GENERAL
 
Stewards permitted the following overweight allowances for today’s meeting:
Race 3: B. Thornton + 0.5kg = 56.5kg
Race 7: B. Thornton + 0.5kg = 56.5kg
 
Race 2: DARE TO SHARE was declared a late scratching at 11:15am after being injured whilst being loaded onto the float. Connections were advised a veterinary clearance would be required prior to the horse being permitted to race again.
 
Trainer N. McCall was fined $200 pursuant to LR 67(1) for failing to declare a rider for PLATINUM ROSE engaged in race 1 by the prescribed time.
 
Trainer B. Lockwood was fined $100 pursuant to LR 67(1) for failing to declare a rider for AYE BEE ARE engaged in race 5 by the prescribed time.
 
Trainer V. Heading was fined $300 pursuant to LR 67(1) for failing to declare riders for his runners engaged in races 1, 5 and 6 by the prescribed time.
 
 
Race 1: HIGGINS COATINGS Maiden Handicap 1000 metres
 
CANNY BE BETTER – Momentarily steadied from the heels of O’TYCOON approaching the 600m. M. Cahill, the rider of O’TYCOON, was advised to exercise greater care when shifting ground in future. Disappointed for clear running approaching the 250m and was obliged to shift inwards to improve.
 
DARLHISMA – Slow to begin. Put in an awkward stride at the 500m. held up in the early stages of the home straight until approaching the 200m. Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages.
 
O'TYCOON – Cast its off fore plate.
 
POWERALONG – Over-raced in the early stages. Laid out rounding the home turn.
 
PLATINUM ROSE – Began awkwardly. Momentarily steadied at the 900m when awkwardly placed at the heels of MAX’S SOURCE which shifted out when being restrained.

ASHILLA – Began awkwardly.
 
MAX'S SOURCE – Began awkwardly. Rider W. D’Avila reported his saddle shifted backwards at the start.
 
 
Race 2: DOUBLE R THOROUGHBREDS OPEN Handicap 1200 metres
 
MARWAY – Over-raced in the early stages.
 
SUPERARE – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
 
MORT DOYLE – Momentarily steadied from the heels of TAVISAN(NZ) approaching the 900m. R. Maloney, the rider of TAVISAN(NZ), was advised to exercise greater care when shifting ground in future.
 
Following the running of this event the track was downgraded to a soft 5 retrospectively.
 
Race 3: PFD FOODSERVICES Maiden Handicap 1400 metres
 
WARCAN (NZ) Raced wide throughout.
 
BOOM CIRCUS – Over-raced in the early stages. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be displaying clinical signs of cardiac arrythmia. Connections were advised a veterinary clearance inclusive of an ECG report would be required prior to completing a satisfactory steward’s trial before the gelding would be permitted to race again.
 
LORD LOUISON – Held up rounding the home turn.
 
PANTHER POWER – Slow to begin. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have soreness in the off foreleg. Connections advised stewards that the gelding would be sent for a spell.
 
ZHUANG SHI – Began awkwardly.
 
BERENIB – Inconvenienced approaching the 900m.
 
DEVINE FALLS – Commenced to over-race approaching the 900m and shifted wider to avoid heels.
 
METZARRO – Bumped shortly after the start. Raced wide throughout.
 
REITERATE – Raced wide throughout. A warning was placed on the gelding for a poor performance. Rider L. Dillion was reminded of her obligations regarding her use of the whip when not in contention.
 
Race 4: COASTAL STYLE CONSTRUCTIONS Maiden Handicap
1400 metres
 
GLEN MASSEY (NZ) – Hampered at the start and lost ground. Steadied from the heels of PLAYING HOOKIE approaching the 1100m which shifted in when not fully clear to do so. Apprentice A. Jones, the rider of PLAYING HOOKIE, was reprimanded pursuant to AR 131(a) for this incident.
 
BEAU FLYER – Jumped inwards at the start.
 
MARLEEDOONE – Hampered at the start and taken inwards.
 
HARMONY REIGNS (NZ) - Raced wide throughout.
 
SET ABLAZE – Raced in restricted room upon entrance to the home straight and bumped with MARLEEDOONE for a number of strides.
 
BAY'S SPIRIT – Began awkwardly. Over-raced in the middle stages and approaching the 900m improved onto heels and shifted wider. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed minor lacerations to the outside of the off fore fetlock.
 
PLAYING HOOKIE – Over-raced approaching the 900m and had to be steadied from heels.

 
Race 5: CUSTOMISED CAR FINANCE Class 2 Handicap 1600 metres
 
CALCAREOUS – Disappointed for clear running approaching the 200m and was obliged to shift inwards to improve.
 
PIZZO – Over-raced approaching the 1300m.
 
STREET FIGHTER – Began awkwardly.
 
BETTER LAD – Began awkwardly. Raced in restricted room for a short distance approaching the 1300m.
 
TEE AMICI – Began awkwardly.
 
EVRYNOW'N'THEN – Slow to begin.
 
 
Race 6: LIEBKE BUILDERS BENCHMARK 58 Handicap 1200 metres
 
BORN A WARRIOR - Slow to begin. Held up for clear running rounding the home turn until approaching the 200m.
 
REGAL CONQUEROR – Began awkwardly. Over-race in the middle stages. Approaching the 200m had to be steadied when awkwardly placed at the heels of MIDNIGHT RAMBLER which laid out under pressure.
 
MIDNIGHT RAMBLER – Underwent a veterinary examination after being kicked by another runner behind the barriers and was subsequently cleared to start. Laid out under pressure approaching the 200m.
 
SET ME UP – Jumped inwards at the start. Raced wide.
 
HALFAHOPE – Began awkwardly.
 
Race 7: TAB BENCHMARK 62 Handicap 1400 metres
 
MISS TOO FLY – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
VERY INTOXICATING – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Shifted out under pressure over the concluding stages.
 
CASHOFFA – Raced keenly in the early stages.
