QUEENSLANDRACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT SUNSHINE COAST – SUNDAY 10 OCTOBER 2021 WEATHER – FINE TRACK RATING – GOOD 4 RAIL – 4M PENETROMETER – 6.5 OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – L HicksStewards – R Hanson, R Hitchener, E LittleClerk of Scales – J RobinsonJudge – P ChiltonVeterinarian – Dr S McGinnessSwab Attendants – J Crompton, L ChaplinStarter – S Tau GENERAL Due to the current covid restrictions the following overweight allowance was approved - Race 5- PRIME ASSET- James Orman +1/2kg As riders L McCoy (injured), M Kennedy (personal reasons), C Bayliss (personal reasons) and Z Lloyd (failed to obtain medical clearance) were all not riding at the meeting, rider replacements were made as per the Stewards summary. Race 1: DV SAFE PHONE Maiden Handicap 1200 metres PAR UN NEZ - Bumped heavily on jumping. Bumped heavily with SPRIGGER and lost ground near the 1100m. PREDICTIVE STATE - Fractious at the barriers. Began awkwardly and then over raced badly in the early stages proving very difficult to restrain. Shifted wider near the 1100m whilst over racing making heavy contact with another runner and as a result raced three wide with cover for the remainder. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. The stable representative for G Heinrich was advised a warning will be issued against the horses racing manners. BELLICOSITY (NZ) - Began awkwardly. BEANHUGGED - Dipped shortly after the start. KAZZA'S JET - Performed below market expectations. Jockey A Spinks reported the mare put in awkward stride near the 600m and from this point ran on only fairly when placed under pressure. Jockey Spinks added the mare raced greenly for the majority. A Post race Veterinary examination revealed the mare to have a poor post-race recovery. ASHGROVE - Raced three wide with cover throughout. SPRIGGER - Began awkwardly making heavy contact with another runner. Checked when bumped heavily by another runner near the 1100m. Improved onto heels nears the 700m and was eased. JOLLO - Lost a near hind plate in running. Raced keenly during the middle stages and near the 700m improved onto heels and shifted out. JUST LIKE RULER - Slow to begin. REGAL EYES - Held up rounding the home turn. Race 2: HOT 91.1 COUNTRY HEIST BENCHMARK 58 Handicap 1200 metres The start was delayed when LUCKY MACHU required resaddling behind the barriers. PROMPT REPLY - Bumped on jumping. LUCKY TIME - Began awkwardly. Raced three wide without cover for the majority. MADAM ETAK - A post-race Veterinary examination of the mare revealed it to have sustained a significant injury to the near fore tendon. Trainer D Reynolds was advised he would be required a Veterinary clearance for the mare prior to next racing. BOBBYBOUCHE - Began awkwardly. Bumped by another runner near the approaching the 700m. Race 3: DV SAFE PHONE Class 6 Handicap 1600 metres BETTER ETHICS - Over raced in the early and middles stages and as a result was steadied to avoid heels on a number of occasions. COSMIC GOSSIP - Laid in under pressure in the home straight. CABOCHON LIL - Slow to begin. AQUAJAK - Stewards questioned App. T Wheeler in relation to his riding of the gelding from the 800m when App Wheeler placed the gelding under pressure from this point of the race. App. Wheeler advised that it was his intention to lead today’s event however ZOFGOLD crossed his mount and as a result AQUAJAK commenced to over raced and it improved its position to the overside of that runner. Mr Wheeler went on to say that at a point near the 800m he commenced to ride his mount along to commence its finishing effort. Having had the opportunity to review the Stewards patrol footage, App Wheeler agreed with Stewards that he had erred in placing his mount under pressure from the 800m and in hindsight it would have been better to wait until a point closer to turning for home before commencing pressure his mount, which may have allowed the gelding to finish its race off better. Stewards however bearing in mind apprentice Wheeler’s relative inexperience, particularly at provincial venues took the matter no further. PATRICK'S ME MATE - Slow to begin. A post-race Veterinary examination of the gelding which tailed off failed to reveal any abnormalities. Trainer S Meskin was advised a warning would be issued against the gelding due to its poor performance. Race 4: CHOMLEY FAMILY LAW BENCHMARK 68 Handicap 1200 metres BETTER THAN GROOVY - Slow to begin. Near the 150m, was steadied to avoid the heels of HIGHLAND SON which shifted in whilst improving when not completely clear. A post-race Veterinary examination of the gelding revealed it to be lame in the off-hind leg. Trainer T Bourke was advised he would be required to obtain a Veterinary clearance for the gelding prior to next racing. BLUE TYCOON - Raced three wide without cover for the majority. Near the 150m was eased whilst weakening when placed in restricted room. MOSCINI – Had some difficulty obtaining clear running in the home straight. HIGHLAND SON - Tightened for room at the start and lost ground and as a result settled further back than anticipated. DEJANOVA - Raced keenly in the early stages. Held up rounding the home turn. Near the 150m was reluctant to improve to the outside of the heels of BLAZING MAC whilst laying in and as a result was steadied for a considerable distance when very awkwardly placed at heels. Race 5: MACKELLAR MINING QTIS Three-Year-Old Class 1 Plate 1000 metres ALBERT'S IN CHARGE - Began awkwardly. Momentarily steadied when awkwardly placed at heels neat the 800m. OUR HOT FRIEND - Began awkwardly. BERDINI'S GIRL - Began awkwardly. Laid in for the majority. ENTERPRISE POMME - Raced in restricted room for a short distance shortly after the start. KARAOKE QUEEN - Bounded on jumping causing Jockey B Thornton to become very unbalanced and the filly losing ground. Laid out rounding the home turn and in the home straight proving difficult to ride out. PRIME ASSET - Made contact with the barrier partition on jumping. Raced three wide without cover for the majority. Race 6: DV SAFE PHONE Class 3 Handicap 1300 metres MOCAMBO - Slow to begin. Steadied leaving the 1000m when momentarily placed in restricted room. GO DEEP - Trainer D Hansen was fined $200 for the later rider declaration of J Bayliss as the rider of the gelding. Slow to begin. FEDERAL AGENT - Laid in for the majority. IRISH THUNDER- A post-race Veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have sustained a superficial laceration to the off-hind pastern. BLACK SEA - Began awkwardly losing ground. Leaving the 1000m, was steadied whilst racing keenly to avoid the heels of GINGER ROCK shifted in when not completely clear. Jockey R Maloney the rider of GINGER ROCK was advised to exercise more care. Race 7: JWSOLUTIONS QLD Class 1 Handicap 1600 metres IMPACTFUL- Stood flat footed at the start and lost ground and then failed to muster early speed. Trainer C Morgan was advised a warning was issued against the gelding’s barrier manners. CLEARY ADONIS - Raced keenly during the middle stages. Brushed by another runner which shifted out to improve near the 200m. OUTBACK GLADIATOR - Reared on jumping and as a consequence lost considerable ground. Shifted out to improve near the 200m brushing with another runner. ICE ELITE – Raced three wide without cover for the majority. TONI TOO (NZ) - Laid in under pressure in the home straight. When questioned in relation to the seemingly improved performance of the mare which was heavily supported in betting, Trainer P Jenkins advised that mare had had always shown ability in its work and was able to win a maiden impressively during its previous preparation. He added that after winning its maiden mare had disappointed him at its next three starts and for that reason, he had spelled the mare. Mr Jenkins went onto to say that since returning from a spell the mare had work well and had performed strongly in a jump out and for that reason, he had wagered accordingly on the mare in todays event. Stewards noted the explanation. NITROGLYCERINE - Tightened for room at the start and lost ground. Raced ungenerously whilst being restrained near the 1200m. DU MAURIER - Approaching the 200m, shifted out to obtain clear running. HAPPY FRANK - Shifted out to improve near the 800m and as a consequence raced wide for the remainder. COLLAY’S SPIRIT - Near the 150m was steadied when awkwardly placed at heels. CALCAREOUS - Jockey J Orman advised that after beginning well the gelding was able to obtain a leading position without being pressured and as a consequence settled further forward than anticipated.
