GENERAL
As J. Huxtable was not riding at today's meeting, rider replacements are as follows:
Race 4. 2. CHRISTMAS TIME - M. Cahill

Race 1: VAWDREY TRAILERS QTIS Two-Year-Old Maiden Handicap 1000 metres
 
CAPITAL CEE – Shifted in on jumping and bumped DON’T CHA WISH.
 
DON'T CHA WISH – Bumped on jumping. Held up rounding the home turn and disappointed for run near the 250m until shifting wider leaving the 200m to secure clear running.
 
ALLOW ME – Raced greenly under pressure in the home straight.
 
PRINCESS LUTETIA – Raced wide throughout. Apprentice A. Jones stated that the filly travelled well until placed under pressure in the home straight and failed to respond to her riding and proved disappointing. A post race veterinary examination revealed a poor post race recovery. Trainer M. Currie expressed his disappointment with the performance of the filly and would have his stable veterinarian examine the horse and would advise Stewards know if anything comes to light that may have had a bearing on the performance.
 
ARABIAN FOX – Began awkwardly. Over raced in the early stages when being restrained to a position with cover. Improved onto heels approaching the 500m and had to be steadied. Held up for clear running rounding the home turn.
 
BRAIDWOOD QUEEN – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
FRIENDLY SIZZLE – Over raced during the early and middle stages. Raced greenly under pressure in the home straight.
 
Race 2: ULTIMA HOTEL QTIS Two-Year-Old Maiden Handicap 1000 metres
 
RUBOS – Shifted in on jumping and bumped TOUR DE FIELD. Raced wide throughout.
 
TOUR DE FIELD – Hampered on jumping. Approaching the 200m, had to be momentarily steadied from the heels of LEEANNIE which shifted out and away from CYBERWARS. Raced wide throughout.  A post race veterinary examination revealed a poor post race recovery.
 
SWITCH AND SLIDE – After being bumped shortly after the start, shifted in before being corrected by its rider.
 
BRAVE HOSHI – Rider L. Tarrant reported that the filly raced greenly throughout. Approaching the 600m, raced in restricted room and had to be steadied from the heels of LEEANNIE which shifted in and away from TOUR DE FIELD.
 
MILEY'S MEMORY – Jumped outwards at the start bumping TOUR DE FIELD. A short distance later then bumped with SWITCH AND SLIDE.
 
QUEEN'S ARMS – Raced wide throughout.
 
OMILANA – Held up for clear running during the early part of the home straight.
 
LEEANNIE – Hampered shortly after the start when racing between SWITCH AND SLIDE and BRAVE HOSHI, both of which shifted ground. On return to scale, the tongue tie on the filly had become partially displaced during the event.
 
CYBERWARS – Stewards noted trainer H. Pages’ explanation for the late declaration of rider. Jockey T. Marshall reported that the filly raced greenly throughout, and that he had recommended to connections the addition of blinkers to the filly’s gear.
 
Race 3: QUBE LOGISTICS Maiden Plate 1000 metres
 
TUANAKI CREEK – Raced wide throughout.
 
PUZZLE DESIGNER – Slow to begin.
 
ZEPHALONG – Held up for clear running rounding the home turn.
 
KANAIRD – Raced greenly under pressure in the home straight.
 
 
Race 4: CORONIS REAL ESTATE QTIS Three-Year-Old Maiden Handicap 1000 metres
 
A LADIES DREAM – Slow to begin. Jockey M. Harley reported that the gelding travelled well until placed under pressure in the straight and was disappointing. A post race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities.
 
CHRISTMAS TIME – As J. Huxtable was not riding at today’s meeting, he was replaced by M. Cahill. Slow to begin.
 
POLARISING – Raced wide throughout. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
I AM TAKINGTHELOT – Began awkwardly.  
 
IT'S HELLS BELLS – Raced wide throughout.
 
BERAKAHQUINN – Hampered shortly after the start. Improved onto heels at the 700m and shifted wider. Raced in restricted room leaving the 600m. Leaving the 500m had to be steadied when racing in restricted room.
 
LICENCED AND READY – A post race veterinary examination revealed the filly to have lacerations to the left hock consistent with being galloped on.
 
 
Race 5: FOLLOWMONT TRANSPORT QTIS Three-Year-Old BENCHMARK 65 Handicap 1400 metres
 
THORPE – Commenced to over race after being crossed passing the 1200m.
 
DWINDLING SPIRIT – Had to have its tongue tie refitted on arrival at the barriers. Slow to begin. Approaching the 200m obliged to shift out to secure clear running after improving onto heels of WHAT’S UP HONEY.
 
LADY LE DA – Raced wide throughout. Inconvenienced leaving the 200m and carried wider from the heels of THESECONDATPORTSEA which shifted out and away from the heels of HATTUSA.
 
OCEAN ZAR – Jockey B. Thompson advised at scale that the filly was left flatfooted when the pace of the race increased at the 700m, however once balanced in the home straight finished off the race well.
 
GLIDE ON BY – A post race veterinary examination revealed a poor post race recovery.
 
HATTUSA – Approaching the 200m shifted in and away from THORPE and brushed WHAT’S UP HONEY and became unbalanced, shifted out before being corrected by its rider then shifted in and bumped heavily with WHAT’S UP HONEY and again became unbalanced. A post race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.
 
THESECONDATPORTSEA – Leaving the 200m, had to be steadied away from the heels of HATTUSA which shifted out when racing greenly under pressure.
 
SIZZLING GAL – Trainer L. Birchley was fined $100 pursuant to LR67(1) for the late declaration of rider. As the mare had raced at Ipswich on Thursday the 13th of July, underwent a pre race veterinary examination and was cleared to start. Began awkwardly and lost ground. Held up for clear running approaching the home turn.
 
WHAT'S UP HONEY – Bumped heavily approaching the 150m by HATTUSA, which shifted in after becoming unbalanced.
 
BETTER STRINGS – Slow to begin.
 
CLEARLY GEORGE – Approaching the 200m was bumped and became awkward at the heels of SIZZLING GAL.  
 
Following the running of this event, the track was upgraded to a Soft 5.
 
 
Race 6: SILVAN RIDGE BENCHMARK 58 Handicap 1600 metres
 
The start of this event was delayed slightly when FORCE ME underwent a pre race veterinary examination on arrival at the barriers at the request of its rider.  
 
ATLANTIC ROYAL – Raced wide throughout. Leaving the 300m was bumped by WITCH DAY.
 
POINT THE WAGON – Lost the off fore plate in running. Apprentice E. Lang was reprimanded pursuant to AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using her whip on six occasions prior to the 100m.
 
SLY CORNER (NZ) – Shifted in at start and bumped THE BRUMBY. When asked to comment on the performance, jockey M. Hellyer stated that the gelding raced well at its last at Kilcoy and with the step up in distance as well as being suited to a bigger track, he was confident of an improved performance. Trainer Mr B. Reardon concurred with jockey Hellyer’s comments.
 
SATASHI – Raced wide until the 1100m.
 
SHEZA FIRECRACKER – Held up rounding the home turn.
 
FIRSTLUV (NZ) – Tightened for racing room at the 1000m when THE BRUMBY shifted in whilst over racing.
 
HARBELLE – Slow to begin.
 
WITCH DAY – Over raced during the early stages. Leaving the 1100m, commenced to over race when being steadied to allow SATASHI to cross. Held up for clear running when awkwardly placed on heels at the 300m, shifted out and bumped ATLANTIC ROYAL.
 
THE BRUMBY – Over raced during the early stages. Improved onto heels approaching the 1100m when the pace of the race slackened.
 
FORCE ME (NZ) – Underwent a veterinary examination at the request of its rider on arrival at the barriers and was cleared to start. Inconvenienced at the 1000m.
 
EARN OUT – Raced wide throughout.
 
CLEARY ADONIS – Over raced during the early stages. Raced wide from the 1200m.
 
 
Race 7: DREAM THOROUGHBREDS Class 2 Handicap 1400 metres
 
JOLLY RUPERT – Bumped on jumping. Approaching the 1000m commenced to race keenly and had to be steadied from heels.
 
TERANGA – Approaching the 250m shifted inwards to secure clear running.
 
SET ABLAZE – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
WHAT A SHAM (NZ) – Bumped on jumping.
 
WINSTON SMURFHILL (NZ) – Trainer N. McCall was fined $200 pursuant to LR67(1) for the late declaration of rider.
 
TRAVOLI – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
 
ARLIZAR – Raced wide throughout. Lost the near fore plate in running.
 
 
Race 8: BULK GROUP BENCHMARK 58 Handicap 1200 metres
 
MY ODDETTE (NZ) – Laid out under pressure leaving the 200m.
 
SARSEN – Held up on heels approaching the 350m and then approaching the 200m was momentarily disappointed for a run between MY ODDETTE and ATOMIC SELFIE, shifted out and bumped ATOMIC SELFIE.
 
ATOMIC SELFIE – Raced wide throughout. Bumped approaching the 100m.
 
SECRET MEMO – Lang – Over raced during the early stages.  Approaching the 150m, laid out and became awkward at the heels of ZI WIN.
 
ZI WIN – As J. Huxtable was not riding, he was replaced by M. Du Plessis.
 
ISRAELITE BAY – Slow to begin.
 
BACK WHEN – Hampered shortly after the start and lost ground. Held up for clear running approaching the home turn.
 
ROSE OF TAORMINA – Raced wide throughout.
 
DAULAT MACHTIGNAGA – Raced wide throughout.
