QUEENSLANDRACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT SUNSHINE COAST TUESDAY 7th NOVEMBER 2023 WEATHER – Fine TRACK RATING – Soft 7 RAIL – 5m entirePENETROMETER – 6.76 OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – J WilliamsonStewards – K Daly, S Heidke, A SchofieldClerk of Scales – J RobinsonJudge – P ChiltonVeterinarian – Dr S FlynnSwab Attendants – O LuchtenbergStarter – D Breed, S Mackinnon SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT From 24th May 2023 – Trainer Adam Briskey: Trainer A Briskey pleaded guilty and was fined $400 under AR252A in that as a licensed trainer, during a stable inspection on the 24th of May 2023, he did have in his possession at his registered stable a bottle of Hemoplex, a product that contains cobalt salts. GENERAL Stewards approved the following over weights at today’s meeting:Race 2: MORGAN’S SMILE – M Powell 56kg (+1kg)Race 2: EVANESCENT – A Allen 55kg (+1kg) Race 1: PROTECTORAL MAIDEN HANDICAP 1000M APPLETONS – Bumped at the start and lost ground. THE FIXER – Raced wide without cover the majority of the event. Stable foreman Mr R O’Connor, representative for trainer J Bruce, was reprimanded under AR227(a) for negligence in that he collected the wrong saddle for THE FIXER prior to the horse’s engagement in Race 1. DAINTREE DREAMING – Slow to begin. SAINTS WATER – Slow to begin. SMART RECOGNITION – Began awkwardly. Over-raced in the early stages of the event. Laid in under pressure in the early stages of the home straight. Rider J Huxtable reported after the horse travelled comfortably in the run, he was disappointed with the finishing effort of SMART RECOGNITION when placed under pressure in the home straight. WHAT A WEEKEND – Passing the 300m obliged to shift in to obtain clear running.Raced wide for the majority of the event. RUPERT'S JEWELL – Raced wide for the majority of the event. WEMYSS – Raced wide for the majority of the event. ANGRY BET – Slow to begin. A Allen, rider of ANGRY BET, was fined $400 under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for use of the whip on 6 occasions prior to the 100m, one more than permitted. Lost the off hind plate in running. SEIRYU – Held up for clear running approaching and rounding the home turn. GYPSY WHITE SOCKS – Jumped out at the start and bumped APPLETONS. Raced wide for the majority of the event. ISLAND LADY – Lost near fore plate in running. Race 2:NOT YOUR GRANDMA'S ROSÉ RATINGS BAND 0 - 55 HANDICAP 1000M BABU KING – Raced wide for the majority of the event. IT'S HELLS BELLS – Slow to begin. Hung in under pressure over the concluding stages. POCKETROCKET – Slow to begin. Over-raced in the early stages of the event.Held up for clear running between the 500m until a point passing the 300m. GOLD REVOLUTION – Jumped in at the start. R Wiggins reported that his mount hung in under pressure and was disappointing over the final 200m. TWOSEY – Began awkwardly and lost ground. YAMUMZA – Crowded at the start between runners and lost ground. MORGAN'S SMILE – Raced wide for the majority of the event. M Powell, rider of MORGAN’S SMILE, was reprimanded under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for use of the whip on 6 occasions prior to the 100m, one more than permitted. EVANESCENT – Jumped out at the start. Slow to muster speed in the early stages of the event. CAPITAL MEG – Raced wide for the majority of the event. Race 3: HAYMANS CALOUNDRA & BEERWAH CLASS 2 HANDICAP 1000M DEMON BLOOD – Inclined to lay out rounding the home turn. THE POWER OF ONE – After being late to arrive on-course due to transport difficulties,underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start. EVELYN SALT – Began very awkwardly and lost significant ground on jumping. Trainer J Johnston was advised a warning would be placed on the horse’s barrier manners. Race 4: KABOOM CONCRETE PUMPING BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP 2200M PRESSFAL – Raced greenly when placed under pressure in the home straight. SOOBPURB DANCER – Hampered on jumping and lost ground. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a laceration to the near foreleg. Trainer M Butler was advised the horse would require a veterinary certificate prior to its next race start. SECRET RED – Slow to begin. Approaching the 100m disappointed for clear running and obliged to alter to the inside to secure clear running. ZELSON – Began awkwardly. ANOTHER DAZZLER – Approaching the winning post on the first occasion inclined to lay in. SCILAGO – Raced wide from the 900m. EARN OUT – Over-raced in the early stages and as a result near the 1400m shifted wider on the track and progressed forward to race outside the leader near the 1100m. LA VITTORIA – Over-raced in the early stages. Raced wide from the 1100m. Race 5: FRASER-KIRK PLASTIC SURGERY BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP 1600M LOOSE UNIT – Hampered near 1200m. Blundered after being taken out and contacting the heels of TONI TOO near the 1100m. BETTER YET – Checked near the 1200m. At a subsequent inquiry J Adams, rider of HOT BANANAS, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR131(a) in that near the 1200m, he permitted his mount to shift in when restraining whilst insufficiently clear of BETTER YET which was crowded for room and had to be checked. LOOSE UNIT and GRANNYS REWARD, which were following, were hampered as a consequence. The license of J Adams to ride in races was suspended for a period of 8 days to commence midnight 7th November up to and including 15th November 2023. Near the 1100m when the pace of the race was steady, shifted out after being brushed by VICTORY ‘S GHOST, resulting in LOOSE UNIT contacting the heels of TONI TOO and blundering. GRANNY'S REWARD – Shifted in abruptly at the start and checked SET ABLAZE. Hampered near 1200m. Held up for clear running between the 500m until a point near the 250m. SET ABLAZE – Checked at the start and lost ground. When the pace of the race eased significantly near the 1300m progressed forward and obliged to race wide for the remainder of the event. Laid in when weakening in the home straight. VICTORY'S GHOST – Checked from heels of COOL MUSICwhen the pace of the race eased significantly near the 1200m and again near the 1100m. L Tarrant, rider of COOL MUSIC, was reprimanded under AR131(d) for excessively slowing the pace near the 1200m. When continuing to over-race and the pace was steady, shifted out passing 1100m taking BETTER YET out. TONI TOO – Slow to begin. Raced wide for the majority of the event. MOTTRAM – Steadied from heels when the pace of the race eased significantly near the 1200m and again near the 1100m. Race 6: PALM LAKE RESORT PELICAN WATERS BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP 1300M ALL THE SHOPS – Commenced to hang out from the 800m until the entrance of the home straight. Near the 450m, after shifting to the outside of MONEY MAN, continued to hang out despite the efforts of its rider and checked RUM REVOLUTION. Trainer J Sweeney was advised ALL THE SHOPS must trial satisfactorily prior to its next race start. Rider Y Lewis dropped her near side rein passing the 300m placing her at disadvantage for a short distance. MONEY MAN – Held up for clear running between the 600m and the entrance to the home straight. J Franklin, rider of MONEY MAN, was reprimanded under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for use of the whip on 6 occasions prior to the 100m, one more than permitted. GOLLY HUTT – Hampered near the 450m when steadied from RUM REVOLUTION. BIRMINGHAM – A post-race veterinary examination revealed lacerations to both hind legs, consistent with having been galloped on. GLEN MASSEY – Began awkwardly and lost ground. PRETTY LITTLE LASS – Near the 1100m steadied to avoid the heels of TANTRUMS which shifted in. RUM REVOLUTION – Checked near the 450m when ALL THE SHOPS hung out. TANTRUMS – Began awkwardly. BETTER STRINGS – Slow to begin. CANNON HILL – Held up for clear running rounding the home turn.
