GENERAL
 
Stewards allowed the following overweights:
Race 1. Ryan Maloney + 1kg
 
Race 1: JUSTIN & NICOLA VOSS BLUE MOON PROPERTY Maiden Handicap1600 metres
 
KATDEEL – Rider reported the horse had a tendency to hang out during the event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a minor laceration to the near fore fetlock. Trainer B. Laming advised that he would have his stable veterinarian examine the horse in the coming days and would report any findings to stewards.
 
THE BIG STAR – Over-raced in the middle stages. Rider reported the horse had a tendency to hang out during the event.
 
YANGARI – Raced three wide with cover.
 
BOLD ENFORCER – Momentarily held up rounding the home turn.
 
BONLOE (NZ) – Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Held up rounding the home turn until leaving the 300m.

CRAIGLEA ETNA – Stewards permitted apprentice J. Williams to claim only 1kg of his 3kg claim. Apprentice Williams was reprimanded under AR 143(14)(a). Raced three wide throughout.
 
STEALTH FLYER – Raced three wide in the early stages until being ridden forward to the lead at the 1000m.
 
 
Race 2: STEVE VENN BLUE MOON PROPERTY Maiden Plate1000 metres
 
BALDASSARE – Jumped awkwardly. Laid out under pressure in the home straight.
 
DOCTOR JACK – Raced three wide before being forced wider at the 600m. Laid in under over the concluding stages.
 
EMPEROR TEIO – Jumped awkwardly and was then checked and lost ground when tightened between SWISS ELEMENT and NO LOVE LOST which both shifted ground on jumping.
 
GOLD SAMURAI -Steadied from heels at the 700m.
 
NO LOVE LOST – Shifted in on jumping and bumped EMPEROR TEIO. Commenced to over-race approaching the 700m and shifted wider and continued to shift wider until leaving the 600m.
 
SLICK SHOOTER – Laid in whilst weaking over the concluding stages.
 
SWISS ELEMENT - Shifted in on jumping and bumped EMPEROR TEIO. Disappointed for a run approaching the 200m and had to be steadied.
 
DRAMMATICA – Jumped awkwardly.
 
MISS TAPESTRY - Jumped awkwardly.
 
ZOUVALU- Jumped awkwardly.
 
 
Race 3: STEVE VENN BLUE MOON PROPERTY QTIS Three-Year-Old Fillies Maiden Plate1000 metres
 
GODDESS OF PEACE – Jumped awkwardly. Raced keenly in the early stages. Had difficulty securing clear running in the early stages of the home straight.
 
MISHANI MAGIC – Underwent a veterinary examination upon arrival at the barriers after working keenly during its preliminary and was passed fit to start. Raced three wide without cover throughout. Rider reported the filly felt awkward in its front limb action. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the filly to be lame in its near foreleg. Trainer L. Ross was advised a veterinary clearance would be required prior to being permitted to race again.
 
NAUGHTY NINJA – Raced wide throughout. Laid in approaching 700m.
 
PACIFIC PIRATE – Jumped awkwardly. Raced greenly in the early stages.
 
ROAR HIDE – Jumped awkwardly. Raced in restricted room approaching the 700m.
 
WICKED CHANCE – Raced keenly in the early stages.
 
 
Race 4: STEVE VENN BLUE MOON PROPERTY QTIS Three-Year-Old Colts and
Geldings M1000 metres
 
FIT AND PROPER – Jumped awkwardly. Hampered shortly after the start and was steadied.
 
FLYING RUPERT – Fractious before the start.
 
HAPPY POPPY– Slow to begin.
 
HELL APPROACHING – Hampered on jumping.
 
HOBSY – Shifted in on jumping. Raced keenly in the early stages.
 
KERNEL BOOM – Slow to begin. Shifted out after jumping. Rider dropped his whip at the 100m.
 
PAIENBARA – Slow to begin.
 
SHERIFF OF LONDON – Tightened for room shortly after the start when BETTER THAN ELVIS shifted in. Apprentice Kyle Wilson-Taylor, the rider of BETTER THAN ELVIS, was reprimanded pursuant to AR 131(a) for this incident. Raced wide throughout.
 
 
Race 5: STEVE VENN BLUE MOON PROPERTY Class 5 Handicap1200 metres
 
The start of this event was slightly delayed owing to an interstate event running late.
 
KALIK – Raced three wide without cover throughout.
 
FUJI FLYER – Jumped awkwardly.
 
ABDICATING – Jumped awkwardly.
 
WHY WE DRINK – Underwent a veterinary examination upon arrival at the barriers due to blood being present in its mouth and was cleared to start.
 
COLLAY'S SPIRIT (NZ) – Slow to begin. Rider reported that in his opinion the gelding would be suited in races of a longer distance than that of today’s event.
 
SUILVEN – Hung in approaching the 600m.
 
THE DROVER – Raced keenly in the early stages.
 
 
Race 6: STEVE VENN BLUE MOON PROPERTY BENCHMARK 58 Handicap1000 metres
 
FUNNY MONEY – Jumped awkwardly. Bumped shortly after the start.
 
HOROWITZ – Raced in restricted room at the 700m and had to be steadied.
 
PEACHIES DREAM – Shifted out on jumping and bumped ZOU ZOUAMORE. Jockey M. Murphy pled guilty to a charge pursuant to AR 132(5) for using his whip in an excessive manner, 19 times in total and had his licence to ride in races suspended for a period of 8 days to commence midnight 04/09/22 to midnight 12/09/22.
 
SCREAM QUEEN – Rider reported the horse was inclined to hang out during the event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
ZOU ZOUAMORE – Bumped at start and lost ground. Raced wide throughout.
 
STARBOOK – Slow to begin. Raced in restricted room at the 700m and had to be steadied. When questioned regarding his riding and performance of the mare, rider S. Cormack advised that the mare failed to show its usual early speed, failed to travel in the early stages and he felt there may have been something amiss with the horse and for this reason he did not fully test the mare over the concluding stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer A. Chau was advised that STARBOOK would be required to trial to the satisfaction of the stewards prior to racing again.
 
 
 
Race 7: MACKDAWG VOSS BLUE MOON PROPERTY Class 1 Plate1600 metres
 
The start of this event was slightly delayed owing to LION’S TOOTH requiring farrier attention upon arrival at the barriers.
 
APATAKI (NZ) – Raced three wide throughout.
 
CALCAREOUS – Raced three wide until the 800m.
 
CELTIC HARP – Raced keenly in the early stages. When question regarding the tactics adopted, rider K. Wilson-Taylor explained it had been his intention to ride in a forward position with cover, however approaching the 1300m his mount commenced to race keenly and he was unable to secure cover and leaving the 1200m he elected to allow the horse to stride forward to the lead rather than fight the gelding. He added that the horse’s racing manners had a detrimental effect of the overall performance of the gelding.
 
LION'S TOOTH – Slow to begin. Raced keenly in the early stages.
 
PATMOS ISLAND – Bumped at the start. Held up rounding the home turn. Inconvenienced approaching the 100m.
 
SHOPPING WISE - Jumped awkwardly then shifted in and clipped heels.
 
VANDINI – Jumped awkwardly.
 
DOTNED – Jumped awkwardly and was then hampered between runners and lost ground. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
ATLANTIC ROYAL – Raced three wide until approaching 1100m.
 
 
 
 
Race 8: ANT'S 50TH WITH WHANAU BENCHMARK 62 Handicap1200 metres
 
PAPERCLIP – After laying in approaching the 400m was corrected by its rider and shifted out contacting AIRSTRIKE and then bumped with AIRSTRIKE for some distance until the 300.

STARZAM – Slow to begin. Held up rounding the home turn. Disappointed for clear running approaching the 200m.
 
AIRSTRIKE – Raced in restricted room and buffeted between runners from the 400m until the 300m and had to be checked.
 
BIXILON – Raced wide throughout. Approaching the 500m was bumped by TABULAM and became awkward and had to be steadied.

TABULAM – Approaching the home turn shifted out after being brushed by STARZAM resulting in the gelding becoming awkward and bumping with BIXILON and had to be steadied.
 
YOU'LL BE MIST – Jumped awkwardly.
 
KOKOPO KITTY – Bumped at the start. Raced wide throughout. Bumped on the hindquarters near the 400m and bumped with AIRSTRIKE until the 300m.
 
MADAME MO – Slow to begin.
 
ORPHAN'S TRUST – Steadied from heels approaching the 800m when racing keen. Raced greenly over the concluding stages.
 
SABALENKA (NZ) – Jumped awkwardly and was hampered shortly after and lost ground. Raced keenly at heels leaving the 800m. Held up from the 600m until entering the home straight.
 
FAATINAAT – Jumped awkwardly.
 
FEDERAL AGENT – Raced wide throughout.
