As jockey L. Tilley was not riding today for acceptable reasons, rider replacements are noted below in the Stewards Raceday Summary.

Race 1: WIMMERS PREMIUM SOFT DRINKS Maiden Plate 1200 metres

CHANCE AT MIDNIGHT – Jockey M. Butler underwent a medical examination after being stood down at Toowoomba the previous evening, and was cleared to ride. Jumped outwards at the start and bumped WEALDSTONE. Was inclined to lay out under pressure in the home straight.

MASTER'N'COMMANDER – Jockey D. Thornton reported that the gelding travelled well throughout however when asked to quicken on rounding the home turn, failed to respond to his riding and was disappointing.

TAJIRI – Whilst weakening in the home straight, raced greenly.

WEALDSTONE - Slow to begin and bumped at the start by CHANCE AT MIDNIGHT. Jockey R. Wiggins reported that after being slow to begin WEALDSTONE was reluctant to take part in the event and he was obliged to pressure the gelding significantly in the early and middle stages to remain in contact with the field. He added that as the gelding was doing its best work over the concluding stages, he felt a step up to 1600m would be beneficial.

SHE'S SOO GOOD – Raced wide throughout.

VALANTINO ROC (NZ) – Slow to begin. Laid out rounding the home turn.

Race 2: PROLIQUOR QTIS Two-Year-Old Handicap 1000 metres

BETTERLETMEDANCE – Slow to begin. Jockey D. Thornton, when asked to comment on the filly’s overall performance and the tactics adopted, he stated that he had been instructed to travel in the second half of the field, and therefore did not ride vigorously from the barriers. He indicated that he asked the filly to improve from the 700m and she raced somewhat greenly in the middle stages. When rounding the home turn, whilst still attempting to improve, he had difficulty securing clear running and was obliged to alter course near the 200m in order to secure clear running. As BETTERLETMEDANCE was doing her best work over the concluding stages, he felt a step up in distance would be beneficial and that the filly would be improved from the race experience.
