GENERAL
 
As R Stewart and J Bayliss were both unable to fulfill their engagements, changes were permitted as per race day summary.
 
Race 1: LAND TRANSPORT QTIS 3YO MSN HCP – 1200M
 
SPIRIT OF ROMANCE – Fractious in the barriers and subsequently underwent a pre-race veterinary examination which cleared the filly to start.
 
AMBER BLONDE – Blundered on jumping.
 
TE JINA ROSE – When questioned regarding whether there was an opportunity to improve his position near the 1000m when SPIRIT OF ROMANCE improved three wide, jockey L Cassidy stated his instructions were to ride the filly in a handy position but also to have TE JINA ROSE where she was comfortable. He added that he was satisfied to race outside the leader and was also mindful of the fact that he didn’t want the filly to overrace. Stewards noted the explanation.
 
Race 2: VAWDREY TRAILERS QTIS 3YO C&G MDN HCP – 1200M
 
LEAVE ME ALONG – Jumped awkwardly shifting in contacting CLAIRVUE JET. Overraced in the early stages.
 
SCOTTISH PRINCE – Steadied near the 1000m when crossed by JENO.
 
CLAIRVUE JET – Tightened on jumping. Inclined to lay in under pressure and contacted the running rail near the 350m. Apprentice M Castle was reprimanded for using her whip 6 times prior to the 100m, 1 more than permitted.
 
JENO – When questioned regarding tactics adopted today, jockey B El-Issa stated there were no specific instructions issued from the stable. He added that after JENO began well and with limited pace from runners to his inside he then elected to press forward and find the lead. Trainer P Duff concurred with jockey El-Issa’s comments and added that circumstances early in the event resulted in his runner finding an unexpected lead. Stewards noted the comments.
 
ZAYDE – Checked on jumping.
 
Race 3: PLATINUM TALENT MANAGEMENT QTIS 2YO HCP – 1000M
 
MISHANI ENCHANTED – Slow to begin.
 
CRACK OF DOOM - Held up rounding the home turn, disappointed for a run between TRUE MOONLIGHT and MIKKI’S MISTRESS near the 350m before shifting nearer the rail to secure clear running.
 
TRUE MOONLIGHT – Raced wide throughout.
 
SONGZILA – Slow to begin.
 
AVOLONTE – Raced wide throughout with cover.
 
CHAMPION PARADE – Raced greenly in the straight.
 
MIKKI’S MISTRESS – Shifted in abruptly on jumping.
 
Race 4: FOLLOWMONT TRANSPORT C3 HCP – 1600M
 
SCICONIC – Slow to begin.
 
BACCHUS - Slow to begin.
 
SPIRIT OF EDYN – As apprentice S Tomlinson was unable to claim his full allowance, he was replaced by Apprentice M Castle. Apprentice Tomlinson was subsequently fined $300 under AR143(14)(b). Slow to begin. Pulled hard throughout.
 
Race 5: OZWIDE ENERGY GROUP BM65 HCP – 1400M
 
BIANCO NUOVO – Slow to begin. When racing keenly and three wide, apprentice K Wilson-Taylor elected to restrain to a position nearer the rail passing the 900m.
 
DONANDKIM – Rider A Spinks reported his mount laid in down the straight placing him at a disadvantage.
 
CAMP RIFLE – Slow to begin.
 
Race 6: CARPET CALL MDN HCP – 1000M
 
ZEPHYR CRUISER – Steadied from the heels of POPULAR DISSENT approaching the home turn.
 
UBER JET – Leaving the 700m, was inclined to lay out despite the efforts of its rider. Laid in under pressure near the 200m when racing greenly. Trainer T Hurley was advised that a warning would be placed on the racing manners of UBER JET.
 
I AM SUMI – Jumped awkwardly shifted out. Approaching the home turn was placed in restricted room between POPULAR DISSENT and GODDESS OF DREAMS which laid in before being corrected by its rider.
 
POPULAR DISSENT – Raced in restricted room approaching the home turn.
 
GODDESS OF DREAMS – Leaving the 700m was tightened for racing room and had to be checked when MR FAGIOLI laid in marginally and UBER JET, when racing greenly, shifted out marginally. Stewards when considering the incident noted the racing manners of UBER JET.
 
BEAUTA – Tightened on jumping. Steadied off the heels of the tiring MR FAGIOLI near the 250m.
 
QUEEN LAGERTHA – Bumped on the hindquarters on jumping.
 
Race 7: LITTLE BIRDIE TV BM65 HCP – 1000M
 
LEADERSHIP SPILL – When questioned regarding the performance, apprentice J Lloyd stated that his mount was inclined to lay in in the straight but could offer no other explanation for the performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
TYCOON STREET – Fractious in the barriers and attempted to rear and as a result was slow to begin.
 
HIGHLAND SON – Raced wide throughout. Raced keenly in the early stages.
 
NIGHT EXPRESS – Slow to begin.
 
SIR PICCOLO – Slow to begin.
 
RUNSIS – Raced wide throughout.
 
Race 8: SLEEP STUDIES @ HOME C1 PLT – 1200M
 
KATANAROCK – Near the 900m when racing keenly, shifted in and away from DARCHINIAN despite the efforts of its rider and placed PERFECT IMPRESSION in restricted room. Overraced throughout the event.
 
COMMENTS – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
FIGHTING MAD – Near the 150m when tiring, had to be steadied when PERFECT QUALITY shifted in when insufficiently clear. Rider A Fancourt was reprimanded for this incident pursuant to AR131(a).
 
PERFECT IMPRESSION - Placed in restricted room near the 900m and had to be steadied for several strides when KATANAROCK shifted in while racing greenly. Held up rounding the home turn. Tightened for room near the 150m.
 
CHAMPAGNE SPRIT – Declared a late scratching at 8.50am after swelling was discovered in its nearside fore. Trainer A Robinson was advised that a veterinary certificate would be required prior to the filly starting again.
