QUEENSLANDRACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT SUNSHINE COAST TURF CLUB SUNSHINE COAST – SUNDAY 27TH MARCH 2022 WEATHER – Fine TRACK RATING – Soft 5 RAIL – 10m entire OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – J. Challen Starter – R. Hanson GENERALTrainer M. Dunn was fined $300 pursuant to LR 67 for failing to declare a rider for his runner engaged in Race 3 ROYAL ARCHER by the prescribed time. Stewards approved the following overweights:Race 5. J. Orman +0.5kg Race 1: PFD FOODSERVICES Maiden Handicap 1000 metres LUXOR PRINCE – Raced keenly in the middle stages. Momentarily held up for clear running in the early stages of the home straight. KING SHALAA – Steadied from the heels of SWISS ELEMENT approaching the 600m. Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages. Rider J. Orman advised Stewards that the gelding travelled well however when asked for an effort did not finish the race off as well as he had expected. SWISS ELEMENT – Raced wide throughout. TIP TOES – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination due to not starting in a race for an extended period and was cleared to start. Bumped approaching the 200m when WINNING DEAL laid out. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be exhibiting signs of the thumps and a poor recovery. WINNING DEAL – Jumped awkwardly and lost ground. ZAYDE – Slow to begin. Race 2: ACCESS INSULATION SUNSHINE COAST BENCHMARK 60Handicap 1800 metres TAKUNAI – Placed in restricted room approaching the 400m to the inside of KINKUNA, resulting in the gelding becoming unbalanced and having to be steadied. KINKUNA – Laid in under pressure approaching the 400m resulting in both TAKUNAI and BOOM RAIDER being placed in restricted room. BROCSON – Slow to begin. BELLICOSE – Raced wide until approaching the 1300m. RAINS APLENTY – Raced keenly in the early stages. BOOM RAIDER – Jumped away awkwardly almost dislodging rider L. Tarrant. Obliged to race in restricted approaching the 400m, resulting in the mare contacting the rail and becoming unbalanced. Approaching the 200m improved onto the heels of SO YOU’RE MAGIC and was obliged to alter course to secure clear running. Race 3: PABLO'S TEX MEX CALOUNDRA QTIS Three-Year-OldBENCHMARK 62 Handicap 1200 metres THE KEWESS – Jumped awkwardly and then bumped with SITUATION ROOM. Checked and blundered approaching the 1000m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. SCRIPT WRITER – Bumped at the start and lost ground. Checked approaching the 1000m when SITUATION ROOM was taken inwards by EXTREMIST which shifted in when not fully clear. Apprentice A. Jones, the rider of EXTREMIST, pled guilty to a charge of careless riding pursuant to AR 131(a) for allowing her mount to shift in when not fully clear of SITUATION ROOM which was taken inwards and tightened the racing room of SCRIPT WRITER which had to be checked by its rider. Apprentice A. Jones’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 12 days to commence midnight 03/04/2022 to midnight 15/04/2022. Apprentice Jones was advised of her right to Internal review. SITUATION ROOM – Bumped on jumping. Held up for clear running in the early stages of the home straight. BURNING BELL – Hampered on jumping between SITUATION ROOM and SCRIPT WRITER. Hung out over the concluding stages and was not able to be fully tested in the run to the finish. A warning was placed on the racing manners of the filly. ROYAL ARCHER – Jumped awkwardly. Approaching the 800m was bumped on the hindquarters by THE KEWESS and became unbalanced. Raced wide throughout. EXTREMIST – Jumped awkwardly and shifted out bumping MISS SEATTLE. MISS SEATTLE – Bumped on jumping. Inconvenienced near the 200m when SITUATION ROOM shifted out under pressure. MISHANI ESPRIT – Bumped on jumping. Raced wide throughout. MISHANI TULIP –Raced wide throughout. Laid out under pressure in the home straight. Race 4: PELICAN MOTORS SERVICE CENTRE RATINGS BAND 0 - 58Handicap 1000 metres MR VISTA - Raced wide throughout. BAT PAD - Raced wide throughout. SNEAKY THREE – Jumped awkwardly. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the filly to exhibiting signs of the thumps. DEVINE FACTOR – Slow to begin. MISTA BUSY – Raced wide throughout. PEACHIES DREAM – Slow to begin. Held up approaching the home turn. Race 5: ALFIES EVENT HIRE BENCHMARK 65 Handicap 1000 metres BROKEN HERO – Slow to begin. ALL STARS – Laid in for the majority of the home straight. ROSE OF SEBRING – Slow to begin. FASTLING – Raced wide throughout. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. FUNNY MONEY – Raced three wide in the early stages. MELISMA – Slow to begin. Race 6: H & H AIR CONDITIONING Class 1 Plate 1600 metres ALLUDERE – Checked at the start when HEEYA shifted out abruptly on jumping. KARAYER - Raced wide in the early stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be displaying signs of a cardiac issue. Trainer C. Munce was advised a veterinary certificate inclusive of an EGC report would be required prior the gelding being permitted to race again. NOBLE ARTIST – Over-raced in the middle stages. STOCKED AND LOADED (NZ) – Slow to begin. UNDER ORDERS – Improved onto the heels of HEEYA approaching the 1200m and shifted wider before being ridden forward to the position outside the leader approaching the 1000m. SUBAYAI – Shifted out under pressure approaching the 200m. HEEYA – Shifted out abruptly on jumping. Over-raced in the early and middle stages. Race 7: TAB LONG MAY WE PLAY BENCHMARK 65 Handicap1400 metres The start of this race was delayed as a result of a veterinary examination of TRI NATIONS after concerns were expressed by its rider with the action of the gelding. The gelding was subsequently cleared by the veterinary official however B. Thornton indicated that he was not comfortable with the horse’s action and Stewards subsequently declared TRI NATIONS a late scratching at 4:30pm with the following deductions to apply: 1st SAFEEYA - 9c Win/ 6c Place2nd BOUNTY HUNTER - 14c Place3rd BAMBALAM -14c Place Correct weight was delayed allowing rider S. Lacy, TICINO BELLE, to view the photo finish after the judge declared a dead heat for fourth place between EPICURIOUS and TICINO BELLE. After viewing the judge’s image, rider Lacy was satisfied with the judge’s decision and correct was declared on the numbers semaphored. EPICURIOUS – Slow to begin. BAMBALAM – Slow to begin. Improved onto heels approaching the 800m and shifted wider. KINGOFTHEHARBOUR – Raced wide throughout. Race 8: SKY RACING Class 5 Handicap 1300 metres GUNTANTES – Declared a Late scratching at 3:03 pm on veterinary advice. LA AMIGO – Slow to begin. WILMOT PASS – Bumped at the start. DARING BELLE – Inconvenienced and had to be steadied from heels approaching the 800m when KUDU was forced wider. Raced wide throughout. KUDU – Bumped and forced wider when FISH ON shifted out approaching the 800m. FISH ON – Approaching the 800m commenced to over-race when crossed by WHAM and then shifted out and bumped heavily with KUDU forcing that runner wider.
