QUEENSLANDRACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT SUNSHINE COAST TURF CLUB – SUNDAY 22nd AUGUST 2021 WEATHER – Fine TRACK RATING – Good 4 RAIL – + 3 meters entirePENETROMETER – 6.5 OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – J WilliamsonStewards – P Chadwick, P Zimmermann, K DalyClerk of Scales – J RobinsonJudge – P ChiltonVeterinarian – Dr S McGinnissSwab Attendants – J Pedofsky, L ChaplinStarter – R Smith GENERAL Due to current covid restrictions, Stewards permitted the following weight variation:Race 7: BOUNTY HUNTER – T Brooker 54.5kg (+0.5kg) Race 1: PARKLANDS TAVERN QTIS Three-Year-Old BENCHMARK 65 Handicap 1400 metres No racing incidents. Race 2: WIMMERS PREMIUM SOFT DRINKS Class 5 Plate 1000 metres CABEIRIAN – As not started for an extended period, underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start. PLENTY – Slow to begin. DANCING ANGEL – On return to scale it was reported the tongue tie on the mare had become displaced during the event. Race 3: MARTIN COLLINS AUSTRALIA QTIS Three-Year-Old Maiden Plate 1000 metres STAR PATROL – Raced with its head in the air for a short distance when restrained to obtain cover shortly after the start. Over-raced and hung out during the middle stages. Hung out under pressure during the early part of the home straight. FEAR THE NIGHT – After dislodging rider A Allen behind the barriers, underwent a veterinary examination and was cleared to start. GOLDEEL – When asked to comment on the performance rider K Wilson-Taylor reported the filly raced greenly when placed under pressure in the home straight and failed to respond to his riding, adding that in his opinion, GOLDEEL would derive benefit from the race experience. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow post-race recovery. INDEEP – Raced three wide without cover throughout. SEA KISSED – Slow to begin. Race 4: YALUMBA WINES Fillies and Mares Maiden Handicap 1200 metres The start of this event was delayed approximately 4 minutes when the bit lifter on BEAUETA was removed and further when SUPER TROUBLE proved difficult to load. I AM WINKLES – Rider D McGillivray reported the mare raced greenly when placed under pressure in the home straight. TABOO – Slow to begin. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. SUPER TROUBLE – Difficult to load. Had difficulty securing clear running in the early stages of the home straight. AMBER BLONDE – Raced in restricted room to the inside of I AM WINKLES approaching the 700 meters. D McGillivray, rider of I AM WINKLES, was advised to show greater care in similar circumstances. MISS HUSTLE – Held up for clear running rounding the home turn. WINE NOT ROSES – Slow to begin. ROMAN REIGN – Began awkwardly and lost ground. After improving onto the heels near the 500 metres and shifted out abruptly as a result. BEAUETA – On arrival at the barriers the bit lifter on the mare was removed. Race 5: SCTC MEMBERSHIP Fillies and Mares Maiden Handicap 1200 metres SUNDUS – As not started for an extended period, underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start. Began awkwardly and shifted out. SCANDINA – Inconvenienced on jumping when WEWANDA shifted out. Rider L Tilley reported initially the mare got its tongue over the bit in the early stages of the event and passing the 800 metres the bit on SCANDINA pulled through its mouth placing L Tilley at a disadvantage for the remainder of the event. KITTYKITTYBANGBANG – As J Huxtable failed to arrive on course, Stewards permitted L Cassidy to ride the mare. Inconvenienced on jumping and a short distance later checked between SUNDUS and REGAL EYES which shifted in abruptly. Held up for clear running approaching the 500 metres. CANADIAN DANCER – Over-raced with its head in the air near the 1000 metres when the pace steadied and as a consequence shifted wider on the track for a short distance. WEWANDA – Jumped out at the start. Commenced to hang out leaving the 800 metres and continued to do so for the remainder of the race placing its rider at a disadvantage. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer D Berriman was advised WEWNDA must trial satisfactorily prior to its next race start. ROSE OF DUPORTH – Inconvenienced on jumping when WEWANDA shifted out. Over-raced with its head in the air passing the 900 metres and then taken wider on the track between the 800 metres and the 400 metres when WEWANDA commence to hang out badly at that point. ANGELIC ARCHER – As R Fradd was stood down by the Club doctor following his ride in Race 4, Stewards permitted N Thomas to ride the mare. R Fradd was advised he must provide a medical clearance prior to resuming race riding. REGAL EYES – Jumped in abruptly on jumping. Raced three wide without cover throughout the event. Race 6: TAB LONG MAY WE PLAY Colts, Geldings and Entires Maiden Handicap 1200 metres BOOK OF LIFE – Began awkwardly and lost ground. CEE YOU AT EIGHT – Slow to begin. SMART STAR PRINCE – Rider R Maloney reported the saddle on the gelding shifted back near the 800 metres and from that point the gelding commenced to hang out. MOUNT HIMMLER – Raced three wide without cover for majority of the event. SPOTTED WONDER – Raced three wide with cover throughout. Race 7: BUTLER MCDERMOTT LAWYERS Class 4 Handicap 1300 metres No racing incidents. Race 8: SKY RACING RATINGS BAND 0 - 65 Handicap 1600 metres BACCHUS – At the start from the wide draw was restrained to a rearward position closer to the rails. BLAZING SUNRISE – Rider A Mallyon could offer no explanation other than he was disappointed with the performance. Stable representative M Eggleston indicated consideration would be given to the horses’ immediate racing future. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. UNIQUE JOURNEY – Began very awkwardly and lost ground resulting in rider N Fazackerley becoming unbalanced for a short distance. ASWAAT – Slow to begin. BUCKLE UP BABY – Over-raced when attempting to obtain cover in the early stages and when unable to do so was then obliged to race three wide throughout. LADY RINGO – Slow to begin. EVITA LA VIE – Shifted out under pressure in the early stages of the home straight. DUBLE GAZE – Slow to begin. Over-raced in the early stages. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Approaching the finish line was accidently struck across the nose by the whip of the rider of FIORENTE STAR. WALKINSHAW – Jumped in at the start.
