Mackinnon SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT From Aquis Beaudesert 25th August 2023 Maiden Hdcp 1650m - AMIRITE: Trainer M. Frappell reported the horse had pulled up well following the disappointing performance, however it now would be his intention to spell AMIRITE. From Kilcoy 26th August Ratings 0-55 Hdcp 1200m – KLINSMANN: Bucked shortly after the start. Trainer T. Lambourn was advised the horse must trial satisfactorily prior to its next race start. GENERAL As apprentice A. Donald was injured, Stewards permitted riding replacements as per the race day summary. Stewards permitted apprentice B. Wheeler to not claim down to his minimum riding weight in race 6 due to the late replacement. Race 1: POWER CIVIL QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD BENCHMARK 62 HANDICAP 1000M SHOW ME MERCY – Jumped in at the start and bumped SPIRIT OF BRODIE. Shifted in under pressure approaching the 200m point. MIGHTY – Cast its off-fore plate in running. Rider J. Orman reported it wasn’t his intention to lead but after beginning well he allowed the filly to stride forward to the lead. SPIRIT OF BRODIE – Bumped at the start. Leaving the 800m became awkwardly placed on the heels of GALWAY HUSSLER which shifted in and away from MIGHTY. Raced keenly during the middle stages. TRICKETEER – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Rider B. Thompson reported at scale that the gelding didn’t travel comfortably when racing further back than anticipated and was disappointed in its finishing effort. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. NOBLE INTENT – On arrival at the barriers the bridle had to be replaced. Raced greenly in the home straight. GALWAY HUSSLER – Approaching the 350m, became momentarily unbalanced when bumped by SHOW ME MERCY. Race 2: MAROOCHYDORE SWANS SENIORS MAIDEN PLATE 1000M PANTHER POWER – Began awkwardly. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. ROMEUS – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Approaching the 800m was obliged to race in restricted room to the inside of SPICY LEGEND, which shifted in when over racing and when awkwardly placed at the heels of RUSTIC BOOM. Continued to race in restricted room until the 600m and had to be eased from heels. RUSTIC BOOM – Raced wide throughout. Leaving the 100m point, shifted in under pressure. L'IL OUTBACK LASS – Rider B. Thompson reported that the mare over raced in the early stages and added that it would take benefit from having its first start in a clockwise direction. READY TO MINGLE – Lost its offside hind plate in running. TYCOON MISTRESS – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be lame in the near foreleg. Trainer’s representative Mr T. Pollard was advised that a veterinary clearance would be required prior to the mare racing again. SPICY LEGEND – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Over raced in the early stages. Approaching the 800m, commenced to race fiercely and became awkwardly placed at the heels of RUSTIC BOOM. Continued to over race until leaving the 600m. Rider M. Cahill reported at scale that the colt would appreciate a step up in distance at its next start. Race 3: BELTECH ENGINEERING CLASS 4 HANDICAP 1800M HYDE – Held up rounding the home turn. SUMMER IN SIAM – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Rider J. Guthmann-Chester advised that he was disappointed in the effort of the gelding however felt that SUMMER IN SIAM is better suited when able to race in a more forward position. Trainer’s representative Mr T. Pollard concurred with the comments of rider Guthmann-Chester and added that he would advise Stewards if anything would come to light in the subsequent days that may have had a bearing on the horses’ performance. CONTRIBUTE (NZ) – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. LATELY (NZ) – Slow to begin. LUVYOUANYTIME – Slow to begin. Rider N. Thomas reported that the gelding failed to travel at any stage and was disappointing. UNCONVENTIONALLADY – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be 4 out of 5 lame in the off foreleg. Trainer N. McCall was advised that the mare would require a veterinary clearance prior to its next start. AMBER BLONDE – Slow to begin. Race 4: CORIZONE BUILDING FILLIES AND MARES BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP 1300M FAT FINGERS (NZ) – Carried wider shortly after the start. Disappointed for a run at the 150m point and had to be steadied. SIZZLING GAL – Hampered shortly after the start. Held up upon entrance to the home straight until the 300m. SIMPLY REFUSE – Connections advised that it would be the intention for the mare to be ridden more forward if circumstances permit. Began awkwardly before being ridden forward to secure a mid-field position with cover. FEARLESS THINKING (NZ) – Shifted out shortly after the start. HATTUSA – Carried wider shortly after the start. Held up rounding the home turn until the 300m. SOPHIA'S LASS – Raced keenly in the early stages. LEAN IN – Apprentice E. Lang reported that the mare raced greenly throughout. SKILLED ARTIST – Slow to begin. ARQUERA – Shifted in on jumping. PRINCESS KAYO (NZ) – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Race 5: MAROOCHYDORE OLD BOYS COLTS, GELDINGS AND ENTIRES BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP 1300M ALLORA ENZO (NZ) – Shifted in on jumping. Laid out approaching the 500m. Raced keenly in the early stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the off hind. Trainer M. Laine was advised that the gelding would require a veterinary clearance prior to next racing. BETTER LAD – Near the 500m, shifted out to improve however was unable to when rider M. Cahill kept his racing line. Had to be steadied from heels a short distance later. Jockey M. Powell advised Stewards that he had anticipated racing in a more forward position however the gelding failed to muster sufficient speed at the start which resulted in him settling further back in the field. He added that he was held up rounding the home turn however was happy with the horse’s performance and how it finished the race off. MOUNT FUJI – Began awkwardly. Raced wide throughout. REDSNAP – Began awkwardly. VIRGO VISION – Raced keenly early stages. Approaching the 500m, improved onto heels and had to be steadied. Held up rounding the home turn until approaching the 300m. NITROGLYCERINE – Slow to begin and hampered shortly after. Held up rounding the home turn until approaching the 200m. MASTER RED – Raced keenly early stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Race 6: POWER CIVIL BENCHMARK 70 HANDICAP 1000M GROOMED – Steadied leaving the 250m. Steadied approaching the 150m and altered course outwards. A post-race veterinary examination revealed an elevated heart rate and a slow recovery. Stewards inquired into the riding tactics adopted by the rider J. Orman in the home straight, and after taking initial evidence, Stewards adjourned the matter to a time and date to be fixed. KEETA – Raced wide throughout. WINE NOT ROSES – Held up rounding the home turn. EVERLASTING STARS – Raced wide with cover throughout. Race 7: MAROOCHYDORE SWANS SENIORS CLASS 2 HANDICAP 1000M CORFE CASTLE – Approaching the 500m, improved onto heels and had to be steadied. STRIKING PLAINS (NZ) – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Held up rounding the home turn. Approaching the 50m point, was obliged to shift wider after improving onto heels. CHIKARA – Over raced in the early stages. CANNY IMPACT – Approaching the 200m, inconvenienced and obliged to shift away from the heels of SNEAKY STARTER which shifted out under pressure. SET TO SHINE – Slow to begin. Shifted in under pressure and brushed MISS BOOM BOOM leaving the 200m. MISS BOOM BOOM – At the 150m, brushed SET TO SHINE. SNEAKY STARTER – Raced wide throughout. Shifted out under pressure over the final 200m. Race 8: JOHNSTON RACING CLASS 2 HANDICAP 1600M VOLDEMORT – Raced in restricted room approaching the 1300m. Over-raced in the middle stages when the pace of the race steadied. ANCIENT EGYPT – Slow to begin. Held up in the early stages of the home straight. COPPLESON (NZ) – Slow to begin. Over-raced in the middle stages when the pace of the race steadied. Leaving the 400m, became awkward at the heels of ANCIENT EGYPT which shifted out to improve. Jockey J. Orman, the rider of ANCIENT EGYPT, was severely reprimanded for the is incident pursuant to AR 131(a). HOTSTEP – Over-raced in the middle stages when the pace of the race steadied. JETFOIL – Raced in restricted room approaching the 1300m and had to be steadied from the heels of UNZAGA which was carried in by VOLDEMORT who in turn was taken in by YOWIE. SET ABLAZE – Raced wide throughout. HARMONY REIGNS (NZ) – Over raced in the early stages. Held up rounding the home turn. YOWIE – Approaching the 1300m, shifted in despite the efforts of its rider. The trainer W. Nugent reported that post-race the mare had minor superficial cuts to the near hind leg. UNZAGA – Raced in restricted room approaching the 1300m.
