Race 1: ARCHERS THE STRATA PROFESSIONALS Class 4 Handicap
1400 metres

THE TYLER – Slow to begin.


Race 2: HIGGINS COATINGS BENCHMARK 62 Handicap 1800 metres

MEATBALL – Fractious leaving the enclosure resulting in rider J Molloy being harmlessly dislodged. Underwent a veterinary examination on arrival at the barriers and was cleared to start. Rider J Molloy was examined by QAS staff and cleared to fulfill his engagement. Slow to begin. Over-raced for a short distance near the 1300m. Put in an awkward stride near the 600m.

PAINTED BLACK – Approaching the 1300m momentarily crowded when awkwardly placed at the heels of SIMON SAYS which laid in before being corrected by its rider. Raced wide in the early stages of the event.

SPURIOUS – W Peel, rider of SPURIOUS, was reprimanded under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for use of the whip on 7 occasions prior to the 100m, 2 more than permitted.

MT MORT SHARK – Slow to begin. When the pace eased near the 1300m was obliged to steady from heels.

RENAULT – Steadied from the heels of PAINTED BLACK near the 1300m. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Rider B Thompson reported the horse travelled comfortably in the run however was disappointing when placed under pressure in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

ANACHEEVA LAD – When the pace eased near the 1300m was obliged to steady from heels.

SIMON SAYS – Laid in approaching the 1300m. Raced wide in the early stages of the event.


Race 3: BOSS BUILDING MAINTENANCE BENCHMARK 65 Handicap
1000 metres

NEW ALLIANCE – Bumped at the start. Raced wide throughout the event.

LE HEROS – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Held up for clear running rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the home straight.

SHINSHINTO – Jumped out at the start and bumped NEW ALLIANCE. Over-raced in the middle stages of the event. Held up for clear running from the 400m until leaving the 200m.

EXALTED CROWN – Began awkwardly.

FUNNY MONEY – Held up for clear running from the 400m until leaving the 300m.

SAM’S A NATURAL – Declared a late scratching for acceptable reasons by order of Steward at 10:20am.

YOURJOKINGME RIGHT – Raced wide throughout the event.

YOU'LL BE MIST – Laid out rounding the home turn.



Race 4: MARSH ADVANTAGE INSURANCE RATINGS BAND 0 - 58
Handicap 1000 metres

EXLOVER – After being slow to begin was crowded for room a short distance later between TALLAHASSEE LASSIE which jumped out and MISHKA MAGIC which jumped in.

LEGEND I AM – Rider T Brooker dropped her whip near the 300m.

DEEP STATE – Rider M Butler reported his intention was not to lead and expected to settle in a midfield position however after beginning well and with no speed shown from runners drawn to the outside, he permitted DEEP STATE to stride forward and lead the event. Lost off hind plate in running

RALPHIE – Rider Sean Cormack advised stewards that he elected to shift wider rounding the home turn as the gelding was travelling strongly at that point of the race and was conscious of allowing the horse to maintain momentum rather than risk being held up entering the home straight.

DIAMOND LASS – Raced wide for the majority of the event.

TAORMINA RHYTHM – Raced wide for the majority of the event.

TALLAHASSEE LASSIE – Jumped out at the start.

MISHKA MAGIC – Jumped out at the start. Laid out in the early stages of the event and as a consequence near the 700m momentarily shifted in and bumped TALLAHASSEE LASSIE. Raced three wide throughout the event.

IMPLACABLE – Raced wide for the majority of the event.



Race 5: GRACE LAWYERS Class 1 Handicap 1600 metres

SAVILEO – Began awkwardly. Raced wide for the majority of the event. When asked to comment on tactics adopted trainer J Bruce advised SAVILEO was having its first start for the stable and instructions from the wide draw were to ride the horse conservatively in the early stages with cover if possible. B Thompson, rider of SAVILEO, was reprimanded under AR132(7)(a)(i) for use of the whip on two consecutive occasions prior to the 100m.

ABSOLUTE CHARMER – R Maloney, rider of ABSOLUTE CHARMER was reprimanded under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for use of the whip on 7 occasions prior to the 100m, 2 more than permitted. Stewards also noted this included 2 consecutive strikes prior to the 100m.

WICKED'N' LOVIN'IT – C Bayliss, rider of WICKED'N' LOVIN'IT, was reprimanded under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for use of the whip on 7 occasions prior to the 100m, 2 more than permitted.

KALPANA – Bumped on the hindquarters on jumping. Raced wide for the majority of the event. Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages.

JADE'S MISSION – Jumped out at the start and bumped SISTINE CHAPEL.

CRAIGLEA KARLY – Slow to begin. Approaching the 150m obliged to alter course to the inside to secure clear running.

SISTINE AVENUE – Bumped at the start.


Race 6: STRATA COMPLIANCE SOLUTIONS QTIS Three-Year-Old
Maiden Plate 1600 metres

AMERICAN JAZZ – Held up for clear running from the entrance to the home straight until approaching the 200m.

PERFECT POWER – Bumped on the hindquarters at the start when TOSEN FAIRY was crowded at the start. Brushed on the hindquarters entering the home straight by LADY LE DA which shifted out to improve. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.

RALLY – Raced keenly in the early stages before obtaining cover near the 1100m.

TAPILDOODLEDO – Checked at the start when AMERICAN JAZZ shifted in abruptly on jumping.

ULTIMATE OUTCOME – Raced keenly in the early stages. Lost it’s off hind plate in running.

LADY LE DA – Shifted in under pressure over the concluding stages.

TOSEN FAIRY – Crowded on jumping and lost ground at the start. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the horse was exhibiting symptoms of the thumps.


Race 7: TK ELEVATOR Maiden Plate 2200 metres

FAUSTO – L. Cassidy, rider of FAUSTO, was reprimanded under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for use of the whip on 7 occasions prior to the 100m, 2 more than permitted.

JAKAT – Hampered shortly after the start and lost ground when FEAR THE TRUTH jumped out.

MEDIEVAL CROWN – When asked to comment rider R Fradd advised the horse is one-paced, and for this reason he elected to leave a reward trailing position at the 1300m and progress forward to lead the event from the 1000m.

SOOBPURB DANCER – Dropped its head as the start was effected and lost ground. C Robertson, rider of SOOBPURB DANCER, was fined $300 under AR132(5) for use of the whip on 16 occasions in totality of the event, with Stewards noting there were also 7 strikes prior to the 100m.

TAVISTOCK SQUARE – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the horse was exhibiting symptoms of the thumps.

FEAR THE TRUTH – Jumped out at the start.

WILLNOTQUIT – On arrival at the barriers the saddle on the horse was readjusted.
