Race 1 now 12.40pm Race 2 now 1.15pmRace 3 now 1.50pm Race 4 now 2.25pm Race 5 now 3.05pm Race 6 now 3.45pm Race 7 now 4.25pm Race 8 now 5.05pm Race 9 now 5.40pm GENERAL As Jockey R Wiggins and C Meehan were indisposed, Stewards permitted changes as per the Stewards’ race day summary. Stewards approved the following riders to ride overweight. Race 3 – Michael Hellyer (Kings Row) plus 1kg at 55kg.Race 7 – Les Tilley (Rations) plus 1/2kg at 56kg. Race 1: AMPUTEE SUPPORT ASSOCIATION QUEENSLAND Fillies and Mares Maiden Handic 1400 metres Dream Mix – Late scratching at 11.32am on veterinary advice. Just Gigi – Approaching the 800m as the pace of the race steadied, had to be restrained after improving onto the heels of D’ESPRIT. I Am Sumi – Hampered on jumping away. Overraced in the early and middle stages. Following todays event, trainer A Jones reported that the mare was lame in the off foreleg. Trainer A Jones was advised that a veterinary clearance would be required prior to next start. Rebel Tinge – Passing the 200m had to be restrained to avoid the heels of GODDESS OF DREAMS, which shifted in despite the efforts of its rider. African Storm – Hampered on jumping away. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight. Goddess Of Dreams – Jumped away awkwardly. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight and passing the 200m shifted in despite the efforts of its rider and hampered REBEL TINGE. Race 2: THE FENCING SPECIALISTS Colts, Geldings and Entires Maiden Handicap 1400 metres The start of this race was delayed approximately 3 mins owing to gear being required to be adjusted on RICHUNCLEMONEYBAGS. Judas – Passing the 800m became awkward in its action when becoming awkwardly placed on the heels of INJUSTICE. Daulat Ulti Maiora – Jumped away awkwardly. Held up for clear running on entering the straight and passing the 150m had to be checked to avoid the heels of SPRIGGER which shifted out when insufficiently clear. Jockey R. Jamieson, rider of SPRIGGER was found guilty of a charge of careless riding and was suspended for 7 days to commence midnight 11 January 2022 to midnight 18 January 2022. Gibbed – Reared on jumping away. Hampered shortly after jumping away. Richunclemoneybags – Laid out when placed under pressure in the straight. Injustice – Raced wide throughout the event. Sprigger – Overraced in the early stages. Held up for clear running approaching the 150m and shifted out to improve. Race 3: SCOOTERS AND MOBILITY SUNSHINE COAST Class 3 Handicap 2200 metres Impavido – Passing the 1400m shifted three wide in an attempt to improve its position. Passing the 1200m was able to cross and lead. When questioned in relation to the tactics adopted in todays event, Jockey N Fazackerley reported that he was mindful that the gelding lacked a finishing sprint and as the pace of today’s race was slow in the early stages, he elected to improve his position in the middle stages. He added that once he was able to cross and lead passing the 1200m, his mount weakened noticeably and ran to the line in a disappointing manner. Trainer J Bellamy reported that he would report back on the condition of the gelding in the days subsequent. Grand Shanghai – Knuckled shortly after jumping. Tripper- Slow to begin. Overraced in the early stages. Race 4: DYNAMIC PROSTHETICS AND ORTHOTICS QTIS Two-Year-Old Maiden Handicap 1000 metres The start of the race was delayed approximately 3 mins owing to ALERT STATE being required to be resaddled behind the barriers. Whistling Spirit – Jumped away awkwardly. Held up for clear running on entering the home straight and had to shift out passing the 200m to improve. Spanish Angels – Slow to begin. Approaching the 800m had to be restrained and lost ground after becoming awkwardly placed on the heels while racing in restricted room between FLORAL OASIS and MISHANI MERLOT, which rolled in marginally. Raced green and laid under pressure in the straight. Rider reported that her mount had a tendency to lay in throughout the event and proved difficult to ride her mount out over the concluding stages. Midnight In Tokyo – Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight. Mishani Merlot – Raced wide throughout the event. Mishani Sunshine – Jumped away awkwardly and shifted out abruptly. Raced greenly in the early and middle stages. Passing the 600m became awkward in its stride after racing in restricted room. Following the running of this event, the track was upgraded to a heavy 8. Race 5: MR INK TATTOO & BARBER LOUNGE QTIS Three-Year-Old Colts and Geldings Maiden Plate 1000 metres The start of the race was delayed approximately 3 mins owing to MISHANI BANDIT being required to be resaddled behind the barriers. Bold Rumble – Laid out when placed under pressure in the straight and proved difficult to ride out over the concluding stages. Buying Time – Steward acceded to a late gear change for the removal of a tongue tie from the geldings approved gear. Claudius – Approaching the 700m had to be steadied after improving onto heels and raced ungenerously for a number of strides thereafter. Fire Up Bruce - Become fractious in the barriers following MONT ROYAL becoming cast. Momentarily inconvenienced passing the 200m when racing in restricted room. Mishani Bandit – Become fractious in the barriers following MONT ROYAL becoming cast. Jumped away awkwardly. Mont Royal – Was a late scratching on veterinary advice at 3.08pm after rearing in the barriers and becoming cast. Race 6: SHED 9 COCKATOO QTIS Three-Year-Old Fillies Maiden Plate 1000 metres The start of this race was delayed approximately 5 minutes owing to IMMEDIATE RESPONSE required farrier attention behind the barriers. Immediate Response – Raced greenly in the early stages. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight. Raceday Glamour – Jumped away awkwardly and raced greenly in the early stages of the event. Rusty Rose – Late scratching on veterinary advice at 10.17am. Smashingplates – Slow to begin. Just Vera - Jumped away awkwardly and was slow into stride. Raced wide throughout the event. Race 7: RIDING FOR THE DISABLED Class 2 Plate 1400 metres Double Barrell – Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight. Edification – Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight. Reflective – Overraced in the early and middle stages. Raced wide throughout the event. Rations (NZ) – Momentarily held up for clear running on entering the home straight. Rozeira - Passing the 1200m was placed in restricted room and brushed the running rail after SHOPPING ESPRIT shifted in before being corrected. Jockey T Brooker, rider of SHOPPING ESPRIT, was reminded of her obligations to stop and straighten her mount when they shift ground in future. Starhattan – Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight. Following the running of this event the track was upgraded to a Soft 7. Race 8: DONATE LIFE BENCHMARK 68 Handicap 1400 metres Starsonic – Hampered approaching the finish line by BAYERISCHE which was attempting to improve. Rest Of The World – Stood flatfooted as the start was effected and was slow into stride. Overraced in the early and middle stages. Redstone – Trainer advised that gelding would be ridden further forward. Ridden accordingly. Gave Us Up – Held up for clear running passing the 300m and had to shift out to improve. Bayerische – Held up for clear running on entering the home straight and shifted in in an attempt to improve. Held up for clear running from passing the 200m to inside the 100m and then was disappointed for a run to the inside of STARSONIC, contacting STARSONIC approaching the finish. When questioned in relation to the tactics adopted on the gelding, especially on entering the home straight, Jockey Du Plessis stated that he was instructed to settle at the rear of the field as per the geldings racing pattern and not to expose the gelding too early. He added he was instructed to ride for luck rather than shift wide in the straight and potentially travel off the crown of the track which he felt was inferior going. He added that on entering the home straight, he shifted in as per his instructions and was able to obtain a position following GAVE US UP which he felt would carry him into the race but after that gelding became held up passing the 300m he shifted in and attempted to improve into a run to the inside of STARSONIC but wasn’t able to improve and ran to the line without being fully tested. Trainer S Kendrick confirmed the instructions provided. Stewards advised connections that they intend to analyse the betting data of the race. Race 9: LIMBS 4 LIFE BENCHMARK 62 Handicap 1000 metres King Ragnar – Raced wide throughout the event. Hallowed Dreams – Raced wide throughout the event. Kaliya – Passing the 900m was severely hampered and clipped the heels of BELISTIC MAN, which shifted out despite the efforts of its rider. Belistic Man – Overraced in the early and middle stages and shifted out. Raced wide throughout the event. Tallahassee Lassie – Momentarily inconvenienced shortly after jumping away.
