QUEENSLANDRACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT SUNSHINE COAST TURF CLUB SUNDAY 6th FEBRUARY 2022 WEATHER – Overcast TRACK RATING – Soft 7, Soft 6 @ 12:20pm RAIL – 4m entire OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – J WilliamsonStewards – J Aadms, G Goold, K Daly, C SimpsonClerk of Scales – J RobinsonJudge – P ChiltonVeterinarian – Dr C CavanaghSwab Attendants – L Chaplin, J PedofskyStarter – R Hanson GENERAL Due to current Covid restrictions, Stewards permitted the following weight variations:Race 5: BONNIE AND CLYDE – T Wolgfram - 55.5kgs (+1kg)Race 7: HAMLET VON SNITZEL – A Mallyon - 56kgs (+0.5kg) Race 1: ADAPTIVE BODIES ALLIED HEALTH QTIS Three-Year-Old BENCHMARK 65 Handicap 1600 metres After rearing and slipping over dislodging rider L Cassidy when moving out onto the track, NAUGHTY HARRY broke away from the Clerk of the Course, galloped a significant distance on the course proper and was declared a late scratching at 12:50pm. On declaration of correct weight Stewards ordered all bets on NAUGHTY HARRY refunded in full and the following deductions to apply: 1st OUT HOT FRIEND – 38c win, 35c place2nd PERFECT ENCOUNTER – 31c place3rd BAYERISCHE – n/a Trainer D Van Dyke was advised NAUGHTY HARRY must trial satisfactorily prior to its next race start. A veterinary examination of the horse revealed no abnormality. BAYERISCHE – Laid in rounding the home turn and continued to do so when placed under pressure in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed abrasions to the near hind bumper. BIRAGUE – After sustaining a minor laceration to the nearside hip when being transported to the track, underwent a pre-race veterinary examination, and was cleared to start. Bumped on jumping away. PERFECT ENCOUNTER – Jumped out at the start and bumped BIRAGUE. OUR HOT FRIEND – On arrival at the barriers the saddle on the horse was adjusted. Slow to begin. SAINT BARTHOLOMEW – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. When asked to comment rider R Stewart advised the horse raced keenly throughout the event and suggested going forward SAINT BARTHOLOMEW may benefit with the removal of blinkers. STAR CHANCE – Lost the off fore plate in running. Race 2: CALOUNDRA RSL SERVICES CLUB QTIS Two-Year-Old Maiden Handicap 1000 metres CAPITEEL – Start was delayed after the horse proved difficult to load. Trainer’s representative for L Freedman was advised CAPITEEL would require a further barrier certificate prior to its next race start. Slow to begin. JUST THE VONNIE – Hampered after passing the 500m and again near the 300m when racing to the inside of SPUR ME which was inclined to lay in throughout the event. When asked to comment rider B Thompson reported the horse raced greenly throughout and would derive benefit from the race experience. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. SPUR ME – Inclined to lay in throughout the event placing its rider at a disadvantage in the home straight. STUCK IN A DREAM – Slow to begin. Steadied from heels of JUST THE VONNIE when over-racing approaching the 600m. Had a tendency to race greenly throughout the event. TORQUE ESPAGNA – As A Mallyon was delayed due to traffic issues, Stewards permitted M Du Plessis to ride the horse. Race 3: CLUB KAWANA BENCHMARK 68 Handicap 1000 metres The start of this event was delayed approximately 5 minutes when BELISTIC MAN required farrier attention on arrival at the barriers. PLENTY – Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout the event. QUEEN SWEEPER – Hung out from the 800m until entering the home straight. Raced wide throughout the event. LUCIFER'S LOOT – When asked to comment on the disappointing rider J Orman stated LUCIFER’S LOOT was inclined to hang in from the 400m placing him at some disadvantage and being unable to fully test the horse over the concluding stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a poor post-race recovery. Trainer N McCall was advised the horse would require a veterinary clearance, including a satisfactory endoscopic report, prior to its next race start. A swab sample was taken from LUCIFER’S LOOT. MAYBE THE BEST – Began awkwardly. Held up for clear running from the 500m until a point near the 200m. AMUNGEE – Held up in the early stages of the home straight. BELISTIC MAN – On arrival at the barriers the nearside plate was refitted. Jumped out at the start. Race 4: CALOUNDRA RSL SUB BRANCH Fillies and Mares Maiden Plate 1200 metres BALLISTIC BABE – Bumped heavily at the start and lost ground. Forced wider rounding the home turn and became awkwardly placed at the heels of NIGHT VISION. Was disappointed for a run near the 300m when MISS TAPESTRY shifted in under pressure and again obliged to steady near the 100m between MISS TAPESTRY and HOME OF GOOLAGONG which shifted in before going to the line not fully tested. ENTERPRISE BELLA – Checked at the start. Over-raced in the middle stages of the event. HOME OF GOOLAGONG – Raced wide throughout the event. MORETON BAY – Bumped on jumping. TESAURA – Jumped out at the start and bumped with MORETON BAY. MISS TAPESTRY – Jumped out at the start and bumped BALLISTIC BABE LYNDALL – Slow to begin. Lost off fore plate in running. KABOOM – Jumped in at the start bumping with ENTERPRISE BELLA. Laid in under pressure in the early stages of the home straight. Race 5: THE LOCAL BEERWAH BENCHMARK 65 Handicap 1600 metres QUOTANT – Blundered at the start almost dislodging rider S Tomlinson and lost ground. Approaching the winning post DUKE OF BUCKINGHAM shifted out abruptly before being corrected by its rider resulting in QUOTANT being checked and PRINCESS CAVALLO being hampered. IF YOU CAN DREAM – Over-raced in the middle stages. RATIONS (NZ) – Slipped on jumping and lost ground. Held up for clear running between the 500m and the 300m. PRINCESS CAVALLO – Hampered approaching the winning post. MISS TOO FLY – Over-raced in the middle stages. BONNIE AND CLYDE (NZ) – After over-racing at the rear of the field in the early stages was shifted wider on the track at the 1200m and raced three wide from that point. DUKE OF BUCKINGHAM – Shifted out abruptly approaching the winning post. Race 6: YOUNG VETERANS Class 1 Handicap 1300 metres DAY DAY SUPREME – Bumped at the start. Raced in restricted room near the 200m and had to be steadied to the inside of CORBIN which shifted in. HEAVENLY JOURNEY – Checked at the start when crowded for room between runners. Held up for a short distance passing the 500m then obliged to alter course outwards near the 300m to secure clear running. LE FORCE – Jumped in at the start. Raced three wide with cover for the majority. SHE'S AN EAGLE – Slow to begin. Over-raced in the middle stages of the event. JEEHAAN – Slow to begin. Over-raced in the middle stages of the event. BRUJA – Began awkwardly. Inconvenienced when weakening near the 300m. NOKONDI – Raced three wide without cover for the majority. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. CHICAMO – Raced three wide with cover for the majority. Approaching the 400m improved onto heels and had to be steadied. CORBIN – Over-raced in the middle stages of the event. AGARN - Began awkwardly. Near the 400m steadied from the heels of the weakening NOKONDI. Raced three wide with cover for the majority. Over-raced in the middle stages of the event. Race 7: TAPS MOOLOOLABA Class 4 Handicap 1200 metres ALL TO DO – Jumped out at the start. MOUTON (NZ) – When asked to comment on the disappointing performance rider J Orman stated the horse travelled comfortably in run however when placed under pressure failed to respond to his riding and was disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the horse to have bled from both nostrils. Trainer S Kendrick was advised MOUTON would be stood down from racing under AR79(4) for a period of 3 months and 1000m gallop in the presence of a Steward. Bumped at the start. GOLLY HUTT – Declared a late scratching at 2:28pm on veterinary advice. Trainer M Reynolds was advised the horse would require a veterinary clearance prior to its next race start. HAMLET VON SNITZEL – When asked to comment on the disappointing performance rider A Mallyon stated the horse travelled comfortably in run however when placed under pressure failed to respond to his riding and was disappointing. HE'S THE NEWS – Checked at the start between ALL TO DO which jumped out and RIOT ACT which jumped in. ACHIEVE VICTORY – After being slow to begin jumped away awkwardly and lost significant ground. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. ROCK ON DESTINY – On arrival at the barriers the saddle on the horse was adjusted.
