Stewards approved the following overweights:
Race 5. L. Cassidy +1kg
 
 
Race 1: XXXX BAT OUT OF HELL 850 metres
 
Correct weight was delayed to allow connections of LA AMIGO to review the photo finish. At a subsequent enquiry, acting under AR214(4)(a) the judge amended his placings, declared a dead-heat and subsequently semaphored the amended numbers 4-9, 10, 6.
 
LE PALMIER – Raced wide throughout.
 
JE SUIS BELLE – Jumped awkwardly. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Passing the 200m, was obliged to alter course after SUPERARE laid in under pressure.

GOLDSBOROUGH (NZ) – Began awkwardly.
 
SUPERARE – Jumped awkwardly and lost ground.
 
LA AMIGO – Shifted a plate in the preliminary and required farrier attention on arrival at the barriers. A pre race veterinary examination cleared the gelding to start
 
SPIRIT PRINCESS – Over raced approaching the 600 whilst racing in restricted room to the inside of THE MOVE.
 
Race 2: THANK YOU SCTC BENCHMARK 78 Handicap 2400 metres
 
AL AABIR (IRE) – Began awkwardly.
 
HONORABLE SPIRIT – Jumped awkwardly. Raced wide until the 1400m.
 
SCARLET TUFTY (FR) – Began awkwardly.
 
CLYDE – On entering the home straight, momentarily inconvenienced when having to avoid the heels of GAMBU which shifted out to improve. When asked to comment on the performance of the gelding, jockey L. Cassidy could offer no explanation on the performance of CLYDE. A post race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities.
 
RELUCENT (NZ) – Underwent a post race veterinary examination which revealed a slow post race recovery.  
 
BRYNNER (NZ) – Slow to begin.
 
YOUTHFULL – Hampered on entering the home straight.
 
GAMBU (NZ) – Jumped inwards at the start. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
INUWASHI (IRE) – Very slow to begin. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be displaying clinical signs of heat stress and weas treated on course.
 
CONTRITION (NZ) – Slow to begin.
 
 
Race 3: AQUIS STALLIONS GOLD COAST BRACELET 1800 metres
 
WOLVERINE (NZ) – Raced wide throughout.
 
TYRESA – Slow to begin.
 
STREET GOSSIP – Held up for clear running on entering the home straight.
 
MADAME ODETTE – Leaving the 1100m, became awkwardly placed on the heels of VEANDECHANCE.
 
SILVAKIA (NZ) – Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout. Held up passing the 300m and became awkwardly placed on the heels of WHISKER TO WHISKER and was obliged to shift wider to improve.
 
SEQUESTERED – Over raced during the early and middle stages. Leaving the 400m, obliged to alter course to obtain clear running.
 
VEANDECHANCE – Leaving the 1200m, improved onto heels when being restrained. Had difficulty obtaining clear running passing the 300m, shifted out to improve, bumping WHISKER TO WHISKER.
 
STREET GLORY – Raced wide throughout
 
WHISKER TO WHISKER – Raced wide throughout.
 
YANKEE HUSSEL – Raced keenly during the early stages.
 
 
Race 4: TAB KEN RUSSELL MEMORIAL CLASSIC 1200 metres
 
MISHANI GANGSTER – A post race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities.
 
ROTHGO – A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be stepping short. Trainer J. Thomas reported that it is his intention to send ROTHGO for an immediate spell.
 
TORQUE I TEE – Lost the near fore plate in running.
 
INFLUENTIAL – Slow to begin. Approaching the 1000m, had to be restrained to avoid the heels of MONEY TEAM which shifted out after being crossed by SHE MINE. Approaching the 900m, became awkwardly placed at heels after being carried in by ZIMO.
 
RUSSIAN ALLIANCE – Passing the 1000m, was severely hampered, carried in across the heels of RINGER’S REWARD and had to be checked after being carried in by SHE MINE which shifted in abruptly. Jockey N. Beriman’s license to ride in races was suspended for 15 days pursuant to AR131(a) commencing midnight the 15th of May 2023 and ending midnight the 30th of May 2023.
 
SALT LAKE BETTY - Declared a late scratching at 2.40pm on veterinary advice after becoming cast in the tie-up stalls. Prior to the declaration of correct weight, Stewards ordered that all bets placed on SALT LAKE BETTY would be subjected to the following deductions:
1st – RUSSIAN ALLIANCE 2c win, 1c place
2nd – ABOUNDING 2c place
3rd – TRIFLING 2c place
 
ABOUNDING – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
SHE MINE – Laid in under pressure in the straight, and approaching the 100m became awkwardly placed on the heels of RINGERS’S REWARD which shifted out marginally.
 
MONEY TEAM – Over raced throughout. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
Race 5: ATTWOOD MARSHALL LAWYERS SILK STOCKING 1400 metres
 
TYCOON EVIE – Raced wide throughout.
 
MEDIA AWARD – Raced wide throughout. Passing the 800m, had to steadied off heels.
 
FASHCHANEL (NZ) – Jockey S. Collett reported that she dropped her whip near the 200m.
 
WONDERFUL RIRI – Raced wide throughout.
 
OCEAN TREATY (NZ) – Declared a late scratching at 3.11pm by order of Stewards when no replacement rider was available when jockey L. Cassidy was stood down on medical advice.
 
ADELASE – Trainer B. Baldwin was fined $100 pursuant to LR67(1) for the late declaration of rider.
 
ESSONNE (NZ) – Jockey C. Schofield was unable to make the allotted weight of 54kg. Due to no replacement ride being available, jockey Schofield rode at 54.5kg. Jockey C. Schofield was fined $400 pursuant to AR190(3) for accepting a ride when overweight.
 
RENOUF – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
TICK TOCK QUEEN – Delayed the start when proved difficult to load into the barriers. Jumped awkwardly.
 
OSMOSE (FR) – Passing the 200m, became momentarily inconvenienced when having to avoid the heels of LOVE SENSATION.
 
RAVAGED AWARD – Jumped awkwardly.
 
MISS BALTIMORE – Jumped awkwardly and shifted out. Raced wide throughout.
 
Race 6: BRANDONS GOLD COAST GUINEAS 1200 metres
 
YELLOW BRICK – Bumped at the start. Raced wide throughout.
 
SWISS EXILE – Raced wide throughout. Was obliged to alter course when entering the home straight when awkwardly placed on heels of SPACEWALK. Laid in under pressure approaching the winning post and had to be restrained.
 
SOOTHSAYER – Held up for clear running in the home straight. Passing the 300m, was obliged to shift wider to improve.
 
SPACEWALK – Raced wide throughout.
 
MILLANE – Passing the 300m, had to be directed off the heels of END ASSEMBLY which shifted in momentarily.
 
LUBRICATION – Began awkwardly. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Over raced throughout. A post race veterinary examination revealed a laceration to the off fore heel.
 
BUNKER HUT (NZ) – Fractious in the barriers. Began awkwardly and bumped YELLOW BRICK. Shortly thereafter, shifted out, hampering KIKO.
 
RUSSIAN CONQUEST – As jockey L. Cassidy was stood down from his remaining engagements, he was replaced on RUSSIAN CONQUEST by J. Byrne. Held up for clear running entering the home straight.
 
MUMBAI JEWEL – Held up for clear running on entering the home straight.
 
MIDNIGHT IN TOKYO – Began awkwardly. Over raced during the early and middle stages. Over raced when racing in restricted room to the inside of MUMBAI JEWEL passing the 800m. Approaching the 200m had to be restrained when racing in restricted room between MUMBAI JEWEL and KIKO.
 
KIKO – Began awkwardly. Over raced throughout.
 
Race 7: TAB A.D. HOLLINDALE STAKES 1800 metres
 
ZAAKI (GB) – Slow to begin. Raced wide in the early stages before moving forward to take up a position closer to the lead near the 1300m.
 
NO COMPROMISE (NZ) – Had to be resaddled on arrival at the barriers.
 
HUETOR (FR) – Slow to begin.
 
SKYMAN (GB) – Slow to begin. Rounding the turn near the 1500m, laid out and commenced to over race.
 
KOLDING (NZ) – When questioned regarding leading in the event, jockey D. Thornton stated that his instructions were to ride in a position a pair or two back, however, after being caught wide in the early stages he had no choice but to push forward on the gelding and lead the event.
 
BANKERS CHOICE (NZ) – Passing the 200m, was obliged to shift wider to improve.
 
JUST FOLK – Over raced early and middle stages. Raced wide throughout. Laid out under pressure over the concluding stages.
 
ATISHU (NZ) – Slow to begin. Jockey N. Rawiller, when asked to comment on the performance of the mare stated that the mare finished off well considering the soft tempo of the race, and may be suited to a race with a more genuine tempo.
 
 
Race 8: AUSTRALIAN TURF CLUB TROPHY 1200 metres
 
HILAL – Raced wide throughout.
 
VINCO – Slow to begin.
 
FAR TOO EASY – Raced wide throughout.
 
LAST CHANCE – Near the 900m raced in restricted room when RANGES shifted in.
 
IRISH SONGS – Jockey L. Cassidy was replaced by S. Collett. Slow to begin. Over raced when the pace slackened approaching the 900m.
 
BRIGANTINE – Had to be resaddled on arrival at the barriers. Also, lost the off fore plate in the preliminary and underwent farrier attention on arrival at the barriers. Began awkwardly. Raced wide throughout. When questioned regarding the performance of the gelding, jockey J. McDonald stated that the horse was quite worked up pre race, and given the wide barrier the gelding finished the race off well. He further added that he would anticipate a big improvement second up.
 
JUAN DIVA – Co-trainer W. Freedman was fined $200 under LR67(1) for the late declaration of rider.
 
ME ME LAGARDE – Began awkwardly. Over raced approaching the 900m.
 
SALATEEN – As C. Schofield was unable to make the allocated weight on the mare, he was replaced by M. Du Plessis.
 
INDISPENSABLE – Passing the 200m held up for clear running and unable to be tested over the concluding stages.
 
FIFTEEN ROUNDS – Tightened for room on jumping.
 
SIR WARWICK – Slow to begin.
 
 
Race 9: MEN MATTER RACEDAY 29 JULY BENCHMARK 85 Handicap 1600 metres
 
AUSSIE NUGGET (IRE) – Stood flatfooted and lost considerable ground at the start. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Trainer T. Gollan was advised that AUSSIE NUGGET will require a further barrier certificate prior to racing again.
 
ROUSSEAU – Underwent a pre race veterinary examination and declared a late scratching at 5.25pm when the gelding was found to be lame in the near foreleg. Trainer’s representative Mr C Duckworth was advised that ROUSSEAU will require a veterinary clearance prior to racing again.
 
OPACITY (NZ) – Jockey A. Mallyon stated that OPACITY travelled reasonably well throughout, however, when placed under pressure in the home straight, could offer no explanation but was of the opinion the gelding was better suited on rain-effected surfaces. A post race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities.
 
ATLANTIC EAGLE (NZ) – A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have sustained a laceration to the near hindleg, and was treated on course. Trainer P. Duncan was advised that ATLANTIC EAGLE will require a veterinary clearance prior to racing again.
 
HILLCREST AVENUE (IRE) – Raced greenly when placed under pressure in the home straight.
