Stewards permitted the following weight variations at today’s meeting:
Race 2: FLYING MAPLE – A Thompson 55kg (+1kg)
Race 3: BELDEVILE – A Thompson 54.5kg (+0.5kg)
Race 6: MAGIC MIKEY – L Cassidy 54.5kg (+0.5kg)
 
 
Race 1: ACTION TRAFFIC QTIS Three-Year-Old Maiden Handicap 1800 metres
 
AHOY – Caught wide in the early stages before progressing forward to race outside the leader from the 1400m.
 
BLUE MERLE – Slow to begin.
 
GRANDCOEUR – Over-raced for a short distance near the 1400m.
 
 
Race 2: WESTPAC LIFESAVER HELICOPTER QTIS Two-Year-Old
Maiden Handicap 1200 metres
 
PINKUS – Jumped in at the start and bumped ELLE MAGIC.
 
WINSOME STAR – Held up for clear running from approaching the 300m until near the 150m.
 
MY SPY – Held up for clear running rounding the home turn. Raced greenly throughout the event, particularly when placed under pressure in the early stages of the home straight.
 
THE MERCHANT – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Rider M Powell momentarily dropped his offside rein near the 300m.
 
ELLE MAGIC – Jumped out at the start and bumped PINKUS.
 
DARLING HEART – Laid in during the early stages of the home straight.
 
FLYING MAPLE – Slow to begin. Shortly after the start, when shifting in to obtain a position closer to the rails, became awkwardly placed at the heels of CHAYSE ’N’ ADAM and had to be steadied. Raced wide from the 800m.
 
 
Race 3: SUNSHINE COAST HOTELS PUNTER'S CLUB Maiden Handicap
1200 metres
 
The start of this event was delayed while holding for an interstate venue.
 
SLAVA OMNIAWONDAIN – Checked between runners at the start and lost ground.
 
CURRY LEGEND – Began awkwardly.
 
THORSBY – When struck with the whip passing the 100m commenced to shift out causing its rider to stop riding and straighten THORSBY over the concluding stages.
 
WEST CORK – Slow to begin. Laid in for the majority of the event, particularly when placed under pressure in the home straight. Near the 200m raced in restricted room between EIGHT CYLINDERS and CURRY LEGEND which was taken in by VIRGO VISION which laid in under pressure.
 
VIRGO VISION – Began awkwardly. Near the 900m had to be restrained when racing in restricted room to the inside of MISS BONTASTIC which commenced to lose ground. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
MODEL GIRL – Slow to begin.
 
DUN WALKIN' – At the start, bumped on the hindquarters and became unbalanced.
 
LADY IS AMPED – Slow to begin.
 
STANAGE BAY – Taken out at the start and bumped SLAVA OMNIAWONDAIN.
 
MISS BONTASTIC – Jumped out at the start.
 
 
Race 4: OCEANVIEW HELICOPTERS Colts, Geldings & Entires Class 1
Plate 1000 metres
 
MIDNIGHT DRIFTER – Laid out for the majority of the event. Trainers’ representative for G Heinrich was advised a warning would be placed on the racing manners of MIDNIGHT DRIFTER. Connections indicated they would now consider applying blinkers to the horses’ approved gear.
 
OUR ROCKETMAN – Bumped by KINTAMANI when that runner improved into a narrow run to the inside of MIDNIGHT DRIFTER near the 150m.
 
SPIRIT OF GIVING – Laid in under pressure for the majority of the home straight resulting in rider S Cormack being unable to fully test his mount over the concluding stages.
 
KINTAMANI – Checked near the 150m after attempting to improve into a narrow run between OUR ROCKETMAN and MIDNIGHT DRIFTER, which after laying out was corrected by its rider, and shifted back in despite the efforts of its rider whilst weakening. Trainers’ representative for G Heinrich was advised a warning would be placed on the racing manners of MIDNIGHT DRIFTER.
 
PRONTO VINCENTO – Slow to begin. Laid in during the early stages of the event resulting in PRONTO VINCENTO becoming awkwardly placed to the outside of heels for a short distance near the 700m.  Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
 
Race 5: THE SURF CLUB MOOLOOLABA Fillies and Mares Class 1
Plate 1000 metres
 
FAVOURITE THINGS – After being kicked on the off foreleg behind the barriers by another runner, underwent a veterinary examination and was declared a late scratching at 2:10pm. On declaration of correct weight Stewards ordered all bets on FAVOURITE THINGS refunded and the following deductions to apply:
 
1st ON HOLD – 0c win, 1c place
2nd SOOBLOND – 1c place
3rd SNEAKY THREE – 2c place
 
ELESPRIT MISS – Near the 200m was inconvenienced and obliged to steady from the heels of BOCHKAREVA when that runner shifted in abruptly.
 
SNEAKY THREE – Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
BOCHKAREVA – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Rider B Thompson reported he was instructed to ride BOCHKAREVA in a forward position and it was for this reason he pressured the horse in the early stages, adding that he was disappointed with the finishing effort of BOCHKAREVA when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
SUPER SPROCKET – Slow to begin. Raced wide for the majority of the event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow post-race recovery.
 
 
 
Race 6: KINGS BEACH SURF CLUB Class 3 Handicap 1800 metres
 
GULF OF SAROS – Rider M Cahill reported it had been his intention to settle in a forward position, however was obliged to settle in the second half of the field after being slow to begin and becoming awkwardly placed to the inside of VAN NUYS shortly thereafter.
 
LEORED – Slow to begin.
 
VAN NUYS – Laid out under pressure over the concluding stages.

MAGIC MIKEY – Slow to begin.

BOLD DELAGO – Slow to begin.
 
LAGO DI BRAIES – Passing the 400m became unbalanced when VAN NUYS shifted out to improve.
 
 
 
Race 7: SURF LIFE SAVING SUNSHINE COAST RATINGS BAND 0 - 62 Handicap 1400 metres
 
RAMOKA – Raced in restricted room to the inside of IRONSIDE for a short distance after the start. Over-raced for a short distance near the 1000m and lost ground.
 
IRONSIDE – On arrival at the barriers the saddle on the horse was adjusted. Jumped in at the start. Over-raced in the middle stages of the event. Held up for clear running rounding the home turn until a point near the 200m.
 
CANNY BE BETTER – When weakening had to be steadied when tightened for room near the 200m.
 
REDENTE CHOICE – Over-raced in the middle stages of the event.
 
WINSTON SMURFHILL – Shortly after the start commenced to buck until approaching the 1200m. Trainer N McCall was advised the horse must trial satisfactorily prior to its next race start.
 
HARMONY REIGNS – Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
WICKED'N' LOVIN'IT – Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
BETTER LAD – Slow to begin and then unable to muster speed in the early stages despite the efforts of its rider. Raced wide for the majority of the event. Rider M Powell advised it had been his intention settle in a forward position however BETTER LAD was unable to muster speed despite placing pressure on his mount shortly after the start.

AU REVOIR – Raced in restricted room near the 100m.
 
JANE HIS WIFE – Over-raced in the middle stages of the event. Held up for clear running rounding the home turn.
 
 
 
Race 8: ALEX SURF CLUB RATINGS BAND 0 - 62 Handicap 1400 metres
 
AFSOON – Jumped in at the start. Near the 300m when weakening, crowded for room between FIRSTLUV, which laid in marginally, and THAT’S ALL GOOD which shifted out to improve. J Lloyd, rider of THAT’S ALL GOOD, was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances. 
 
ROMAN HEIR – Over-racing near the 1000m, when awkwardly placed at the heels of KISEKI MAN for a short distance. Held for clear running in the early stages of the home straight. Lost near fore plate in running.

SOOBPURB DANCER – Buffeted at the start and lost ground between KISEKI MAN and AFSOON, both of which shifted ground. Weakened from the 500m and eased down by its rider over the concluding stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.  Trainer M Butler was advised SOOPURB DANCER must trial satisfactorily prior to its next race start.
 
FIRSTLUV – Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
KISEKI MAN – Jumped out at the start. After passing the winning post rider M Hellyer became concerned with the horses’ action and dismounted. A post-race veterinary examination revealed lameness in the near foreleg. Trainer D Hansen was advised KISEKI MAN would require a veterinary clearance prior to its next race or trial start.
 
 

Race 9: HALCOL ENERGY QTIS Three-Year-Old BENCHMARK 65
Handicap 1000 metres
 
UNO MOON – When asked to comment on the performance rider J Huxtable reported after being slow to begin,he was obliged to pressure the horse to obtain the lead, adding that in his opinion this contributed to the disappointing finishing effort of UNO MOON. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
MISHANI WARFARE – Slow to begin.
 
GRANITE PRINCE – Laid in for the majority of the event. Inconvenienced near the 100m.
 
INVINOVICH – Slow to begin.Over-raced in the early and middle stages when being restrained to obtain cover. Held up for clear running rounding the home turn. Inconvenienced near the 100m.
 
SIMBU – Raced greenly under pressure in the home straight.
 
TOW THE LINE – Crowded shortly after the start between FIRE LOVE and SEBRING GIRL both of which shifted ground. Near the 100m steadied from the heels of SIMBU which shifted out under pressure. J Orman, rider of SIMBU, was reprimanded under AR131(a) for careless riding for failing to stop riding and straighten sooner than he did on this occasion. In this incident both GRANITE PRINCE and INVINOVICH were inconvenienced.
 
FIRE LOVE – Raced wide for the majority of the event.
