GENERAL
 
As K Wilson-Taylor was unable to attend the meeting due to personal reasons and B Thornton & M Cahill were injured and unable to fulfil their engagements, replacements were permitted as per raceday summary.
 
Stewards will inquire into the circumstances as to why PLATINUM DEAL (Race 6) trained by Mr M Boland for non-arrival on course within the prescribed time and necessitating it being declared a late scratching by order of Stewards.
 
Race 1: THE SURF CLUB MOOLOOLABA QTIS 3YO MDN HCP – 1200M
 
IL TORO D’ORO – Attempted a narrow run to the inside of AGOSTINI near the 200m and had to be steadied to avoid heels.
 
OUTBACK PLAYBOY – Jumped awkwardly contacting the inside barrier partition. When questioned regarding the performance, jockey B Thompson stated that his mount travelled well throughout but when placed under pressure, failed to respond to his riding and proved disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainers representative M Sharpe undertook to report back to stewards on the condition of OUTBACK PLAYBOY in the days subsequent.
 
REAWAKEN – Raced wide throughout.
 
SCRIPT WRITER – Near the 600m improved onto heels and had to be steadied.
 
PRINCESS SALLY – Laid out throughout the event proving difficult to ride. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer G Taylor was advised that PRINCESS SALLY would need to obtain a further barrier certificate.
 
SOOBLOND – Underwent a post-race veterinary examination at the request of its trainer which revealed a laceration to the near hind cannon.
 
RONLEE GAL – Restrained from the wide gate to take up a position closer to the fence. Near the 600m improved onto the heels of SCRIPT WRITER and had to be checked. Raced greenly near the 150m and rolled inwards.
 
AGOSTINI – Shifted in when placed under pressure over the final 250m.
 
CHAMPION PARADE – Raced wide throughout.
 
GAME STAR – Apprentice M Castle stated that her mount was inclined to lay out during the event.
 
Race 2: SMS FINANCE F&M C1 HCP – 1400M
 
LETHAL WARNING (NZ) – Bumped on jumping with FLICK. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Approaching the 250m had to be steadied from the heels of AMBER BLONDE.
 
IF YOU CAN DREAM – Restrained from the wide barrier to take up a position closer to the rail.
 
DRIZZLE – Raced keenly between the 1000m and 700m.
 
AMBER BLONDE – Raced very ungenerously in the early and middle stages. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
LAYLA’S SONG – Jumped awkwardly and was slow to begin and muster speed. Jockey A Spinks pleaded guilty to a charge under AR132(7)(a)(ii) in that he used his whip 8 times prior to the 100m, 3 more than permitted and was fined $600.
 
FLICK – Bumped on jumping with LETHAL WARNING.
 
CONGENIAL MISTRESS – Slow to begin.
 
After the running of this race the track was upgraded to a Soft (6).
 
Race 3: REGAN & CO REAL ESTATE F&M C2 HCP - 1000M
 
CHERRY SODA – Slow to begin.
 
SAKURA STAR – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
DOVETIAL DIVA – Shifted in on jumping contacting AMOROSITY.
 
ASHERLA – When questioned regarding the performance, jockey A Mallyon stated that his mount travelled well throughout the event but failed to respond to his riding when placed under pressure. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the filly to be displaying symptoms of heat stress.
 
SATINE – Raced wide throughout.
 
TRUE MOONLIGHT – Near the 700m was steadied away from the heels of FILLYRAE CYRUS.
 
AMOROSITY – Severely crowded on jumping.
 
Race 4: SHERRIN RENTALS MDN PLT - 1000M
 
The start was delayed when MAGIC BOOM required farrier attention behind the barriers.
 
Prior to the declaration of correct weight, Stewards viewed the films to ascertain whether FINNICKY was afforded a fair start. After reviewing the films, Stewards were satisfied that FINNICKY was afforded a fair start and correct weight was declared.
 
DOCTOR JACK – Raced ungenerously in the home straight and had to be steadied near the 150m.
 
MAGIC BOOM – Very slow to begin.
 
TYCOON JIM – Slow to begin. Near the 300m had to be steadied off the heels of RADIANT ROMANCE when placed in restricted room by DOCTOR JACK (R Jamieson) who shifted out. Jockey R Jamieson was advised to exercise more care when shifting ground in similar circumstances. Jockey A Fancourt reported that her mount laid in under pressure in the home straight proving very difficult to ride. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination at the request of its rider which revealed mild heat stress.
 
PRINCE AMONGST MEN – As R Maloney was unable to make the weight, he was replaced by R Fradd. Raced three wide throughout.
 
FINNICKY – Reared as the start was affected and took no competitive part in the event. Trainer S Kendrick was advised that FINNICKY will be required to obtain a further barrier certificate prior to its next start. Jockey J Bayliss was examined by QAS officials and cleared to fulfill his remaining engagements.
 
I AM WINKLES – Slow to begin.
 
KABOOM – Slow to begin.
 
QWICK – Proved very difficult to proceed to the gates. Trainer S Parsons was advised that QWICK would require a further barrier certificate prior to its next start. Raced three wide throughout. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
BEAUTA – Slow to begin.
 
After the running of this race, the track was upgraded to a Soft (5).
 
Race 5: PROMO GEAR C,G&E C2 HCP – 1000M
 
MISHANI FRAUDSTER – Bumped approaching the winning post when BELTARIA shifted in.
 
BELTARIA – Had difficulty obtaining clear running over the final 150m. Accidentally struck in the head by another runner’s whip close to the winning post.
 
SQUIRREL HUNTER (NZ) – Hampered on jumping.
 
SHAJAEA – Shifted out and knuckled shortly after jumping.
 
AURON – Turned its head as the start was affected and lost significant ground. Approaching the 600m commenced to overrace and had to be steadied from the heels of REAL HUSSEY who laid in marginally despite the efforts of its rider. Near the 200m steadied when BELTARIA rolled in marginally. When questioned regarding the performance, jockey B Stewart reported that he wasn’t overly disappointed with the performance as after the incident at the start he was forced to race in the back half of the field. He added his mount was inclined to lay in down the home straight and in his opinion, the gelding would benefit from a step up in distance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed mild heat stress and to be showing symptoms of the thumps.

DARK HORSE – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after becoming fractious in the barriers and was cleared to start. Slow to begin.
 
HE’S THE NEWS – As R Maloney was unable to make the weight, he was replaced by M Du Plessis. R Maloney was subsequently fined $200 under AR190(3). Raced wide throughout.
 
REAL HUSSEY – Laid in marginally near the 600m despite the efforts of its rider.
 
MY COUSIN JAMES – Raced wide throughout.
 
Race 6: 6 CAMPBELL CONSTRUCTION BM62 HCP – 1800M
 
LUVYOUANYTME – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
JUST A PATSY – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
LIKEABEEL – When questioned regarding the performance, jockey C Bayliss stated that LIKEABEEL raced flat today and in his opinion had come to the end of its preparation.
 
PLATINUM DEAL – Declared a late scratching at 1.56pm after failing to arrive on course.
 
Race 7: CLUTCH LEGAL RATINGS BAND 0 - 58 HCP – 1200M
 
KOHIKO – Jumped awkwardly contacting the barrier partition.
 
ONE MORE CAST – Raced three wide without cover throughout.
 
MIDNIGHT RAMBLER – Jumped awkwardly losing ground. Improved onto the heels of BOOM CHUGGA LUGGA (K Cowan) near the 150m when that runner shifted in and went to the line without being fully tested. Apprentice K Cowan was reminded of her obligations to keep her mounts on a true racing line when being tested.
 
DISCRETELY ALEISHA – Slow to begin before mustering speed.
 
STROMTROOPER – Shifted out on jumping.
 
BOOM CHUGGA LUGGA – Shifted ground inwards over the final 250m.
 
Race 8: BLOKE IN A BAR BM85 HCP – 1400M
 
VICTORY EIGHT – Jumped awkwardly losing ground.
 
WALKING FLYING (NZ) – Severely checked on jumping. Upon pulling up the mare went amiss on assessment from the veterinary surgeon who suspected a cardiac event and the mare subsequently passed away. Swab samples were taken.
 
BARGANNON – Raced three wide throughout.
 
INDISPENSIBLE – Held up rounding the home turn and had difficulty obtaining clear running in the early part of the straight.
 
STAR VIRGO – Jumped awkwardly shifted in. Near the 150m was accidentally struck across the head by another runner.
 
DZSENIFER – Obliged to steady when approaching the line when INDISPENSIBLE rolled in and STAR VIRGO rolled out.
 
RUUCA – Jumped awkwardly.
 
Race 9: BRONCOS GAME DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM BM75 HCP – 1400M
 
CONQUER THE STARS – Raced wide throughout the event.
 
FOREIGN TERRITORY (NZ) - Near the 600m improved onto the heels of CONQUER THE STARS and shifted wider. Made the home turn awkwardly and continued to lay out in the home straight.
 
GETYOURGREYON – Rolled in marginally near the 100m.
 
ROLLINWITHTHEFLOW – Raced three wide in the early and middle stages. Pulled up quickly on return to scale and underwent a post-race veterinary examination which revealed the gelding to be displaying heat stress.
 
SAVVY OAK – Slow to begin. Near the 100m improved onto the heels of GETYOURGREYON which rolled in, obliging apprentice L Kilner to shift wider to obtain clear running.
 
IMPAVIDO –Very slow to begin.
 
VISTABELLE (NZ) – Apprentice A Thompson reported that his saddle shifted shortly after jumping which placed him at a disadvantage throughout the event.
 
BETTER THAN GROOVY – When questioned regarding the improved performance, trainer T Bourke stated that at his previous start at Sunshine Coast on the 20th November, BETTER THAN GROOVY resented racing to the inside of runners, however he was still pleased with how the gelding finished off its race and considering its beaten margin. He added that he had instructed jockey R Stewart to attempt to make his run to the outside of runners in today’s event where he believes BETTER THAN GROOVY races best. He added that he wasn’t overly surprised with the result as he was expecting a forward showing. Stewards noted his comments.
