GENERAL
Stewards approved the following overweights:
Race 3. J. Orman +0.5kg
Race 4. D. Smith +0.5kg
 
As jockey A. Thompson was injured and apprentice B. Wheeler had transport difficulties, rider changes were as per the Raceday Summary Sheet. 
 
Race 1: ACCESS INSULATION COLTS, GELDINGS & ENTIRES CLASS 1 HANDICAP 1000 Metres
 
The start of this race was delayed when the noseband had to be reattached to OUR ROCKETMAN.
 
ALLUDE – Slow to begin.
 
HE'S ESSENTIAL – Over raced at heels when the pace of the race slackened near the 700m, shifted out as a result before racing three wide without cover for the remainder.
 
OUR ROCKETMAN – As the start of this race was effected, rider J. Bayliss did not have his foot secured in the near side iron causing him to become very awkward in the saddle, almost being dislodged and OUR ROCKETMAN losing significant ground.
 
SON OF BEEBEE – Began awkwardly.
 
BALALAIKA BIRD – Began awkwardly. Laid out under pressure in the home straight.
 
 
Race 2: ACCESS INSULATION FILLIES & MARES CLASS 1 HANDICAP  1000 Metres
 
EVERLASTING STARS – Began awkwardly. Raced wide throughout.
 
SOOBLOND – Steadied from heels approaching the 600m when the pace of the race slackened.
 
TANTRUMS – Began awkwardly. Rider D. Smith reported that he was disappointed in the effort of the mare and had recommended to connections that TANTRUMS would benefit from a spell.
 
YOU ESS ESS ARE – Laid in early stages of the home straight and made contact with the running rail.
 
ALPHA JANE – Began awkwardly, then tightened for room and lost ground. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
CAPITAL MEG – Slow to begin.
 
Race 3: STANLEY RIVER THOROUGHBREDS OPEN HANDICAP       1200 Metres
 
The start of this event was delayed when KAVAK lost its near fore plate enroute to the barriers and required re-plating.
 
MONTENEGRO MAN – Jockey L. Tilley was examined by the club doctor after striking his left knee on the barrier partition when riding at Ipswich earlier in the day and was cleared to fulfil his engagements. Improved onto heels passing the 500m and then held up for clear running until the 400m.
 
RITANI (NZ) – Tightened for room shortly after start and lost ground.
 
OVIDIUS – Began awkwardly. Held up rounding the home turn until the 300m.
 
RISING – Raced wide throughout.
 
BOLD AND LUCY – Tightened for room shortly after start and lost ground.
 
HARD LANDING – Began awkwardly.
 
GOOD CHAT – Apprentice T. Leslight reported that GOOD CHAT travelled strongly until asked for an effort passing the 400m and the gelding failed to respond and weakened badly in the straight. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be displaying a cardiac arrythmia. Trainer D. Forster was advised that GOOD CHAT will require a veterinary clearance including the satisfactory results of an ECG, prior to trialling to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to its next start.
 
AMERICAN PRESIDENT – Leaving the 900m tightened for room and restrained from the heels of RISING which shifted in. Rider K. Wilson-Taylor was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances. Raced wide throughout. Lost the off fore plate in running.
 
Race 4: STANLEY RIVER THOROUGHBREDS RATINGS BAND 0 - 58 HANDICAP       1600 Metres
 
BRAZEN IMPACT – Raced wide throughout.
 
SET ABLAZE – Slow to begin. Had difficulty securing clear running rounding the home turn.
 
HELL OF A PRINCE – Over raced passing the 1200m when being restrained to obtain cover and continued to over race until leaving the 1000m. Steadied when racing in restricted room near the 900m. Inconvenienced slightly passing the 200m when BAMBALAM shifted out under pressure and again near the 100m.
 
MAPLE DOOR – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Approaching the 1400m, was steadied from heels. Held up for clear running at the heels of BOLD SPLENDOUR passing the 400m.
 
PEDAL TO THE METAL – Raced wide throughout. Whilst weakening was inconvenienced rounding the home turn when tightened for room. A post race veterinary examination revealed a laceration to the near hind leg.
 
SOCK'EMSID – Raced wide in the early stages.
 
BOLD SPLENDOR – Slow to begin.
 
BAMBALAM – Rider M. Du Plessis reported that the gelding hung out for the majority. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
After the running of this event, Stewards initially delayed the running of Race 5 due to storm activity in the area. After consultation with the Trainer’s Association and riders engaged at the meeting at 8.30pm, Stewards agreed to continue to delay the race meeting and consult with the Bureau of Meteorology again at 9.15pm. After these actions were undertaken and following further consultation with participants, the remainder of the meeting was called off at 9.30pm due to ongoing storm activity and forecasted ongoing storm activity.
