QUEENSLANDRACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT SUNSHINE COAST TURF CLUB SUNDAY 28TH NOVEMBER 2021 WEATHER – Overcast TRACK RATING – Heavy 8, Soft 7 after Race 1RAIL – 2 meters entire PENETROMETER – 6.8 OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – J WilliamsonStewards – P Chadwick, P Zimmermann, K Daly, P KennedyClerk of Scales – J RobinsonJudge – P ChiltonVeterinarian – Dr S McGinnusSwab Attendants – J Pedofsky, J CromptonStarter – W Abbey GENERAL Due to current Covid restrictions stewards permitted the following weight variation:Race 5: FEDERAL AGENT – M Cahill 55kgs (+1kg) Race 1: CENTURY 21 GRANT SMITH PROPERTY Maiden Plate 1200 metres The start of this event was delayed approximately 4 minutes when LADY MUMMA was very reluctant to proceed to the barriers. KERCHAK (NZ) – Began awkwardly. Raced three wide without cover the majority of the event. START STRUTTING – When over-racing near the 600 metres improved onto heels and had to be steadied. D'ESPRIT – Proved difficult to load. Trainer R Stenhouse was advised a warning would be placed on the mare’s barriers manners. MISS PIERRO – Slow to begin. Lost near hind plate in running. DUSTY DIAMOND – Raced ungenerously under pressure in the home straight. DUTCH GOLD – Began awkwardly. Raced three wide with cover for the majority of the event. LADY MUMMA – Delayed the start of the event when proved reluctant to proceed to the barriers. Trainer M Mair was advised LADY MUMMA must obtain a further barrier certificate prior to its next race start. Race 2: THE BIG BOING QTIS Two-Year-Old Maiden Plate 1000 metres Following the running of Race 1 the track was upgraded to Soft 7. ALL FOR ONE – Rider T Brooker reported the colt did not travel comfortably at any stage of the event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed ALL FOR ONE to be shin sore in the off foreleg. Trainer S Kendrick was advised the horse would require a veterinary clearance if it were to start within the next six weeks. EXTREMAARTY – Slow to begin. Laid out rounding the home turn. Shifted in abruptly under pressure approaching the winning post. REFUEL – Slow to begin. SAILOR'S SECRET – Began awkwardly. ISSHEGREY – Inclined to over-race when racing greenly near the 600 metres. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the filly to be making an abnormal respiratory noise. Trainer S Kendrick was advised ISSHEGREY would require a veterinary clearance, including results of a satisfactory endoscopic examination, prior to its next race start. Race 3: CAMPBELL CONSTRUCTION CO. Fillies and Mares RATINGSBAND 0 - 62 Handicap 1000 metres DAINTREE DIVA – Raced three wide with cover for the majority of the event. PURPLE DIAMOND – Had difficulty obtaining clear running in the early stages of the home straight. FIFTY FOUR SQUARES – Raced three wide without cover for the majority of the event. STARHATTAN – Steadied near the 500 metres when placed in restricted room. ME AS I AM – Slow to begin. Had difficulty obtaining clear running in the early stages of the home straight. DREAMALINA – Began awkwardly resulting in rider M Potgieter losing use of his offside stirrup iron and being placed at some disadvantage before regaining use passing the 900 metres. Race 4: TILERS TRADE CENTRE QTIS Three-Year-Old Maiden Plate 1600 metres Correct weight was delayed allowing L Cassidy, rider of MILTARY MEN, to view the start of the event to determine if MILITARY MEN was afforded a fair start. After doing so it was established that MILITARY MEN reared as the start was effected, and other than for its own actions, was afforded a fair start and as such was declared a runner. CASH ARTIST – Over-raced in the early stages of the event. Laid in passing the 400 metres and contacted the running rail. ECHOES OF MY MIND (NZ) – Slow to begin. MILITARY MEN – Reared as the start was effected and lost significant ground. KALPANA – T Brooker advised it was not her intention to lead however after being caught three wide in the early and middle stages progressed forward to lead the event from the 800 metres. SOCIAL DAME – Slow to begin. Race 5: HOME CARE ASSISTANCE Class 4 Handicap 1400 metres FEDERAL AGENT – Slow to begin. Laid in and contacted the running rail leaving the 1200 metres. Race 6: CHILLI BINS Fillies and Mares BENCHMARK 62 Handicap 1400 metres After being loaded into the barriers RATIONS reared and became cast. Subsequently declared a late scratching on veterinary advice at 4:17pm. On declaration of correct weight Stewards ordered all bets on RATIONS be refunded in full and the following deductions to apply: 1st SIENNA’S AWARD – 19c win, 18c place2nd VALLEY OF DREAMS – 17c place3rd COOL INTELLIGENCE – 14c place Trainer B Baldwin was advised RATIONS would require a further barrier certificate prior to its next race start. M Du Plessis, rider of RATIONS, was examined by the club doctor and cleared of any injury. VALLEY OF DREAMS – Held up for clear running between the 600 meters and the 500 metres. Difficulty obtaining clear running during the early stages of the home straight. COOL INTELLIGENCE – Slow to begin. Had difficulty obtaining clear running rounding the home turn. Rider J Orman reported the horse was inclined to lay out for the majority of the event. STRATOBEL – Rider B Thornton could offer no explanation for the disappointing performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a poor post-race recovery. Trainer N McCall advised stewards that she would have an endoscopic examination performed and the horse would likely be sent for a spell. UNLIKELYOCCURRENCE – Slow to begin. AMBER BLONDE – Raced wide for the majority of the event. Race 7: TOUCAN REMOVALS Class 1 Handicap 1800 metres ELEGANT DROVER – Raced three wide in the early stages of the event. LUVYOUANYTIME – Became awkwardly placed at heels rounding the home turn and was then inclined to lay in under pressure in the home straight. FAY CONQUERS ALL – Crowded on jumping. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to have bled from both nostrils for the first time. Trainer Dianne Murphy was advised FAY CONQUERS ALL would be stood from racing under AR79(4) for a period of 3 months and must gallop 1000 metres in the presence of Steward prior to its next race start. PORT MOURANT – Near the 1600 metres raced in restricted room and had to be steadied. Hung out from the 600 metres until entering the home straight. GULLFOSS – Slow to begin. BOLD DELAGO – Stood flatfooted at the start and lost significant ground. Raced wide from the 700 metres. At the request of trainer G Hay, underwent a post-race veterinary examination which revealed no abnormalities. CRAIGLEA CLINKERS – Rider H Phillips reported the horse was inclined to over-race in the middle stages and when attempting to restrain had a tendency to lay out.
