DARLING HEART – Jumped in at the start. MISHARE – Began awkwardly and shifted out at the start. FLYING MAPLE – The right foot of rider A Thompson contacted the barrier partition on jumping. A Thompson was examined the Club medical officer following the event and stood down from his remaining rides and advised he would require a medical clearance prior to his next race or trial ride.Crowded between runners at the start and lost ground. Held up for clear running between the 600m and the entrance to the home straight and as a consequence improved onto heels passing the 500m and had to be restrained. Rider A Thompson dropped his whip near the 200m. FORGETS ME NOT - Raced wide for the majority of the event. Race 2: BARRIER REEF POOLS QTIS Two-Year-Old Colts & Geldings Maiden Handicap 1000 metres SER JOH – Jumped out abruptly at the start. When placed under pressure in the home straight raced greenly and shifted significantly wider on the track despite the efforts of its rider. A post-race veterinary examination revealed lameness in the near foreleg. Trainer R Heathcote was advised the horse would require a veterinary clearance prior to its next race or trial start. PONTYPRIDD – Buffeted between runners at the start. Raced wide for the majority of the event. WIN AND TONIC – Taken out at the start resulting in runners to the outside being crowded.Momentarily awkwardly placed at the heels of THE MERCHANT leaving the 900m. VIKING VALOUR – Raced greenly and inclined to lay out for the majority of the event and as a result near the 200m became awkwardly placed at the heels of PONTYPRIDD. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow post-race recovery. Trainer P Duff’s representative was advised a warning would be placed on the horse’s racing manners. THE MERCHANT – Bumped at the start. EXTRA FREE – Crowded between runners at the start and lost ground. Race 3: COASTLINE BMW QTIS Three-Year-Old Maiden Plate 1600 metres ORBIT – After taking charge of its rider during the preliminary and galloping an entire circuit of the course the gelding was withdrawn by order of the stewards at 1:12pm. On declaration of correct weight Stewards ordered all bets on ORBIT refunded in full and the following deduction to apply: 1st FREDDIE – 8c win, 9c place2nd CYGNET RIVER – 13c place3rd SUSPICIOUS TIME – 9c place Trainer L Freedman was advised ORBIT would require a further barrier certificate prior to its next race start. CYGNET RIVER – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Obliged to alter course approaching the 200m when FREDDIE shifted ground. FREDDIE – Shifted out under pressure near the 200m. SUSPICIOUS TIME – Near the 850m momentarily became momentarily awkward in its stride when sighting a piece of plastic had blown onto the course proper. WARTHOG – After being slow to begin was a short distance later bumped heavily by FRIJOLES which was taken out by GRANDCOEUR. Approaching the 300m raced in restricted room when WHISKEY AND BEER laid in under pressure. J Lloyd, rider of WHISKEY AND BEER, was reprimanded for careless riding under AR131(a) in this incident. WHISKEY AND BEER – Laid in under pressure in the early stages of the home straight. FRIJOLES – A short distance after the start bumped heavily with WARTHOG. Approaching the 50m had to be steadied when both GRANDCOUER and WHISKEY AND BEER shifted ground. GRANDCOEUR – Jumped out at the start. Leaving the 200m disappointed for a run between SUSPICIOUS TIME and FREDDIE. Passing the 100m was restrained by its rider after CYGNET RIVER improved quickly to its inside and SUSPICIOUS TIME laid in marginally before being corrected by its rider. Race 4: DUNLOP SUPER DEALER CALOUNDRA BENCHMARK 65 Handicap 1800 metres MADAME DU GAST – Raced keenly in the early stages of the home straight. LEORED – Slow to begin. LUVYOUANYTIME – Commenced to weaken from the 800m and was eased down by its rider in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the horse to be displaying symptoms of cardiac arrhythmia. Trainer P Duff was advised the horse would require a veterinary certificate inclusive of a satisfactory ECG test and must also trial satisfactorily prior to its next race start. VAN NUYS – Shifted out under pressure over the final 100m. WINSTON BLUE – As A Thompson was injured Stewards permitted S Collett to ride the horse. Slow to begin. Rider S Collett dropped her whip approaching the 250m. EARN OUT – Began awkwardly. Shifted out under pressure in the home straight. Race 5: MARTIN COLLINS AUSTRALIA Class 2 Handicap1000 metres MR GALAZI – Laid out under pressure in the home straight. NICKELBACK – Bumped heavily with SONGZILLA on jumping. SONGZILLA – Bumped heavily with NICKLEBACK on jumping. SNEAKY STARTER – Laid out under pressure in the home straight. Race 6: SUNSHINE COAST BUSINESS SOLUTIONS Class 2 Handicap1000 metres PREACH – Jumped in at the start. After being bumped by KING’S EXPRESS near the 800m was then obliged to be momentarily steadied after being awkwardly placed at the heels of NORD LYON. Rider reported the horse was making an abnormal breathing noise on pulling up. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Co-trainer Toby Edmonds advised PREACH had previously undergone a wind operation and may not have been suited by the 60.5kg impost adding that he would report back any condition which may come to light in the coming days. NORD LYON – Bumped at the start. DIVINE OKAY – Jumped out at the start. Raced five wide for the majority of the event. KING'S EXPRESS – Kicked out behind after being loaded into the barriers. Bumped near the 800m. Raced three wide for the majority of the event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a minor laceration to the inside of the near hind fetlock. COBURG – Jumped out at the start and bumped NORD LYON. Raced seven wide for the majority of the event. SOOBLOND – Near the 600m had to be restrained when crowded for room by POWER SISTER which was taken in by NORD LYON. B Wheeler, rider of NORD LYON, was reprimanded for careless riding under AR131(a) for careless riding in this incident. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the horse to have dislodged a tooth. POWER SISTER – Approaching the 800m laid out and bumped KING’S EXPRESS. Raced four wide for the majority of the event. LE WEASEL – After beginning awkwardly was then crowded between runners and lost ground. Raced six wide for the majority of the event. Race 7: PARKLANDS TAVERN RATINGS BAND 0 - 62 Handicap 1200 metres HOTSTEP – Hampered at the start when SPIRIT PRINCESS jumped out. SPILL THE TEARS – Near the 900m, when racing tightly to the inside of SPIRIT PRINCESS, became unbalanced when being steadied, shifted in and bumped SHAPIN POWER. BOOMI'S BUDDY – Shortly after the start bumped on the hindquarters when RED STSAR RUBI shifted out. SPIRIT PRINCESS – Jumped out at the start. Passing the 300m steadied when weakening after UNLIKELYOCCURENCE shifted out to improve. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormality. SIMPLY VENUS – Began awkwardly. RED STAR RUBI – Began very awkwardly and lost ground. SHAPIN POWER – Near the 900m bumped by SPILL THE TEARS. UNLIKELYOCCURRENCE – Slow to begin. SIAN STAR – Approaching the 350 improved onto the heels of the tiring SPIRIT PRINCESS and obliged to shift in. Race 8: TAB WINTER SPRINTERS SERIES - HEAT - BENCHMARK 75 Handicap 1200 metres MIX – Stewards acceded to a request from trainer L Freedman to scratch the horse at 2:05pm due to Mr Freedman having concerns that the horse may not be suited by todays racing surface which had deteriorated following recent racing and the placement of the rail at 10 metres at the two most recent race meetings. BE WATER MY FRIEND – Raced wide for the majority of the event. When asked to comment on tactics to lead rider M Du Plessis reported it was not his intention to lead however with the better barrier draw, the rail placement today and with a drop back to provincial class, he elected to race in a forward position after the horse began well. Stewards noted the explanation of M Du Plessis. DARE TO SHARE – Bumped at the start.Raced wide for the majority of the event. Leaving the 200m checked from the heels of CRACKER ESSGEE and lost ground. At a subsequent inquiry N Evans, rider of KOSCIUSKO, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR131(a) in that leaving the 200m he directed KOSCIUSKO out resulting in PROPELLE being tightened for racing room and carried wider which resulted in DARE TO SHARE being taken across the heels of CRACKER ESSGEE and having to be checked. The licence of N Evans to ride in races was suspended for a period of 15 days to commence midnight 18th June up to and including midnight 3rd July 2023. JAKAMA – As apprentice Jake Molloy was injured Stewards permitted apprentice Angela Jones to ride JAKAMA. Slow to begin. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. KOSCIUSKO – Slow to begin. Held up rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the home straight. PROPELLE – Leaving the 200m tightened for racing room and carried wider on the track. SPELLCATCHER – After beginning awkwardly was then restrained across heels to obtain a position closer to the rails.Near the 100m crowded for room and had to checked when JAKAMA continued to lay in despite the efforts of its rider. CRACKER ESSGEE – Jumped out at the start and bumped DARE TO SHARE. LAMBDONA ENERGY – Raced keenly in the early stages.
