GENERAL
Stewards approved the following overweight allowances at today’s meeting-

Race 6 – GHOSTWRITER – B. Loy +1/2kg

Trainer D. Hansen was fined $200 pursuant to LR 67(1) for failing to declare a rider for CURRY LEGEND engaged in race 4 by the prescribed time.

Trainer J. Edwards was fined $200 pursuant to LR 68(1) for failing to scratch KING HAMMURABI engaged in race 6 by the prescribed time.

Race 1: TOUCAN REMOVALS QTIS Two-Year-Old Maiden Handicap 1000 metres

MISHANI LIGHT – Raced greenly

SHOW ME MERCY – Began awkwardly.

DIAMOND HEELS – Began awkwardly. Forced wider leaving the 600m when GIRLS IN PEARLS shifted out to improve. Raced greenly throughout. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the filly to be lame in the right foreleg. Trainer C. Munce was advised a veterinary clearance prior to racing again.

GIRLS IN PEARLS – became awkwardly placed at the heels of MISHANI ROYALEA at the 900m and had to be steadied.


Race 2: TILERS TRADE CENTRE Maiden Handicap 1000 metres

EIGHT CYLINDERS (NZ) – Shifted in at the start and bumped STAR PRINCE.

INVAHIR – Approaching the 200m was obliged to alter course to the outside of NICOVER to secure clear running. Approaching the 100m was obliged to alter course to the outside of CURRY LEGEND to secure clear running.

STAR PRINCE – Slow to begin, was then bumped by EIGHT CYLINDERS (NZ) and lost ground. Rider M. Harley advised stewards that the gelding raced green throughout the event.

ZI WIN – Fractious before the start.

NICOVER – Blundered approaching the 700m.



Race 3: 92.7 MIX FM'S MARK & CAROLINE COUNTRY HEIST BENCHMARK 58 Handicap 1300 metres

STORMTROOPER – Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which revealed no abnormalities.

BELLICOSE – Raced three wide throughout.

ASTROPHYSICS – Hampered at the start and lost ground.

FEND OFF (NZ) – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Apprentice R. Wilson was fined $200 pursuant to AR 132(7)(a)(ii) for using her whip 9 times before the 100m, that being 4 more than permitted.


Race 4: HOME CARE ASSISTANCE Class 1 Handicap 1800 metres

TUKI TWELVE – Slow to begin.

BARONIAL – Over-raced in the early stages. Laid in under pressure in the early stages of the home straight and became awkward at the heels of THE LOVE OF MARY.

BOLD ENFORCER – Raced three wide in the early stages.

SET ME UP – Began awkwardly. Held up for clear running in the early stages of the home straight.

NIGHT VISION (NZ) - A post-race veterinary examination revealed the horse had bled from both nostrils for the first time. Trainer P. Jenkins was advised NIGHT VISION would be stood down from racing for a period of 3 months and must gallop 1000m in the presence of a Steward prior to its next race start under AR79(4).

DANEROCK – Fractious before the start. Rider T. Brooker advised that the gelding would be suited by a drop back in distance.

QUARTER PAST – Raced wide throughout.

RECALL EVENTS – Tired over the concluding stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

Race 5: THE BALIN STEWART FOUNDATION Maiden Handicap 1400 metres

Due to lightning in close proximity to the course the start of this event was rescheduled to commence at 4:06pm with race 6 at 4:49pm and race 7 at 5:22pm. Following 14 mil of rain failing the track was downgraded to a soft 5.

COUNTER COMMAND – Turned its head as the start was effected and lost significant ground, taking no competitive part thereafter. Trainer G. Duncan was advised the gelding would be required to official trial to the satisfaction of stewards before being permitted to start.

PRIVATE BANKER – Over-raced in the middle stages.

TYSON'S FURY – Over-raced in the early and middle stages.

TUBTHUMPER – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.

ALITTLETIFF – Began awkwardly and lost ground between runners. Over-raced in the middle stages.

TORQUE LEICA STAR– Began awkwardly.

GLENEAGLE MISSILE – Raced wide throughout.

PLAYING HOOKIE – Raced wide throughout.

Following the running of this event the track was downgraded to a soft 7 retrospectively.

Race 6: BOQ MAROOCHYDORE SUMMER PROVINCIAL SPRINT SERIES - HEAT - BENCHMARK 75 1300 metres

MAGNUS BELLAGIO – Approaching the 1000m was momentarily awkward at the heels of GHOSTWRITER. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Rider S. Thornton advised stewards that the gelding didn’t appreciate the rain affected track conditions.

OCEAN EMPEROR – Trainer J. Bruce advised the intention would be to have the gelding ridden with cover if circumstances permit. After beginning well was unable secure cover and settled in a one wide position.

WILMOT PASS – Crowded for room shortly after the start.

GHOSTWRITER – Jumped inwards at the start. Held up in the early stages of the home straight.

BOLD AND LUCY – Restrained in the early stages from the wide barrier to secure a position closer to the rail. Rider N. Beriman was reprimanded pursuant to AR 132(7)(a)(ii) for using her whip 6 times before the 100m, that being 1 more than permitted.


Race 7: 92.7 MIX FM'S TODD & SAMI BENCHMARK 65 Handicap1400 metres

AWE – Obliged to alter course approaching the 200m to secure clear running.

RISING STAR - Over-raced in the middle stages. Laid inwards upon entrance to the home straight and became awkward at the heels of TRY TO BE GOOD.

THE LOVE ROCKET – Began awkwardly. Rider J. Byrne advise stewards that the mare was under pressure from the 800m and was disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer J. Edwards advised he would have his stable veterinarian examined the mare in the coming days and would report back to stewards if there were to b

BETTER LAD – Raced wide throughout.

JAC THE GREAT – Crowded at the start and lost ground.

POPPY JOAN - Began awkwardly. Over-raced in the middle stages.

TRY TO BE GOOD – Slow to begin. Over-raced in the middle stages.
