Rider J Byrne when asked to comment stated that the horse over-raced in the first half of the event and in his opinion this had a detrimental effect on the horses overall performance. Despite this in his opinion the filly was able to travel comfortably from the 1000m when the tempo of the race increase, however round the home turn did not respond to his riding WILDWOOD JADE – Over-raced in the early and middle stages. Raced wide from the 1100m. ELECTRIC ELLYSE – Slow to begin. Race 7: BUTLER MCDERMOTT LAWYERS Fillies and Mares Class 1 Plate 1200 metre MASSABIELLE - Trainer T Haydon reprimanded under LR30 for presenting the horse late on course. SO BE VENUS - Trainer L Abbott reprimanded under LR30 for presenting the horse late on course. SOUND OF SLEAT – Over-raced in the early stages.DAINTREE DIVA – Began awkwardly. Rider M Hellyer reported that it was his intention to ride in a more forward position however, after beginning awkwardly settled in the second half of the field. GOLDSCHLAGER – Bumped on jumping. Near the 800m shifted wider to improve and raced wide for the remainder. LOVE MY SUPER – Raced three wide without cover throughout. MAESTOSO – Buffeted between runners on jumping. ONE SHY RUBY – Over-raced in the early stages. REDOUTE'S IMAGE – Rider C Williams lost the use of his near side iron for a short distance during the early stages. Over-raced passing the 900m. Approaching the 200m was obliged to alter course in order to secure clear running. Race 8: PARKLANDS TAVERN Class 2 Handicap 1400 metres The start was delayed approximately 8 minutes when BACK THE ROCK became fractious and reared displacing its near fore plate, all runners were then removed from the barriers whilst that gelding received farrier attention. BACK THE ROCK underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was passed suitable to race. Trainer D Bougoure was advised that the gelding would be required to obtain two further barrier certificates prior to racing again. MINJEE – Slow to begin. Held up for clear running rounding the home turn. HE'S THE NEWS – Began awkwardly. BACK THE ROCK – Slow to begin. SISTA ELENORE - Trainer D Hansen reprimanded under LR30 for presenting the horse late on course. CALDWELL – Raced three wide without cover throughout.
