Race 3: ALEX SURF CLUB - GEOFF DRUMMOND MEMORIAL Class 4 Handicap 1400 metres SAMMY – Stewards questioned the tactics adopted by jockey G. Geran in setting a fast tempo in the lead during the early and middle stages. Jockey Geran explained that it had not been his intention to lead and had looked for cover in the early stages. He agreed that from the 1100m his mount over raced, and whilst he was restraining his mount, he felt that if he restrained more vigorously, SAMMY would have become more ungenerous. After reviewing the race footage, Stewards were satisfied with jockey Geran’s explanation. ANGELS SHARE – Over raced during the early stages when restrained to obtain cover. Race 4: RED BELLY SPORTS QTIS Three-Year-Old Maiden Plate 1400 metres BOLD HUSSAR – Held up for clear running on rounding the home turn and until the 350m. CONTI – Slow to begin.
