GENERAL
 
Due to current covid restrictions Stewards permitted the following weight variations:
Race 1: DEVIL - A Sewell – 54.5kg (+0.5kg)
Race 2: COSMIC GOSSIP – J Bayliss 54.5kg (+0.5kg)
Race 8: GOLDSCHLAGRER – J Huxtable 56.5kg (+0.5kg)  
 
As B El Issa was injured, L Tarrant was suspended and S Tomlinson was unable to claim his full allowance in Race 8, riding changes were made as per the Raceday Summary sheet.
 
Race 1: MARTIN COLLINS AUSTRALIA Maiden Handicap 1400 metres
 
The start of this event was delayed approximately 4 minutes when POPULAR DISSENT required farriery attention on arrival at the barriers.
 
BONJOUR MATE – Slow to begin. Hung in under pressure in the home straight.
 
LEAVE ME ALONG – Approaching the 1200 metres shifted across heels and had to be restrained. Raced greenly when placed under pressure in the home straight and near the 300 metres bumped BEFORE AND AFTER.
 
SIR EX BE – Over-raced passing the 1000 metres for a short distance.
 
WEWANDA – Raced three wide without cover for the majority of the event. Approaching the 300 metres, whilst weakening, had to be steadied when racing tight between CLAIRVUE JET and LEAVE ME ALONG. Rider S Thornton reported that racing wide throughout the event had a detrimental effect on the finishing effort of WEWANDA and also recommended that connections consider adding blinkers.
 
POPULAR DISSENT – On arrival at the barriers the near fore plate was refitted.
 
 
Race 2: WIMMERS PREMIUM SOFT DRINKS Class 5 Handicap 1300 metres
 
BETTER THAN GROOVY – Checked on jumping away when TICINO BELLE began awkwardly and shifted in.
 
RISING STAR – Change of tactics – ridden further back if circumstances permit. Ridden accordingly.
 
COSMIC GOSSIP – Forced three wide from the 700 metres when DEPTHS BELOW shifted out to improve.
 
TICINO BELLE – Jumped in at the start.
 
 
Race 3: SCTC MEMBERSHIP QTIS Three-Year-Old Maiden Plate 1400 metres
 
INCLUSION – Began awkwardly. Lost off fore plate in running.
 
JETFOIL – Held up rounding the home-turn until near the 300 metres at which point improved onto heels and blundered before shifting wider on the track to secure clear running.
 
SIGNAL ROW – Raced three wide without cover throughout the event.
 
VIRGO VISION – Raced three wide with cover throughout the event. Place in restricted room when weakening near the 300 metres. Rider A Allen dropped his whip near the 200 metres. Lost near fore plate in running.
 
YANGARI – Slow to begin and tailed off throughout the event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a minor case of the thumps. Trainer R Heathcote advised it was now his intention to send the gelding for a spell.
 
DUCHESS ROTHESAY – Momentarily held up passing the 300 metres.
 
SHE'S A UNICORN – Over-raced in the early stages of the event.
 
 
Race 4: XXXX DRY Class 5 Handicap 1000 metres
 
DEVIL'S TEMPTATION – Raced three wide throughout without cover. Rider L Kilner reported she had been instructed to attempt to lead however after being caught three wide the gelding weakened when placed under pressure in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed lameness in the off-hind leg. Co-trainer T Sears was advised DEVIL’S TEMPTATION would require a veterinary clearance prior to its next race start.
 
LEROYTHECONQUEROR – Slow to begin.
 
MISHANI MISS – Fractious after being loaded into the barriers. Slow to begin and then checked on jumping and lost ground. Obliged to alter course to avoid heels near the 300 metres and then was disappointed for a run and had to be steadied near the 150 metres.
 
PLENTY – From the wide barrier restrained shortly after to a rearward position closer to the fence. Disappointed for a run and obliged to steady near the 300 metres and then had difficulty securing clear running until near the 200 metres. 
 
CENTREFIRE – Following the event the rider was of the opinion the mare may be in season. A post-race veterinary examination of CENTREFIRE revealed symptoms of the thumps.
 
DYNAMIC VERSE – Slow to begin.
 
PROUD MIA – Rider L Cassidy reported instructions were to lead on the fence however when unable to do so was obliged to race outside the leader which in his opinion had a detrimental effect on the overall performance of the gelding. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
SANTISIMO – Jumped in at the start. Hung in under pressure in the home straight.
 
 
Race 5: SKY RACING Class 1 Plate 1000 metres
 
GRAND CHALLENGE – Raced 5 wide throughout before being allowed to shift wider rounding the home turn. Apprentice M Castle, rider of GRAND CHALLENGE, was fined $300 under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for use of the whip on six occasions prior to the 100 metres, one more than permitted.
 
HEAT – Slow to begin.
 
MINT STRIP – Raced 4 wide throughout before being allowed to shift wider rounding the home turn.
 
MORGAN'S SMILE – Raced 3 wide throughout.
 
MOZART'S RIVAL – Raced 6 wide throughout before being forced wider rounding the home turn when runners to the inside shifted wider on the track.
 
KIKI COCO – Held up for clear running rounding the home turn and then momentarily crowded for room near the 200 metres.
 
SHELLEY'S SPIRIT – The saddle on the mare slipped back during the event which may have placed its rider at a disadvantage.
 
 
Race 6: BUTLER MCDERMOTT LAWYERS BENCHMARK 62 Handicap 1600 metres
 
BRINKMANSHIP – Began awkwardly. Had to pressure the horse to obtain the lead as instructed however as a result over-raced in the early and middle stages. 
 
SISTER KATHLEEN – Slow to begin.
 
LADY RINGO – Began awkwardly.
 
WALKINSHAW – Crowded for room and had to be steadied near the 150 metres when BACCHUS shifted out under riding. J Lloyd, rider of BACHUS, was reprimanded for careless riding under AR131(a).
 
 
Race 7: TAB LONG MAY WE PLAY Class 2 Plate 1400 metres
 
BELLICOSE – Over-raced in the early and middle stages when racing outside the leader.
 
THE RITZ – Slow to begin.
 
BETTER LAD – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be displaying symptoms of the thumps.
 
EPICURIOUS – Slow to begin.
 
LIGHT OF ULURU – Bumped on jumping.
 
ANNABETH – Over-raced in the early and middle stages when leading the event.
 
ASWAAT – Raced three wide without cover throughout.
 
ONE MORE CAST – Began awkwardly and shifted out bumping LIGHT OF ULURU.
 
 
Race 8: ACCESS INSULATION SUNSHINE COAST BENCHMARK 62 Handicap 1200 metres
 
BLUE COMET – Slow to begin. Lost near hind plate in running. A post-race veterinary examination revealed soreness in the right hind hamstring. Trainer T Thomas was advised BLUE COMET would require a veterinary clearance prior to its next race start.
 
MYSTERY TRICK – Inconvenienced over the concluding stages.
 
LADY MAGNUS – Slow to begin. Held up for clear running rounding the home turn and the 300 metres and then again held up from the 200 metres until a point leaving the 100 metres.
 
PATTY'S FORTUNE – Laid out under pressure in the home straight.
 
MISS DISS – The saddle on the mare was readjusted on arrival at the barriers. Raced three wide for the majority of the event.
 
SPECTATE – Forced wider on the track and inconvenienced when PATTY’S FORTUNE shifted out under pressure over the concluding stages. J Lloyd, rider of PATTY’S FORTUNE, was reprimanded under AR131(a) for careless riding in this incident.
