QUEENSLANDRACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT SUNSHINE COAST TURF CLUB – SUNDAY 29TH AUGUST 2021 WEATHER – FINETRACK RATING – GOOD(4) RAIL – +5M ENTIREPENETROMETER – 6.6 OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – J WilliamsonStewards – D Aurisch, T Hudson & A SchofieldClerk of Scales – J RobinsonJudge – P ChiltonVeterinarian – Dr S McGinnissSwab Attendants – L Chaplin & J PedofskyStarter – R Smith GENERAL As R Stewart sustained an injury at Doomben yesterday and B Nothdurft was ill and unable to attend, changes were permitted as per raceday summary. Both riders were advised that medicals would need to be produced prior to their next trial and race rides. Race 1: SUNSTATE LANDSCAPE CONSTRUCTIONS PTY LTD C5 HCP – 1800M ADMUND BOY – Stood flat footed and lost ground. Raced ungenerously when placed under pressure in the home straight. WHISPERED – Forced wider passing the 1600m and raced wide until leaving the 1400m. MAKEDON -Raced with its head in the air during the early stages as a result of the steady pace which had been set. Shifted wider near the 1600m to avoid heels. CABOCHON LIL – Overraced in the middle stages.Race 2: FACTORY DIRECT SHUTTERS QTIS 3YO BM65 HCP – 1000M YOU’LL BE MIST – Slow to begin and bumped shortly after. MISHANI SNIPER - Rider C Caserta stated that although MISHANI SNIPER raced three wide for the event, he was still disappointed with its finishing efforts. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a respiratory condition consistent with early onsets of a virus. Trainer L Ross advised stewards that MISHANI SNIPER would now be spelled but nonetheless was advised that a veterinary certificate would need to be produced prior to its next start. VETTA VELOCITA – Bumped shortly after jumping. Improved onto heels approaching the 400m and had to be steadied, then continued to have difficulty obtaining clear running until the 300m. AVOLONTE – Jumped awkwardly. Race 3: LEVEL FIELD LAWYERS AND CONSULTANTS PTY LTD MDN HCP – 1000M KING’S EXPRESS – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after not competing in the past twelve months and was cleared to start. Raced wide throughout. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. NO BETTER AFFAIRE – Lost its off fore plate in running. NANNA KNUCKEY – Began awkwardly losing ground. UZERLI – Began awkwardly. Raced wide throughout. VISTA ROSE (NZ) – Shifted out shortly after jumping contacting COOL ESPRESSO. COOL ESPRESSO – Bumped shortly after jumping. Leaving the 900m had to be steadied from heels when placed in restricted room by WORDS UNSPOKEN who was tightened when taken in by UZERLI (App D McGillivray). Apprentice D McGillivray was reprimanded under AR131(a). Steadied when obliged to race in restricted room passing the 500m. WORDS UNSPOKEN – Began awkwardly losing ground. Leaving the 900m was taken in and had to be steadied when tightened for room by UZERLI. Raced wide throughout. QUEEN SAFARI – Reared on jumping losing significant ground as a result. Race 4: MEGALEC PTY LTD MDN PLT - 1400M The start of the race was delayed approximately 4 minutes when DEVIL was reluctant to proceed to the barriers. Trainer T Miller was advised a warning would be placed on the record of DEVIL regarding its pre-race behaviour. CRAZY EYED FRED – Rider B Stewart dropped his whip over the concluding stages. DEAR SIBLING – Laid in over the concluding stages and as a result, apprentice Z Lloyd was obliged to stop riding and straighten. SPOTTED WONDER – Raced wide majority. THE SEVEN FALLS (NZ) - Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after not competing in the past twelve months and was cleared to start. Stood flat footed and lost considerable ground. FLECKERL – Slow to begin. Commenced to overrace when being restrained to find cover in the early stages. JEM JEM – Near the 200m was inconvenienced whilst weakening by ROMAN HUSSLER which shifted out. PULP – Due to current covid restrictions, Stewards permitted R Maloney to ride one kilo over his allotted weight. ROMAN HUSSLER - Commenced to hang from the 900m to leaving the 600m. Laid out under pressure in the home straight. EVA THE DIVA – Slow to begin. Race 5: WEALTHMED QTIS 3YO MDN HCP – 1300M MAC MONTY – Raced wide throughout. Rider C Small reported that the gelding felt awkward in its action. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. FRESH PRINCE – Slow to begin. ACTION JACKSON – Rider M Hellyer reported that his mount laid out under pressure in the home straight. A post-race lacerations to the inside of the off-hind fetlock. CAOIMHE (NZ) – Raced wide with cover throughout. SEA RIPPLE – Obliged to race in restricted room near the 1100m to the inside of THAT’S A MIRACLE (App K Wilson-Taylor). Apprentice K Wilson-Taylor was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances. IMBATIDO – Steadied when placed in restricted room near the 1100m. ZEEBLING – Reared as the start was affected and lost ground. Race 6: MICHELLE PETHER Class 2 Handicap1000 metres POTENT VIEW – Bumped on jumping and taken wider as a result. Raced wide with no cover throughout. SALTOREE – Heavily bumped on jumping losing ground as a result. Whilst inclined to lay out had to be steadied when placed in restricted room approaching the 100m. ATOUCHOFSYN – Shifted out abruptly on jumping making heavy contact with barrier partition and POTENT VIEW. Steadied when awkwardly placed on the heels near the 900m. DURUNDUR LAD – Change of tactics – To be ridden midfield with cover; heavily bumped on jumping losing ground and settled back as a result. SPECTATE – Raced wide throughout. Apprentice W Peel pleaded guilty to a charge under AR132(7)(a)(ii) in that she used her whip 6 times prior to the 100m, 1 more than permitted under the rule and was fined $300. (5th offence) Following this event, the on course doctor examined Dan McGillivray’s left foot and cleared him of any significant injury. Race 7: LJM PAINTING SERVICES BM68 HCP – 1000M MORT DOYLE – Bumped on jumping. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. DYNAMIC VERSE – Tightened on jumping. Restrained from heels rounding the home turn. FROZEN IN TIME – Raced wide throughout. When questioned regarding the improved performance, Trainer K Lees indicated that he believed that today’s event was a step down in grade and therefore expected a forward showing. He also added that the addition of blinkers had an affect on the improved performance. He further stated that he was disappointed with FROZEN IN TIME’s most recent start and whilst he could not explain the performance, he was of the view that as the horse had travelled to Queensland on the Thursday prior to the event, this may have had a detrimental effect on the horses performance. MOSCINI – Restrained from heels near the 500m. Had difficulty obtaining clear running in the early part of the straight until the 300m. BLACK SEA – Hampered badly on jumping. HIGHLAND SON – Began awkwardly shifting out contacting MORT DOYLE. Race 8: CLAYTONS TOWING BENCHMARK 62 Handicap 1400 metres LIABILITY – Began awkwardly losing ground. TICINO BELLE – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. RIVETTO (NZ) - Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after not competing in the past twelve months and was cleared to start. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a poor post-race recovery. STRICTLY PHYSICAL – Lost a near hind plate in running. Rider J Bayliss reported that he was disappointed with STRICTLY PHYSCIAL’s finishing effort, however added that the geldings best form is when racing at Ipswich. BECANDLENI – Rider A Mallyon reported that his mount was inclined to lay in under pressure in the home straight and as a result was obliged to steady from heels at the 150m and was then held up for clear running from that point onwards. GRANDIOSO – Hung out rounding the home turn. JOY’S REWARD – When questioned regarding the improved performance, Trainer L White stated that she could not explain JOY’S REWARD’s performance at its last start at the Gold Coast. She added that she had since had blood tests undertaken which didn’t reveal any significant findings and indicated that she would be refraining from starting JOY’S REWARD at the Gold Coast in the future.
