QUEENSLANDRACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT SUNSHINE COAST TURF CLUB FRIDAY 17th JUNE 2022 WEATHER – Fine TRACK RATING – Good 4 RAIL – 9 meters entire OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – P ZimmermannStewards – J Adams, K Daly, G Goold, P Kennedy.Clerk of Scales – J Robinson.Judge – P Chilton.Veterinarian – Dr D LauSwab Attendants – A Challen, L ChaplinStarter – R Hanson. SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT{Delete if nothing to report GENERAL As L Tarrant was ill Stewards permitted riding changes as per the race Day summary sheet. L Tarrant was advised he will require a medical clearance prior to his next race or trial ride. Stewards approved the following wight variations:Race 2 – Michael Murphy - OCEANARIUM - 55kg (+1kg) Race 1: BDO QTIS Three-Year-Old Maiden Handicap 1600 metres EVERLAST – Raced wide in the early stages. Raced greenly under pressure over the final 100m. HONESTYANDLOYALTY – Slow to begin. After being held up for clear running rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the home straight was disappointed for a run between runners near the 200m before obtaining a clear running inside the 100m. CHAMPAGNE POP – Rounding the home turn steadied from the heels of COPPERCHINO when shifting out to improve. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. NEWMARKET MISS – From the wide barrier was restrained shortly after the start to a rearward position closer to the rails. Near the 1000m improved onto heels and momentarily shifted wider on the track. CALLYWAG – Began awkwardly. Improved onto heels approaching the 100m and went to the line without being fully tested by its rider. COPPERCHINO – Over-raced in the early stages. IRRESISTABULL – Began awkwardly. STAR CHANCE – Change of tactics, to be ridden more forward. Ridden accordingly. C Bayliss, rider of STAR CHANCE, was reprimanded under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for use of the whip on six occasions prior to the 100m, one more than permitted. TAKE ME ON – Raced three wide without cover throughout. Race 2: PIPPA COLMAN & ASSOCIATES Maiden Handicap 2200 metres RIVER PARK – Slow to begin. BUDDY FAST – As had not started for an extended period, underwent a pre-race veterinary examination, and was cleared to start. Raced keenly in the early stages. BIG HITTER – Held up between for clear running between the 700m and 600m. Near the 300m shifted out to improve and bumped the weakening COMETTI. BURN THE BOATS – Over-raced in the early stages. Approaching the 1800m steadied from the heels of COMETTI, which shifted in when not fully clear. K Wilson-Taylor, rider of COMETTI, was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances. Left a midfield trailing position near the 1500m and progressed forward to lead the event from 1300m. OCEANARIUM – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Raced wide from the 1100m. Bumped near the 300m. ROWLETT – M Wishart, rider of ROWLETT, was reprimanded under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for use of the whip on seven occasions prior to the 100m, 2 more than permitted. COMETTI - Bumped near the 300m when tiring. Race 3: SV PARTNERS BENCHMARK 62 Handicap 2200 metres CONTRITION (NZ) – Jumped out at the start. Bumped near the 350m when TARBENA shifted out. TARBENA – Crowded on jumping, clipped heels and blundered losing ground. Over-raced for the majority of the event. Shifted out near the 350m and bumped CONTRITION. THAT'LLDOTOO – Tightened for racing room and checked near the 250m between CARLOS, which shifted out when tiring, and STOCKED AND LOADED, which shifted in when struck with the whip before being corrected by its rider. Both A Jones, rider of STOCKED AND LOADED, and A Spinks, rider of CARLOS, were advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances. D'CLONE – On jumping bumped on the hindquarters and lost ground. Forced three wide from 1400m when CONTRITION shifted away from the rails. S Tomlinson, rider of D’CLONE, was reprimanded under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for use of the whip on six occasions prior to the 100m, 1 more than permitted. Race 4: OZLAND GROUP SOLUTIONS Maiden Handicap 1400 metres MASAWU was declared a late scratching at 4:46pm after the horse was fractious in the enclosure and was unable to be ridden to the barriers. On declaration of correct weight Stewards ordered all bets on MASAWU refunded in full and the following deductions to apply prior to 4.46pm on all bets: 1st LOVIN’ DE QUO – 0c win, 2c place2nd EASIER SAID – 2c place3rd AHIKA – 1c place Trainer J Durston was advised MASUWA must trial satisfactorily prior to its next race start. WRITTEN WITH BLOOD – Checked at the start between LOVIN’ DE QUO which jumped out and JANE HIS WIFE which jumped in. CALIFORNIA ZIM ZIM – Checked leaving the 450m. G Cartwright, rider of EASIER SAID, was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under AR131(a) in that approaching the 450m she permitted her mount to shift out resulting in CALIFORNIA ZIM ZIM being checked and tightened onto the hindquarters of FLYING ROTHE which became unbalanced. The licence of G Cartwright to ride in races was suspended for a period of 10 days to commence midnight 26th June up to and including midnight 6th July 2022. FLYING ROTHE – Slow to begin. JANE HIS WIFE – Jumped in at the start. EASIER SAID – Began awkwardly. LOVIN' DE QUO – Jumped out at the start. When asked to comment on the apparent improved performance trainer D Ward explained LOVIN’ DE QUO had trialled well at Doomben recently following a disappointing performance at its most recent start at Beaudesert on 25th April. He added the horse has had a history of hoof issues which have now been addressed following the removal of hoof pads and the addition of hoof filler. Stewards noted the explanation of Mr Ward. AHIKA – Rider M Du Plessis reported the horse laid out for the majority of the event and as a result proved difficult to ride out in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination of AHIKA revealed a slow post-race recovery. Trainer S Dwyer was advised a warning would be placed on the racing manners of AHIKA. Race 5: TREZETTO Class 2 Plate 1200 metres HARD REYVA – Slow to begin. Crowded near the 200m when racing in restricted room to the inside of SOUL SPIRIT which shifted in. IRING – Change of tactics, to be ridden with cover and come with one run. Ridden accordingly. BEYOND FATE – Slow to begin. Raced wide for the majority of the event. SOUL SPIRIT – Laid in under pressure near the 200m crowding HARD REVYA. DELYTH – Over-raced in the middle stages. VITAE – After becoming fractious in the barriers, was removed, underwent a veterinary examination and was cleared to start. Slow to begin. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a respiratory condition. Co-trainer M Hoysted was advised VITAE would require a veterinary clearance, including satisfactory results of an endoscopic examination prior to its next race start. KEETA – Lost near fore plate in running. Race 6: Jai Xander & Lexon Insurance Class 3 Handicap 1000 metres The start of this event was delayed approximately 3 minutes to allow a gear adjustment on Combat Kid. PERSEIDS – Slow to begin. Raced wide for the majority of the event. ARCHERY BUTTS – Raced wide for the majority of the event. Laid in near the 600m and crowded SISTA ELENORE and SNEAKY STARTER. Laid in near the 100m and had to be steadied. COMBAT KID – Trainer T Miller was reprimanded under AR106(2) for the incorrect application of gear on the horse. LAST CHANCE DANCE – Rider M Du Plessis reported the horse felt awkward in its action on pulling up. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. PHANTOM SPIRIT – Began awkwardly. RELIABLE RUBY – Jumped out at the start resulting in its rider becoming unbalanced. Race 7: FC LAWYERS Class 6 Handicap 1400 metres The start of this event was delayed approximately 3 minutes to allow gear adjustments on PUNTARA in the tie up stalls. FOREIGN TERRITORY – Began awkwardly. Raced keenly in the middle stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed an abnormal respiratory noise. Trainer N McCall was advised the horse would require a veterinary clearance, including satisfactory results of an endoscopic examination prior to its next race start. PUNTURA – Began moderately. CHECKERS – Rider B Thompson reported the horse felt flat in the run. Trainer s Kendrick indicated he would now consider sending CHECKERS for a spell. DUNE FORTY FIVE – Began awkwardly. SPIRIT ESPRIT – Slow to begin. COSMIC GOSSIP – Brushed the running rail near the 800m. DARING BELLE – Raced wide for the majority of the event. RIVER ROCKET – Slow to begin. Raced in restricted room near the 800m and had to be steadied.
