Race 1: CHRISTMAS CREEK THOROUGHBREDS Class 4 Handicap 1300 metres KAAYDEH - Slow to begin. MAGIC LAD - Forced wider rounding the home turn. Race 2: GO TRANSIT MEDIA GROUP Class 1 Plate 1000 metres Subsequent to the running of race 1, track upgraded to a Good 4. ALLEZ ZOU (NZ) - Reared as start was effected and lost significant ground. Obliged to alter course after passing the 400m. MORGAN’S SMILE - Raced wide throughout. NAVILLUS EXCEL - Began awkwardly.Raced greenly in the middle stages. PAPERCLIP - Raced wide throughout. ALE MAGIC– Under LR70, trainer Leigh Wanless was fined $100 for the late declaration of rider. The gelding was found to have bled from both nostrils during the event. As this was the first time the gelding had bled, and acting under AR79 (iv), trainer Leigh Wanless was advised that the gelding would be stood down for a period of 3 months and must gallop 1000 metres in the presence of a Steward prior to resuming racing. TURNSTAR - Jockey R. Maloney was asked to comment on the gelding’s performance. He advised Stewards that he was disappointed with the horses’ finishIing effort and added in his opinion that TURNSTAR would benefit with the blinkers being placed back on the horses’ gear. Race 3: KENDRICK RACING OWNERS DAY RATINGS BAND 0 - 62 Handicap 1200 metres KING RAGNAR – Raced wide without cover and finished tailed off. A post race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities. WRITTLE – Slow to begin. Held up for clear running rounding the home turn. LEAVE ME ALONG – Put its head down as the start was affected and consequently lost significant ground. UNLIKELYOCCURRENCE – Slow to begin. Rider J. Bayliss reported that the gelding pulled up short in its action. A post race veterinary examination revealed lameness in off foreleg. A veterinary certificate is required prior to the mare racing again. Race 4: BAKER PACKAGING SERVICES PTY LTD QTIS Three-Year-Old Fillies Maiden Pl 1200 metres CHAMPAGNE POP – Slow to begin. Steadied when placed in restricted room near the 900m. Overraced in the middle stages. Rider L. Kilner reported that her mount raced greenly. DAMIANI – Began awkwardly. LUCKY BEAN – Raced wide. MISS ANTARCTICA – Raced wide. Rider J. Orman reported that the filly did not travel comfortably at any stage and when asked to improve from the 600m MISS ANTARCTICA failed to respond. PRICKLY POPPY (NZ) – Steadied after the start when buffeted between runners. Jockey M. Cahill was asked to comment on fillies’ performance; he stated that trainer P. Jenkins had advised him that the filly, in its trackwork and in a trial, has had a tendency to race keenly. He indicated that approaching the first turn, whilst there appeared to be an opportunity to improve to the inside of CAPITAL MISS, he was both concerned that CAPITAL MISS may shift to the fence and he also did not want to overly pressure his mount at that stage of the race due to the comments of Mr Jenkins. He added that from the 600m, he was obliged to ask the filly to improve and whilst PRICKLY POPPY did not initially respond, he was happy with the horses’ finishing effort as it was doing its best work over the concluding stages. He was also of the view that a step up in distance would benefit the filly. ROSE OF DUPORTH – Began awkwardly. Overraced approaching the 900m when restrained in an attempt to obtain cover. Raced three wide without cover throughout. Race 5: KREW RACING QTIS Three-Year-Old Colts and Geldings Maiden Plate 1200 metres BAD EDUCATION – After passing the 800m when the pace slackened, improved onto heels and had to be steadied. COMMIT TO SUCCESS - After passing the 800m when the pace slackened, improved onto heels and had to be steadied. DATA PATCH - After passing the 800m when the pace slackened, improved onto heels and had to be steadied. DEEP TEMPEST (NZ) – Began awkwardly and lost ground. When restrained after passing the 900m, commenced to hang out from that point onwards and particularly when under pressure in the home straight. I KNOW DAT – Slow to begin. Approaching the 700m was obliged to steady from heels and shift wider on the track, and then raced three wide for a short distance. VANTAN EXPRESS – Lacerated inside of off foreleg in tie up stalls. The gelding was scratched at 1.40pm on veterinary advice and treated on course. Co-trainer M. Hoysted was advised that a veterinary certificate will be required prior to VANTAN EXPRESS racing again. Race 6: CLARKE BLOODSTOCK Maiden Plate 1400 metres The start of this event was significantly delayed when the near fore plate of RAGING WATER needed to be refitted. I PONDER – Raced four wide without cover. KERMAKAYA – Slow to begin. LEORED – Slow to begin. PETRILLO (NZ) – Slow to begin. RAGING WATER (NZ) – Raced awkwardly near the 700m when placed in restricted room. ENTERPRISE MIA – Raced three wide without cover. GYPSY GODDESS (NZ) – Raced wide. SHEZA FIRECRACKER – Raced wide. CROWNING GLORY – Slow to begin. Jockey H. Richardson reported that the gelding did not travel comfortably at any stage of the event and raced greenly throughout. GIVEITALLALI – Slow to begin. Race 7: LAMBERT LOCATIONS Class 2 Handicap 1800 metres SHY GIRL (NZ) – Jockey A. Allen reported that it had not been his intention to lead, however when he was caught wide without cover during the early stages with no prospect of obtaining a position closer to the fence, he elected to press forward and took up the lead approaching the 1200m. TRAVOLI – Improved onto heels after passing the 600m and then shifted out abruptly approaching the 400m as a result. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. ELLASTRA - Near the 700m, shifted out to improve and in doing so forced RADICAL SPIRIT wider on the track. RADICAL SPIRIT – Forced wider near the 700m. Apprentice K. Wilson-Taylor reported that the horse hung out from that point onwards and he was disappointed in the horses’ overall performance. Trainer S. Kendrick will be interviewed in the coming days to discuss the horses performance and immediate racing future. A BIG CHANCE – Laid in under pressure in the home straight causing its rider to stop riding near the 100m and straighten. LIGHT OF ULURU – Slow to begin. Rider J. Bayliss dropped his whip near the 300m. CRAIGLEA KARLY – Slow to begin. Apprentice I. Teh was fined $400 under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for use of the whip on seven (7) occasions before the 100metres, being two (2) more than permitted. Race 8: SUNSHINE COAST PULSE THERAPY BENCHMARK 58 Handicap 1400 metres AQUAJAK – Hung out under pressure in the home straight. MISHANI DESTROYER – Began awkwardly. DREAM SONG – Raced wide. MISS ALLE BE – Raced wide. SIMON SAYS – Steadied shortly after the start when obliged to race in restricted room. BOLD DELAGO – Slow to begin. After passing the 800m was steadied to avoid the heels of EXPRESS DREAMS. S. Thornton, rider of EXPRESS DREAMS, was reprimanded for this incident. Lost the off fore plate in running.
