GENERAL As R Maloney was ill and L Cassidy was injured, riding changes were made as per the race day Summary sheet. Both R Maloney and L Cassidy will require medicals prior to their next race or trial ride. Race 1: PFD FOODSERVICES QTIS Two-Year-Old Maiden Handicap1400 metres ENTERPRISE PRIVATE – Slow to begin. When asked to comment rider K Wilson-Taylor advised the horse was inclined to race greenly at various stages of the event and was disappointing. SHARP DAZZLER – Laid in slightly leaving the 200m. HE'S A PLAYER – Rider J Orman reported after beginning well and with blinkers on for the first time the horse settled in a more forward position than anticipated. WHO ORDERED DAFISH – Bumped heavily at the start when CHAYSER ‘N’ ADAM began awkwardly. Over-raced in the early stages of the event. BEAN ALL OVA – Raced wide for the majority of the event. Approaching the 200m when tiring, momentarily raced in restricted room. CHAYSE 'N' ADAM – After beginning awkwardly, shifted in and bumped heavily with WHO ORDERED DA FISK.Leaving the 200m was awkwardly placed between BEAN ALL OVA and SHARP DAZZLER and had to be steadied. FIREBOLT – Crowded between runners at the start. TWO OF US – Began awkwardly. FORGETS ME NOT – Jumped out at the start. Race 2: NARANGBA VALLEY TAVERN QTIS Three-Year-Old MaidenPlate 1600 metres BAIN – Weakened noticeably from the 700m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the horse to be displaying symptoms of a respiratory issue and as such was stood down pending a satisfactory veterinary certificate including the results of a dynamic endoscopic examination. MOOLOOLABA – Jumped in at the start and bumped DUN WALKIN’. Laid in near the 300m. DUN WALKIN' – After being bumped at the start was then crowded between runners and lost ground. QUEENSWAY – Raced wide in the early stages before progressing forward to race outside the leader from the 800m. Momentarily steadied near the 300m when JAYEMMCEE laid out. JAYEMMCEE – When asked to comment on the performance, rider K Wilson-Taylor reported in his opinion the horse was not suited by the step-up in distance of today’s event. Race 3: BRIGHTWATER HOTEL Class 1 Handicap 1800 metres SIR RANDOLPH – Rider C Bayliss reported in his opinion the gelding never travelled comfortably during the race and was disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. TUKI TWELVE – Slow to begin. Left a rearward trailing position near the 1100m and progressed forward to race outside ethe leader from the 800m. IVANOV – Over-raced in the middle stages.Rider C Robertson was cautioned under AR131(c) for making a celebratory gesture prior to the winning post. TAUPO TIGER – Held up for clear running approaching the home turn. SELFIE TIME (NZ) – Change of tactics, attempt to lead today if circumstances permit. Ridden accordingly. K Wilson-Taylor, rider of SELFIE TIME, was fined $300 under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for use of the whip 7 times prior to the 100m, 2 more than permitted. JANE HIS WIFE – Steadied from the heels of the tiring TUKI TWELVE near the 150m before shifting out to obtain clear running. AMBER BLONDE – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Race 4: THE SPORTS HUB BENCHMARK 70 Handicap 1000 metres BALDASSARE – Slow to begin. THE KEWESS – Slow to begin. ORIENTAL PRINCESS – After beginning awkwardly, blundered a short distance later after contacting the heels of KNOCKNEE. Race 5: COTTON TREE MEATS Maiden Plate 1400 metres BELDEVILE – Raced wide for the majority of the event. Rider A Donald reported she had recommended to connections the horse may benefit from the addition of a tongue tie. COUNTER COMMAND – Jumped out abruptly at the start and bumped HUGH GOTTABEJOKING. Near the 1200m obliged to steady when EIGHT CYCLINDERS shifted in when not fully clear. M Powell, rider of EIGHT CYLINDERS, was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances. HUGH GOTTABEJOKING – Bumped at the start and lost ground. TEPPANYAKI – Raced wide for the majority of the event. VICTORY'S GHOST – Raced wide for the majority of the event. Lost near hind plate in running. MIKKI EIGHT – Slow to begin. NEOCLASSICISM – Rider D Thornton reported it had been his intention to settle in a more forward position, however after being caught wide in the early stages from the wide barrier was restrained to a rearward trailing position with cover near the 1200m. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. STATE A FACT – Raced greenly when placed under pressure in the home straight. KIND WISH – J Bayliss, rider of KIND WISH, was reprimanded under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for use of the whip 7 times prior to the 100m, 2 more than permitted. BROOKLYN DASH – Slow to begin. STANAGE BAY – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Race 6: TROWEL KING PLASTERING Class 3 Handicap 1600 metres LEORED – Stood flat-footed at the start and lost considerable ground. Co-trainer S Mackinnon was advised the horse would require a further barrier certificate prior to its next race start. SHEZA FIRECRACKER – Rider J Stanley reported it had not been his intention to lead, however after beginning well and from the inside draw, he allowed the horse to settle where comfortable in a forward position. SARODEC – Slow to begin. Raced keenly in the early stages and as a result was shifted wider on the track passing the 900m. IRONSIDE – Apprentice J Williams, rider of IRONSIDE, was reminded of his obligations under AR132(6)(b) in using an action with a raised arm above shoulder height when applying the whip. Race 7: MELBOURNE STORM QTIS Three-Year-Old BENCHMARK 68 Handicap 1200 metres KING OF WANCHAI – Slow to begin. MISHANI WARFARE – Slow to begin. Passing the 800m forced wider on the track when JOHN RAMBO shifted out after improving onto heels. J Huxtable, rider of MISHANI WARFARE, was fined $300 under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for use of the whip on six occasions prior to the 100m, one more than permitted. GRANITE PRINCE – Forced wider on the track passing the 800m. JOHN RAMBO – Improved onto heels passing the800m and obliged to race wide from that point. SPOOKY SPIRIT – Approaching the 900m obliged to steady when crossed by NOTED when not fully clear. J Stanley, rider of NOTED, was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances. NOTED – Had difficulty obtaining clear running between the 250m and 100m. VIMINELE – After becoming fractious in the barriers, rider J Bayliss was examined by QAS staff and cleared to ride the horse after his left foot was contacted in the barriers by VIMINELE. J Bayliss was reprimanded under AR 132(5) for use of the whip on 16 times in totality. SOPHIA'S LASS – After being loaded into the barriers, broke through, travelled a short distance, underwent a veterinary examination, and was cleared to start. As a result, this race started 4 minutes past the advertised starting time. Forced wider passing the 800m after improving onto heels when the pace of the race eased. Race 8: SIMON GEORGE & SONS BENCHMARK 58 Handicap 1400 metres ASCOT EXPRESS – Raced in restricted room for a short distance near the 200m. HOTSTEP – Raced wide for the majority of the event. SEEFELD – Change of tactics, more forward today if circumstances permit. After being slow to begin, settled towards the rear of the field. JUNGLE BEAT – Near the 200m taken in slightly when D’ESPIRIT rolled in marginally. D'ESPRIT – Rolled in under pressure near the 200m before being corrected by its rider. ABOVE THE LOT – Rider J Stanley reported the horse felt awkward in its action on pulling up. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities. AWESOME AUDREY – Rider M Hellyer dropped his whip near the 250m. Passing the 200m crowded for room and had to be steadied when CHEROKEE GAIRL laid in before being corrected by its rider. AMBER ONE – Slow to begin. CHEROKEE GIRL – Raced wide for the majority of the event. Laid in passing the 200m.
