Race 1: BATTERY WISE STAFF Maiden Handicap 2200 metres
 
 
Bonjour Mate – Began awkwardly.
 
Scarlet Pimpernel – Cast its near fore plate.
 
Monaco Deluxe – Held up at the heels of a tiring runner near the 800m. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
County Love – Rider elected to improve three wide near the 1400m to the position outside the leader near the 1200m. Commenced to lose ground passing the 800m. Post-race veterinary examination determined that the mare was exhibiting the thumps and a possible respiratory condition. Trainer Heading was advised that a veterinary clearance to include the results of an endoscopic examination would be required prior to it resuming. Trainer Heading was also advised that COUNTRY LOVE would also be required to trial to the satisfaction of stewards prior to resuming.
 
Power Punch (NZ) – Hampered on jumping.
 
 
 
Race 2: BATTERY WISE SUPPLIERS QTIS Two-Year-Old Maiden Plate 1000 metres
 
 
Curry Legend – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Had difficulty securing clear running in the early part of the straight.
 
Jemeldi – Slow to begin. Raced wide.
 
Spiritualised – Over raced in the early and middle stages. Rider reported that the colt would derive benefit from today’s experience.
 
Heroic Miss – Delayed the start when it was reluctant to proceed to the barriers and a warning was issued.
 
Kihi – Began awkwardly. Raced greenly throughout. Bumped with Mishani Merlot near the 300m. Post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Stewards will follow up with co trainers T & M Sears in the ensuing days as to how the filly has recovered.
 
Mishani Merlot – Began awkwardly. Raced wide. Near the 300m was bumped by KIHI when it shifted out to improve.
 
 
Race 3: SUPERCHARGE BATTERIES Colts, Geldings and Entires Class 1 Handicap 1000 metres
 
Elegist – Slow to begin.
 
Super Famous – Began awkwardly.
 
Belistic Man – Began awkwardly. Rider reported that after beginning well and with limited speed shown to his inside he elected to press forward and assume the lead. Cast its near hind plate.
 
Regal Conqueror – Tightened on jumping and lost ground. Shifted out under pressure in the home straight.
 
Dunkirk – Slow to begin, then hampered between runners and lost ground.
 
 
Race 4: BATTERY WISE SUNSHINE COAST Maiden Handicap 1000 metres
 
Prior to the running of this event the track was upgraded to a Good 4.
 
Bakuhatsu – Began awkwardly.
 
Cracking Thunder – Rider reported the gelding would appreciate race distances further than that of today’s event.
 
Canny Be Better – Raced wide.
 
Forbidden One (NZ) –As the mare had not started for an extended period it underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start. Buffeted between runners shortly after the start. Raced wide. Post-race veterinary examination revealed an abrasion to its near fore leg.
 
Valley Of Roses – Very fractious in the barriers, began awkwardly and lost significant ground. Trainers’ representative for the G Heinrich Stable was advised that the filly would require a barrier certificate prior to resuming. Jockey A Fancourt was examined post-race by the club doctor after she was struck in the head by her runner on leaving the barriers and cleared to fulfil her remaining engagements.
 
Regal Eyes – Raced wide.
 
 
 
Race 5: 20 YEARS IN BUSINESS Fillies and Mares Class 1 Handicap 1000 metres
 
Saltoree – Bumped on jumping. Held up for clear running approaching the home turn.
 
Brilliantly – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Held up for clear running approaching the home turn.
 
Thawra – Began awkwardly. Raced wide.
 
Crymenotears – Near the 800m when racing tightly between runners, was bumped on the hind quarters and became unbalanced. Raced wide.
 
Soul Spirit – Raced wide. Rider reported that the filly may appreciate distances greater than that of today’s event when able to take up a forward position closer to the rail.
 
Clairvue Lady – Laid out when placed under pressure in the home straight. Post-race veterinary examination determined that it was lame in its left hind leg. Trainer was advised that it would require a veterinary clearance prior to it resuming.
 
Mori's Press – Began awkwardly. Raced wide. Trainer Shane Iverson when questioned regarding the seemingly improved performance of the mare stated that when Mori’s Press raced at Roma on 20 November 2022 it did not appreciate the racing surface. Mr Iverson also added that on that day the mare worked keenly to the barriers and subsequently he added pre-race muffs to its official gear in an attempt to improve its pre-race manners. Mr Iverson further noted that whilst Mori's Press form showed that it had not started since 20/11/21 it had in fact competed at an Emerald Meeting on 31/12/21 however the event was subsequently declared a no race due to a barrier malfunction. Stewards noted his comments.
 
 
 
Race 6: BATTERY WISE CUSTOMERS RATINGS BAND 0 - 62 Handicap 1400 metres
 
Shopping Esprit – Slow to begin.
 
Corvo – Checked between runners on jumping and lost ground.
 
Irish Thunder – Post race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. A swab sample was taken. Stable representative M Eggleston indicated that it may be ridden more conservatively at subsequent starts.
 
Bellicose – Checked on jumping and lost ground. Raced wide.
 
Jabali Gold – Began very awkwardly and shifted in abruptly. Rider reported that the gelding hung in throughout.
 
Rise'n'shine – Trainer B Hull was fined $100 pursuant to LR67 for a late rider declaration.
 
Danish Fortune – Laid out near the 800m.
 
Miss Too Fly – Bumped on the hind quarters shortly after the start,
 
Pure Indulgence – Checked between runners on jumping and lost ground.
 
Live Music – Slow to begin.
 
Congenial Mistress – Checked between runners on jumping and lost ground.
 
Race 7: BATTERY WISE RV SPECIALISTS BENCHMARK 58 Handicap 1200 metres
 
 
 
Real Hussey – Laid out near the 800m then raced wide for the remainder.
 
Devine Factor – Held up momentarily for clear running rounding the home turn
 
Festivaa – Began awkwardly, shifted out making heavy contact with Kaliya. Raced wide.
 
Kaliya – Bumped heavily on jumping and lost ground.
 
Royale Return – Began awkwardly
 
Boom Chugga Lugga – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
 
Starhattan – Jockey T Brooker was fined $300 pursuant to AR132(7)(a)(ii) in that she used her whip 6 times prior to the 100m.
