Hanson GENERAL Trainer Lauren Abbott was fined $200 pursuant to LR 67 for failing to declare a rider for BEG ME engaged in Race 6 by the prescribed time. Race 1: POWERED BY LPE QTIS Three-Year-Old Class 3 Handicap 1000 metres THE RATTLESNAKE – Jumped awkwardly. Over-raced in the middle stages. KARAOKE QUEEN – Over-raced in the middle stages. Race 2: POWERED BY LPE QTIS Two-Year-Old Maiden Plate 1000 metres Prior to the running of this race the track was upgraded to a Good 4. IT'S HELLS BELLS – Commenced over-race approaching the 800m and had to be steadied off heels. STRONG LIKE BULL – Jumped awkwardly. Held up approaching the home turn. CLAIRVUE MOLLY – Laid in under pressure over the final 100m. Cast a near fore plate in running. MISHANI HOOD – Raced wide throughout. QUICKEN UP – Raced in restricted room approaching the 200m. SAWEETIE – Taken inwards over the final 60m by CLAIRVUE MOLLY which laid in under pressure. SIZZLING GAL – Fractious before the start. Jumped awkwardly and lost ground. Held up approaching the home turn and in the early stages of the home straight. Race 3: POWERED BY LPE QTIS Two-Year-Old Maiden Plate 1000 metres HEAT – Jumped awkwardly. DURUNDUR LAD – Jumped awkwardly. PEACHIES DREAM – Raced wide throughout. Race 4: POWERED BY LPE Class 2 Handicap 1200 metres LE HEROS – Raced keenly in the early stages. Cast a near hind plate approaching the 800m. CHILLIWACK – Jumped awkwardly. Raced wide throughout. PAPERCLIP – Began awkwardly. DRY TIMES – Laid in approaching the 1000m. When asked to comment on the performance of the gelding, jockey R. Maloney stated after securing favourable position in the run the gelding failed to run on as expected and was in his opinion disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed mild heat stress. SECRET TALES – Raced in restricted room approaching the 1000m and had to be steadied. GROOMED – Raced keenly in the early stages. BOLD AND LUCY – Jumped awkwardly and bumped with CORBIN and lost ground as a result. Held up in the early stages of the home straight before shifting back to the inside to secure clear running. When asked to comment on her riding in the early stages of the home straight Apprentice M. Philpot advised stewards that she was of the opinion that the ground in the middle of the home straight to be more favourable and upon entrance to the straight she attempted to secure a run to the outside of CORBIN however was disappointed for a run to the outside of that runner and as a result she was momentarily held up before shifting back to the inside to secure clear running where her mount finished the race off well. Upon review of the vision, Apprentice Philpot agreed with stewards that she would have been better served to have shifted to the inside of CORBIN upon entering the home straight instead of attempting to secure running to the outside of that runner.CORBIN - Jumped awkwardly and bumped with BOLD AND LUCY and lost ground as a result. Race 5: POWERED BY LPE Maiden Handicap 1600 metres The start of this race was delayed as a result of two runners requiring resaddling. KING'S COUNSEL (FR) – Slow to begin. Held up approaching the home turn. ULTIMATE PRIDE (NZ) - Held up approaching the home turn. BONLOE (NZ) – Connections advised that the filly would be ridden further back in the field if circumstances permitted. After beginning awkwardly, the filly commenced to race ungenerously when being restrained and proved difficult to settle. Raced wide throughout. When over-racing approaching the 600m shifted out. Connections were advised a warning would be placed on the racing manners of the filly. Held out approaching the turn. HANGIN' HIGH – Raced wide throughout. STRATEGIC SUCCESS – Jumped awkwardly. Steadied from heels approaching the 600m. ROMAN QUEEN - Raced wide in early stages before being permitted to stride forward to the position outside the leader approaching the 1200m. FORBIDDEN ONE (NZ) – Bumped on jumping. HOT SAUCE – When questioned regarding the tactics adopted in the early stages, Jockey M. Du Plessis advised stewards that he had anticipated settling further back in the field however with runners inside failing to muster speed and with the slow early tempo the filly settled in a more forward position than he had expected. SHONGALONGA – Bumped on jumping. Steadied approaching the 1300m when FORBIDDEN ONE (NZ) shifted in when not fully clear. Apprentice A. Jones was advised to exercise greater care when shifting ground in the future. SWEAR ON A PROMISE – Held up rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the home straight.ZOUESAY – Over-raced in the early stages. Raced wide throughout. Steadied rounding the home turn when ULTIMATE PRIDE(NZ) shifted out before being corrected by its rider. CLAIRVUE JET – Inconvenienced after the start. Laid in near the 200m. Cast an off fore plate during the event. A DEVIL'S CHANCE – Slow to begin. Raced wide from the 700m. Race 6: POWERED BY LPE RATINGS BAND 0 - 60 Handicap1600 metres BAMBALAM – Raced keenly in the middle stages. LESMURDIE - Jockey J. Grob was reprimanded pursuant to AR 132(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip 7 times before the 100m. DAYTONA DANICA – Held up in the early stages of the home straight. MORGAN'S SMILE – Raced keenly in the middle stages. BELLICOSE – Raced wide in early stages before being permitted to stride forward to the position outside the leader approaching the 1200m. NOBLE ARTIST – Slow into stride. Laid in throughout the event. Race 7: POWERED BY LPE Class 3 Handicap 1400 metres TICKLER – Jumped awkwardly and bumped WINSTON BLUE. Stewards questioned Jockey B. Thornton and trainer R. Tyrell regarding the tactics adopted in the early stages. Of concern to Stewards was after beginning well jockey Thornton restrained the gelding to a position with cover when there appeared an opportunity to either lead or race outside the leader. Trainer R. Tryell advised Stewards that gelding has a history of beginning only fairly and if the gelding was to begin well to ride the gelding with cover as TICKER finishes it races of best ridden in this fashion and he was not dissatisfied with the riding of B. Thornton in the early stages. Mr Tyrell further added that the gelding may not run out a strong 1400m. Jockey B. Thornton confirmed the instructions. A post-race veterinary examination revealed thumps and mild heat stress. A swab sample was collected for analysis. Stewards on review on the gelding’s racing pattern and the evidence provided by Mr Tyrell noted the explanation provided.WINSTON BLUE – Bumped on jumping. Gave ground in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. RIP CITY – Bumped at the start. Over-raced in the early stages. VLADKING – Jumped awkwardly. Raced wide throughout.
