GENERAL
 
Public announcements were made by way of social media and the on-course broadcaster to advertise that approval had been given on Friday 4th March for the below horses to be transferred to the stable of Megan Purvis from trainer Gavin Dempsey:
MY BEST EFFORT, ZAKHEERA, GDANSK, RATHER SALUBRIOUS
 
Race 1: SKY RACING COUNTRY HEIST BENCHMARK 68 Handicap
1000 metres
 
MY BEST EFFORT – Laid out under pressure in the home straight.
 
METRO TRAMP – Race wide throughout.
 
ZAKHEERA – Slow to begin.
 
Race 2: COAST 2 COAST EARTHMOVING Maiden Handicap 1600 metres
 
HARVESTA – Over-raced in the early stages and approaching the 1300m had to be steadied from the heels of REGION EFF.
 
SUMMIT SPECIAL (NZ) – Inconvenienced over the concluding stages when taken wider by CHOSEN DISTANCE.
 
ENJOUEE (FR) – Bumped on jumping.
 
CHOSEN DISTANCE – shifted out in the home straight taking SUMMIT SPECIAL (NZ) WIDER over the concluding stages. Rider N. Masuda was reprimanded pursuant to AR 131(a) for failing to keep his mount straight.
 
SEEMEINROME (NZ) – Jumped awkwardly and bumped ENJOUEE.
 
Race 3: WILD HORSE TURF RATINGS BAND 0 - 65 Handicap 1600 metres
 
BLACKBOOTS – Slow to begin. Rider B. Thompson reported that the mare was making an abnormal respiratory noise over the concluding stages of the event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a poor post-race recovery. Trainer K. Fogden advised that she would have an endoscopic examination conducted on the mare and would forward the results to stewards.
 
KELLERS SHELTER – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
RATIONS (NZ) – Was restrained when caught racing wide in the early stages in an effort to obtain cover however was unable to secure a position and was then permitted to stride forward to the position outside the leader nearing the 1200m point.
 
RESET'S SON - Over-raced in the early stages.
 
STELLAR – Over-raced in the early stages.
 
Race 4: ALLCHIN AIRCONDITIONING & REFRIGERATION Maiden
Handicap 1200 metres
 
CRITICAL THINKER - Raced wide with cover throughout. Shifted out under pressure approaching the 250m.

BRONZE DRAGON – Raced wide throughout.
 
LEORED – Slow to begin.
 
EMALEAH – Connections advised that the intention would be to ride the mare with cover. The mare was ridden accordingly. Jumped awkwardly. Raced greenly from the 600m and the laid out in the home straight, proving difficult for the rider to fully test the mare over the concluding stages.
 
CALATHIEL – Bumped on jumping. Raced wide from the 800m. Inconvenienced approaching the 300m when EMALEAH shifted out.
 
AFROGINASOCK – Attempted to buck approaching the 1100m. Trainer M. Kropp was advised that the gelding would be required to officially trial before being permitted to race again. Over-raced nearing the 900m. Had to be steadied approaching the 250m when CRITICAL THINKER shifted out. Apprentice J. Molloy the rider of CRITICAL THINKER was reprimanded pursuant to AR 131(a) for this incident.
 
Race 5: KENDRICK RACING QTIS Three-Year-Old Maiden Plate 1200 metres
 
EMMY REGINA –Raced wide throughout.
 
IMMEDIATE RESPONSE – Jumped awkwardly. Shifted out under pressure approaching the 200m.
 
RISING SPIRIT - Raced wide throughout. Rider B. Thompson reported that the filly settled further back than anticipated and, in his opinion, would appreciate races over distances further than that of todays event.
 
ROSE OF DUPORTH – Jumped awkwardly and bumped THE WHITE MOUSE. Raced wide throughout.
 
RUSTY ROSE – Checked approaching the 200m when IMMEDIATE RESPONSE shifted out under riding. Apprentice Z. Lloyd, the rider of IMMEDIATE RESPONSE, in the presence of senior rider L. Cassidy, was found guilty of a charge of careless riding pursuant to AR 131(a) in that after striking his mount with the whip and with the filly commencing to shift out he continued to place pressure on his mount with the whip which resulted in IMMEDIATE RESPONSE shifting out further when insufficiently clear of RUSTY ROSE causing that horse to checked. Apprentice Z. Lloyd was suspended from riding in races for a period of 13 days commencing midnight 06/3/2022. Apprentice Z. Lloyd was advised of his right to internal review.
 
THE WHITE MOUSE – Bumped at the start. Raced greenly in the home straight.
 
Race 6: ALL FENCING SUNSHINE COAST Fillies and Mares Class 1
Handicap 1200 metres
 
The start of this race was delayed due to storm activity in the area of the racecourse. As a result, all races were put back one race with the last race scheduled for 5:55pm.
 
LOVE MY SUPER – Rider S. Cormack reported that his mount failed to handle the rain affected track conditions.
 
MARTINI SPECIAL - Race wide throughout.
 
SUBAYAI – Slow to begin. Raced keenly approaching the 900m and had to be steadied off heels.
 
PEACHIES DREAM – Race wide throughout.
 
 
Race 7: AUSTACK SUNSHINE COAST Class 3 Handicap 1000 metres
 
QUEEN SWEEPER – Slow to begin. Laid out rounding the home turn.
 
KAVAK – Apprentice Z. Lloyd was reprimanded pursuant to AR 131(b) for failing to ride his mount out to the line. Stewards were comfortably satisfied that Apprentice Lloyd’s actions had not cost KAVAK 5th place.

GDANSK – Raced wide throughout. Laid out rounding the home turn.
 
FUNNY MONEY - Raced wide throughout.
 
Race 8: MARTIN COLLINS AUSTRALIA OPEN Handicap 1000 metres
 
ZIPPING BOY – Bumped on jumping.
 
RATHER SALUBRIOUS (NZ) – Jumped awkwardly and lost ground.
 
CARDIFF – Jumped away extremely awkwardly and lost ground. Over-raced in the middle stages. Raced wide throughout. Rider S. Collett reported that after beginning awkwardly she was obliged to race wide. She further added the gelding raced keenly first up and would take benefit from the run. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow post-race recovery.
 
JE SUIS BELLE – shifted in on jumping and bumped ZIPPING BOY.
 
BOOMTOWN LASS – Crowded on jumping.
 
SNOWZONE – Held up for clear running approaching 200m.
 
BLACK MAGNUM – A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
FAIR FELLA – Declared a late scratching at 4:22pm on veterinary advice after being found to lame in the near foreleg. Trainer M. Kropp was advised a veterinary certificate shall be required prior to racing again.
 
Race 9: TAB LONG MAY WE PLAY Class 4 Plate 1400 metres
 
FAST TRAIN – Raced wide throughout.
 
ROYAL PERFORMANCE - Raced wide throughout.
 
GAVE US UP – Upon pulling up Rider B. Stewart dismounted in a distress state. Rider B. Stewart was fined pursuant to AR 211(1) $300 for returning to scale in excess of 0.5kg overweight. Furthermore B. Stewart was advised he would require a medical clearance prior to riding again.
 
GOLLY HUTT – Slow to begin.
 
LORD MARKEL (NZ) – Bumped on jumping. Lost ground on a number of occasions in the early stages. Stewards on the request of B. Stewart, rider of GAVE US UP,  adjourned an inquiry into this incident until Wednesday 9/03/22.
 
ELENARA - Was declared a late scratching at 5:55 pm on Veterinary advice after becoming extremely fractious upon arrival at the barriers. Upon the declaration of correct weight stewards ordered that all monies invested on ELENARA be refunded with the following deductions to apply-
 
1st 4c the win, 3c the place
2nd 10c the place
3rd 7c the place
 
ACHIEVE VICTORY - Slow to begin.
 
ZEELUCK – Jumped awkwardly and bumped LORD MARKEL. Over-raced in the early stages.
