QUEENSLANDRACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT SUNSHINE COAST – SUNDAY 17th APRIL 2022 WEATHER – Fine TRACK RATING – Soft 5 RAIL – 4 meters entire OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – J AdamsStewards – K Daly, P KennedyClerk of Scales – J RobinsonJudge – P ChiltonVeterinarian – Dr S McGinnisSwab Attendants – L ChaplinStarter – R Hanson SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT GENERAL As S Fawke and K Yoshida were both ill, riding changes were made as per the Race Day summary sheet. Stewards approved the following weight variations:Race 1: SHEZ ANUISANCE – L Miller 54.5kg (+0.5kg)Race 4: HYPERION ANGEL – L Miller 54.5kg (+0.5kg) Race 1: VILI'S FAMILY BAKERY Maiden Handicap 1000 metres DELUXE LEGEND – Raced five wide throughout. DRAGON CLAWS – Raced four wide throughout. When asked to comment on the performance rider R Wiggins could offer no explanation for the disappointing performance, adding that in his opinion the horse would derive benefit from the race experience. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.BEANHUGGED – Inclined to lay in during the early stages of the home straight. M Butler, rider of BEANHUGGED, was fined $200 under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for use of the whip on six occasions prior to the 100m, one more than permitted. EPAUVESCENT – Raced three wide throughout. Approaching the 300m laid in and became awkwardly placed at the heels of HOME OWNER. Rider C Meehan reported EPAUVESCENT was inclined to lay in throughout the event. BEACH LAP – On arrival at the barriers the earmuffs were re-fitted after it was established they had been placed over the bridle. Trainer D Joice was reprimanded under AR106 for the incorrect application of that piece of gear. HOME OWNER – Slow to begin. SHEZANUISANCE – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Race 2: TAB VENUE MODE COUNTRY HEIST BENCHMARK 70 Handicap 1400 metres KAPPY CINO – Raced three wide without cover for the majority of the event. SWAN ISLAND – Rider J Molloy reported the horse over-raced in the early stages and in his opinion failed to handle the step-up distance today. Trainer B Gorman reported it would be his intention to give SWAN ISLAND a short let up and going forward would drop the horse back in distance. WALSHIE – Shifted in and brushed the running rail near the 800m. When questioned regarding tactics today, specifically her decision to restrain in the middle stages, M Castle stated instructions were to be positive out of the barriers however after being pressured by runners to the outside she elected to restrain and obtain cover which resulted in WALSHIE racing in a midfield position on the rails. M Castle, rider of WALSHIE, was fined $300 under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for use of the whip on seven occasions prior to the 100m, two more than permitted. AVOCA – After complaining of soreness to his right foot post-race, rider M Hellyer was examined by the club doctor and cleared to fulfill his remaining engagements. SWEET VENOM – Rider H Richardson indicated it was not her intention to lead, however after being forced wider on the track approaching the 800m and with a lack of pace to the inside, she allowed SWEET VENOM to stride forward and lead the event. Ms Richardson added going forward it would be the intention of the stable to ride the horse in a similar manner. MODERN FAMILY – Slow to begin. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. MY GIRL SPIRIT – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Raced three wide with cover for the majority of the event. Race 3: NEIL MANSELL CONCRETE Class 4 Plate 1600 metres AIOLOS – Jumped out at the start and bumped FAST TRAIN. FAST TRAIN – Bumped at the start. RAINS APLENTY – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. MAHUSSEY – Bumped at the start. Over-raced in the middle stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed lameness in the near foreleg. Trainer T Pascoe was advised MAHUSSEY would require a veterinary clearance prior to its next race start. BELLICOSE – Jumped in at the start and bumped MAHUSSEY. Race 4: ADAMS & SPARKES TOWN PLANNING Maiden Handicap 1400 metres After breaking away from the handler in the tie-up stalls ROMAN QUEEN slipped over sustaining abrasions to the near side foreleg and nearside hock and was subsequently declared a late scratching at 2:02pm on veterinary advice. On declaration of correct weight Stewards ordered all bets on ROMAN QUEEN refunded in full and the following deductions to apply: 1st HELL OF A PRINCE -9c win, 7c place2nd SIZZLING DIAMOND – 10c place 3rd TYSON’s FURY – 9c place Trainer D Hansen was advised ROMAN QUEEN would require a veterinary clearance prior to its next race start. ROCK DREAMER NZ – Trainer J Smerdon was fined $100 under LR67 for the late declaration of rider on the gelding. Bumped heavily at the start. TYSON'S FURY – Slow to begin. TRIPLE CITIZEN – After improving onto heels near the 100m was obliged to wider on the track to obtain clear running. HELL OF A PRINCE – Raced three wide without cover for the majority of the event. Over-raced in the early stages of the event. SIZZLING DIAMOND – Disappointed for a run approaching the 300m before shifting out to obtain clear running. ANGELIC ARCHER – The tongue tie on the horse was reapplied on arrival behind the barriers. Held up for the majority of the home straight before obtaining clear running inside the final 100 meters. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. HYPERION ANGEL – Raced three wide with cover for the majority of the event. Race 5: SUNCOAST CABS Class 1 Handicap 1800 metres KOLLUR – Caught racing three wide in the early stages before progressing forward to race outside the leader from the 1300m. When asked to comment on the performance rider K Wison-Taylor stated the horse travelled well to the home turn however when placed under pressure soon after failed to respond to his riding and was disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow post-race recovery. Trainer D Vandyke advised Stewards KOLLUR would now be leaving his stable. LESMURDIE – Caught racing three wide in the early stages before progressing forward to lead the event from the 1000m. The licence of J Grob, rider of LESMURDIE, was suspended to ride in races for a period of 7 days under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for use of the whip on ten occasions prior to the 100m, 5 more than permitted to commence midnight 17th April up to and including midnight 24th April 2022. GO MILLO – Over-raced in the middle stages of the event. FRIEND OF GOD – Over-raced in the middle stages of the event. CONGENIAL MISTRESS – Declared a late scratching at 1:20pm after being treated by the on-course veterinary surgeon for a rash as the result of insect bites when being transported to the track. Race 6: TAB LONG MAY WE PLAY Class 2 Handicap 1300 metres BOLD PERFORMER NZ – Over-raced in the early stages of the event. MISTER LARRABEE – Slow to begin. Momentarily held up for clear running passing the 200m. SECRET TALES – Jumped out at the start and bumped SEA RIPPLE. VIENNA EMPRESS – Slow to begin. SEA RIPPLE – Bumped at the start by SECRET TALES. Over-raced in the early stages of the event. Race 7: SKY RACING Class 3 Plate 1000 metres REJINSKY – Slow to begin. STREAKA – Raced wide for the majority of the event. Bumped by ZINGALONG near the 800m which shifted in momentarily. ZINGALONG – Raced wide without cover throughout. QUEEN SWEEPER – Raced wide with cover throughout. RED RUBI – After beginning awkwardly was restrained shortly after the start from the wide barrier to a rearward position with cover. GLORIOUS RUBY – Cast off fore plate during the race. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Race 8: MARTIN COLLINS AUSTRALIA BENCHMARK 68 Handicap 1200 metres BATANGAS ENTRY – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the horse to have bled from both nostrils for the second time. As such BATANGAS ENTRY will incur a lifetime ban from racing under AR79(6). TICKLER – Held up for clear running in the early stages of the home straight. BLAZING MAC – When asked to comment on the performance rider R Fradd reported the horse travelled comfortably in the run and did not appreciate racing around other horses adding that BLAZING MAC is better suited in races where it is able to lead. ANGELS SHARE – From the wide barrier was restrained shortly after the start to a rearward position closer to the rails. REDSTONE – Raced three wide without cover for the majority of the event.
