SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT
 
 
GENERAL
 
Stewards approved the following Jockeys to ride overweight.
 
Race 4 – Jag Guthmann-Chester (Ma Ma’s Rose) plus 1/2kg at 56.5kg.
Race 6 – Mel Cox (Roman Reign) plus 1kg at 55kg.
Race 7 – Michael Cahill (Phantom Spirit) plus 1kg at 56kg.
Race 9 – Morgan Butler (Federal Agent) plus 1kg at 55kg.
 
As Tegan Harrison was not riding at the meeting changes are as per the rider summary.
 
 
Race 1: SHERRIFF ELECTRICAL MAROOCHYDORE Maiden Handicap 2200 metres
 
Port Mourant – Raced in restricted room to the inside of SCARRED FOR LIFE between the 1800m and 1500m and as a result had to be restrained. Jockey M Du Plessis was reprimanded pursuant to AR132 (7)(a)(ii) for using his whip on seven occasions, 2 more than permitted.
 
Devine Falls – Over raced in the middle stages.
 
Rowlett – Underwent a pre-race veterinary inspection at the request of its trainer on arrival on course and was cleared to start.
 
Scarred for Life – Raced ungenerously, shifting in on several occasions between the 1800m and 1500m.
 
Vancity – Slow to begin. Rider elected to allow his mount to stride forward leaving the 800m. Laid in under pressure in the straight.
 
Zoff The Boss – Began awkwardly.
 
Race 2: SIMON GEORGE & SONS QTIS Two-Year-Old Maiden Plate 1200 metres
 
Big Sky Country –Rider reported the colt laid out throughout and more so when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
Sir Leonidas – Fractious in the barriers. Over raced in the early and middle stages. Laid in under pressure in the early part of the straight
 
The Veresdale – Over raced. Raced three wide throughout.
 
 
 
Race 3: KLEEN PLUMBING Maiden Handicap 1300 metre
Prior to the running of this event the track was upgraded to a Heavy 8.
 
The start of this Race was delayed approximately 9 minutes when PLAYING HOOKIE required farrier attention behind the barriers.
 
Tonka Wakan – Raced in restricted room near the 600m when VIRGO VISION rolled in slightly.
 
Virgo Vision – Laid in slightly near the 600.
 
Giselle's Gamble – Slow to begin. Raced ungenerously with its head in the air in the early stages and became unbalanced when steadied from heels near the 800m.
 
Frida's Time – Began awkwardly. Steadied from heels leaving the 600m.
 
Champion Parade – Slow to begin. Raced wide. Weakened over the concluding stages and finished a distant last. Post-race veterinary examination determined that the filly was exhibiting clinical sighs of the “thumps”.
 
Playing Hookie – Required farrier attention after dislodging its near fore plate enroute to the barriers. When this shoe was unable to refitted, the other front plate was removed and was permitted to race barefoot in front.
 
Zayde – Slow to begin. Over raced early. Steadied from heels near the 800m.
 
Brazen Breccia – Began awkwardly.
 
 
 
Race 4: TROWEL KING PLASTERING QTIS Three-Year-Old BENCHMARK 62 Handicap 1600 metres
 
Choir Boy – Jockey M Cahill was fined $200 pursuant to AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip 8 times prior to the 100m, 2 more than permitted.
 
Top Boy – Bumped on jumping. Near the 500m bumped on the hind quarters and became unbalanced when PRINCESSSALLY shifted out. App Y Lewis was reprimanded pursuant to AR132 (7)(a)(ii) for using his whip on six occasions, one more than permitted.
 
Master Marko (NZ) – Bumped with Ma Ma's Rose when attempting to shift wider approaching the 800m.
 
Birague – Began awkwardly. Stewards questioned trainer Mr P Butterworth regarding the tactics adopted by App M Wishart. Mr Butterworth explained that the gelding has a tendency to over race, and whilst it is always the intention to race in a forward position,at its most recent starts, despite attempting to race forward the gelding has not been able to muster sufficient early speed after beginning awkwardly and has been crossed by other runners resulting in it settling further back in the field than preferred. Stewards noted his comments and reminded Mr Butterworth to advise Stewards of any intent to vary tactics.
 
Ma Ma's Rose – Bumped and became unbalanced approaching the 800m.
 
Late Night Devil – Began awkwardly.
 
Princess Sally – Began awkwardly. Over raced in the early and middle stages.
 
Race 5: COTTON TREE MEATS STEAKS QTIS Three-Years-Old Maiden Plate 1600 metres
 
Bold Enforcer – Cast the off fore plate in running.
 
Flying Rothe – Stewards questioned Jockey J Orman regarding the tactics adopted. Jockey Orman stated that his instructions were to settle in a midfield position however from a wide barrier, it became apparent during the early stages that he would be caught wide and he elected to allow his mount to stride forward and assume the lead. Jockey Orman also added that when leading the gelding over raced. Stewards noted his comments.
 
Moonlight Cowboy – Raced wide throughout and weakened from the 600m. Post-race veterinary examination determined that the gelding had a poor post-race recovery.
 
Red Jasper – On arrival to the barriers and at the request of its rider the gelding underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was found to be lame in its off hind and was subsequently declared a late scratching at 2.30pm with the following deductions to apply. Trainer M Reynolds was advised that the gelding would require a veterinary clearance prior to competing again.
 
1st Flying Rothie – 1 cent win and 2 cents place.
2nd Jane his Wife – 2 cents place.
3rd Written With Blood – 2 cents place.
 
 
Written With Blood – Slow to begin. Post-race veterinary examination determined that the gelding had bled from both nostrils. Trainers’ representative for the C Munce stable was advised it would be stood down from competition for 3 months and would be required to gallop 1000m in the presence of a Steward prior to resuming.
 
 
Race 6: JTC CONSULTING ENGINEERS RATINGS BAND 0 - 58 Handicap 1000 metres
 
The start of this Race was delayed approximately 3 minutes when WINE NOT ROSES required farrier attention behind the barriers.
 
King Ragnar – Slow to begin.
 
Peachies Dream – Shifted in near the 150m.
 
Wine Not Roses – Cast the near fore plate enroute to the start which was reaffixed behind the barriers. Obliged to steady near the 150m when PEACHIES DREAM shifted when not sufficiently clear. App K Wilson-Taylor was reprimanded for careless riding pursuant to AR131(a) regarding this incident.
 
Roman Reign – raced wide.
 
Sasanquas – Fractious in barriers. Reared as the start was effected and lost significant ground.
 
Sundus – Raced wide. Post-race veterinary examination determined that the mare had bled from both nostrils and clinical signs of cardiac arrythmia (Vet certificate to include results of ECG). Trainer J Holcombe was advised that the mare would be stood down from competition for 3 months and would be required to gallop 1000m in the presence of a Steward prior to resuming. Mr Holcombe also advised that it was his likely intention to require the mare.
 
 
 
 
Race 7: ACCURATE PEST MANAGEMENT Class 4 Handicap 1000 metres
 
 
Nicci Trix – On arrival to the barriers and at the request of its rider the mare underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and cleared to start. Bumped on jumping.
 
Blue Kentucky Moon – Began awkwardly. Held up for clear running rounding the home turn and in the early part of the straight.
 
Phantom Spirit – Fractious in the barriers. Reared as the start was effected.
 
Knockknee - Held up for clear running rounding the home turn and in the early part of the straight.
 
Mornay – Raced wide before finishing a distant last. App W Peel reported that the mare was making an abnormal respiratory noise.
 
 
Race 8: BOQ BUDERIM & CALOUNDRA Class 1 Plate 1600 metres
 
A Big Chance – Jockey M Butler was reprimanded pursuant to AR132 (7)(a)(ii) for using his whip on 6 occasions, 1 more than permitted.
 
Agent Of Mayhem – Hung in throughout and proved difficult to ride. Trainer G Doughty was advised that a warning would be placed on the gelding.
 
Alludere – Very slow to begin and lost ground. Improved onto heels approaching the home turn and steadied.
 
Earn Out – Inconvenienced near the 400m.
 
Hypertension – Near the 450m obliged to steady from heels and shift inwards.
 
Kenny Boy –Weakened from the 600m and when approaching the 450m was placed in restricted room and obliged to steady. Post-race veterinary examination found the horse to have suffered from Cardiac Arrythmia. Trainer R Tyrell was advised that he must provide a vet certificate with the results of an ECG and the horse must officially trial prior to racing again.
 
Dotned – Began awkwardly.
 
Noble Cat – On leaving the enclosure made minor contact a with a section of fencing and underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start.
 
Race 9: ASSET ELECTRICAL Class 3 Handicap 1300 metres
 
Collay's Spirit (NZ) – Held up rounding the home turn and until approaching the 250m.
 
Ourconi – Steadied from heels near the 850m. Held up rounding the home turn and in the early part of the straight.
 
Hot Escort – Raced wide.
 
Outback Gladiator – Shifted out and bumped with SWEET SIXTEEN.
 
Sweet Sixteen – Slow to begin. Heavily bumped near the 300 when OUTBACK GLADIATOR shifted out abruptly when not sufficiently. Jockey B Thompson was reprimanded for careless riding pursuant to AR131(a) for this incident.
 
Gentle Prince – Raced wide for the majority.
