GENERAL
As rider Josh Adams was injured, Stewards permitted rider replacements as per the race day summary.
 
Stewards approved the following overweight allowances at today’s meeting-

Race 3: M. Cahill + 0.5kg
Race 4: B. Loy + 0.5kg
Race 5: B. Loy + 0.5kg
 
Race 1: MURRAY DAVIES FATHER'S DAY QTIS Three-Year-Old BENCHMARK 62 Handicap 1200 metres
 
WHISKY TRAIN (NZ) – Raced greenly under pressure in the home straight.
 
Following the running of this event the track was upgraded to a soft 7.
 
 
Race 2: MARTIN COLLINS AUSTRALIA BENCHMARK 68 Handicap 1600 metres
 
CROCKETT - Bump at the start. Raced three wide throughout.
 
ALDERMAN – Rider dropped his whip approaching the 50m.
 
BRAZEN BRECCIA – Jumped awkwardly and shifted out and bumped CROCKETT. Raced three wide in the early stages before working to the position outside the leader at the 1100m. Taken wider rounding the home turn by ALDERMAN.
 
CARNEROS - Taken wider rounding the home turn by ALDERMAN.
 
 
Race 3: BARRIER REEF POOLS Class 2 Handicap 1000 metres
 
QUACKERY – Jumped awkwardly. Over-raced in the early stages. Held up approaching the home turn when awkwardly placed at heels.
 
KAT CHINNA – Jumped awkwardly. Cast its near hind plate at the 600m.
 
SHOCK AND AWE – Held up rounding the home turn.
 
SQUIRREL HUNTER (NZ) – When asked to comment on the performance apprentice J. Cornish stated the gelding raced flat and was disappointing. Trainer P. Jenkins advised stewards that gelding would be sent for a spell.
 
KAYLEEN – Raced three wide throughout.
 
GRANDEUR ROSE – Hung out approaching and rounding the home turn.
 
 
Race 4: WIMMERS PREMIUM SOFT DRINKS Fillies and Mares Maiden Plate 1200 metres
 
The start of this event was slightly delayed as a result of HOT SAUCE proving difficult to load.
 
ALITTLETIFF – Jumped awkwardly. Raced keenly in the early stages. Raced three wide throughout.
 
AURORA DANCER (NZ) – Bumped at the start.
 
CHARLATAN (NZ) – A post-race veterinary examination revealed an abnormal respiratory noise. Underwent an endoscopic examination which revealed an entrapped epiglottis. Trainer Boyd was advised a veterinary clearance would be required prior to the mare completing a trial to the satisfaction of stewards prior to being permitted to race again.
 
HARMONY REIGNS (NZ) - Hampered after the start and lost ground.
 
HOT SAUCE – Proved difficult to load. Held up rounding the home turn. Had difficulty obtaining clear running from the 250m until leaving the 200m.
 
OUTA TAORMINA – Checked shortly after the start when tightened for room.
 
SURREEL – Raced three wide until the 600m.
 
BRYDELICIOUS – Hampered after the start and lost ground.
 
RAZAMAGAZZ – Raced wide throughout.
 
VERY INTOXICATING – Jumped outwards at the start. Held up rounding the home turn.
 
 
 
 
Race 5: TAB Colts, Geldings and Entires Maiden Plate 1200 metres
 
IRONSIDE – Jumped awkwardly and shifted inwards. Raced keenly approaching the 800m.
 
MARMION – When the pace slackened approaching the 800m improved onto heels, shifted out and raced three wide from that point onwards.
 
ST WOLFGANG – Jumped awkwardly.
 
VIRGO VISION - When the pace slackened approaching the 800m improved onto heels and had to be steadied.
 
PLUNDERING – Inconvenienced at the 800m. Raced wide without cover throughout. Raced greenly in the home straight.
 
ULTIMATE OUTCOME – Bumped at the start.
 
 
 
Race 6: LIEBKE BUILDERS Class 4 Handicap 1800 metres
 
POPULIST – Over-raced in the early stages.
 
DR VELOCIOUS (NZ) – Inconvenienced at the 800m.
 
JAKKALBERRY FINN (NZ) – Held up rounding the home turn.
 
DARING MAN - Slow to begin. Shifted out to improve at the 800m and raced wide from that point onwards.
 
OUR SPIDER – Forced wider at the 800m.
 
HYPERTENSION – Jumped awkwardly.
 
SHINAR – Slow to begin.
 
Race 7: DOUBLE R GROUP Class 1 Plate 1200 metres
 
BORN A WARRIOR – Held up rounding the home turn.
 
TAORMINA RHYTHM – Raced three wide without cover throughout.
 
ZEPHYR CRUISER – Fractious before the start. Weakened in the home straight. Rider reported he had concerns with the horse over the concluding stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer D. Newham advised stewards that she intended to spell the gelding and would informed stewards if any condition were to come to light in the following days that may have had a bearing on the horse’s performance. Stewards advised her that ZEPHYR CRUISER would be required to trial to the satisfaction of stewards prior to racing again.
 
BEAN A WHILE - Jumped awkwardly. Raced greenly in the home straight.
 
CAPITAL MISS - Jumped awkwardly. Rider reported that the mare was showing signs of being in season which had a bearing on the performance of the mare. A post-race veterinary examination confirmed that the mare was in season.
 
 
 
Race 8: BUTLER MCDERMOTT LAWYERS BENCHMARK 62 Handicap 00 metres
 
TIERRA DEL FUEGO – Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages.
 
BETTER LAD – Raced three wide without cover throughout.
 
I AM A HIT – Jumped awkwardly and lost ground. Blundered approaching the 550m. momentarily steadied approaching the 250m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the near hind leg. Trainer R. Beaton was advised a veterinary clearance would be required prior to the gelding being permitted to start in a trial or race again.
 
RICHUNCLEMONEYBAGS – Over-raced in the early stages when being restrained to a position with cover. Continued to race keenly approaching the 700m and shifted wider.
