SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT
 
From Doomben April 13th 2024 - Race 1: Trainer representative for the Chris Waller stable, Mr B Killion, advised that USEAPIN would now be spelled.
 
 
Race 1: TAB MAIDEN PLATE       1600 M
 
ALIGN THE PLANETS – Had difficulty obtaining clear running between the 300m and 200m.
 
IL TORO D'ORO – Jumped out at the start and bumped CAESAR CAKE. Raced wide from the 800m.
 
SHAMUKA – Obliged to shift inapproaching the 1200m.
 
THE IRISH – Slow to begin
 
CAESAR CAKE – After being slow to begin was then bumped by IL TORO D’ORO and lost ground. Steadied from heels near the 1200m.
 
HUKA – Raced wide throughout.
 
BETTER BE BRIEF – After being loaded into the barriers reared resulting in both front legs becoming cast, was removed, underwent a veterinary examination and was cleared to start. Trainer A Campton was advised a warning would be placed on the barrier manners of BETTER BE BRIEF. Mr Campton indicated he would now consider the immediate racing future of the horse. Approaching the 1200m steadied when crowded for room when SHAMUKA was taken in by ALMANDEZ. CAESAR CAKE, which was following, was obliged to steady from the heels of BETTER BE BRIEF as a consequence.  J Guthmann-Chester, rider of ALMANDEZ, was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances.
 
 
 
Race 2: HAYMANS ELECTRICAL, DATA & AIRCON - CALOUNDRA CLASS 1 HANDICAP      1200 M
 
ELLIBABY – Over-raced and inclined to lay out in the early and middle stages. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.Lost off hind plate in running.
 
FINAL SELECTION – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Laid in during the early stages of the home straight.
 
SHEZA MARVEL – Over-raced when being restrained near the 800m. When asked to comment on the performance rider D Thornton could offer no explanation for the disappointing performance.  A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow post-race recovery.
 
TORQUE ABOUT MAGIC – Jumped out at the start.
 
JUST LOOKING – Began awkwardly. Over-raced in the middle stages.
 
CLAUDIUS – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Raced wide throughout.
 
 
 
 
Race 3: K SMITH & SON JEWELLERS RATINGS BAND 0 - 58 HANDICAP          1000 M
 
WARRIOR JACK – Bumped near the 600m. Raced wide throughout.
 
CURRY LEGEND – Began awkwardly resulting in the left elbow of apprentice J Williams contacting the outside barrier partition. J Williams was examined by the club doctor and cleared to fulfill his remaining engagements.
 
EARLSTON – Rider M Hellyer reported the horse was inclined to lay in for the majority of the event.
 
SATURDAY GLORY – Fractious after being loaded into the barriers and as a result was slow to begin.
 
OUR BLING – Near the 600m shifted out and bumped WARRIOR JACK.
 
 
 
Race 4: PELICAN WATERS GOLF CLUB BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP          1000 M
 
I AM A MARVEL – Raced wide for the majority.
 
CABRINELLA – Inclined to lay in throughout the event, particularly when placedunder pressure in the home straight.Raced wide for the majority. B Wheeler, rider of CABRINELLA, was reprimanded under AR132(5) for use of the whip on 15 occasions throughout the race.
 
PIANIST – Slow to begin. Momentarily held up near the 300m.
 
WHAT A SHAM – Held up for clear running near the 200m and had to be steadied.
 
 
 
Race 5: BOLD DESIGN KITCHENS QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN HANDICAP   1200 M
 
The start of this event was delayed approximately 3 minutes when a member of the public was walking a dog on the outside of the course proper near the 600m.
 
FOURANDAHALF – Held up for clear running rounding the home turn.
 
OLE BAZZLE – Raced wide for the majority before being taken wider on the track near the 600m when TORERA shifted out to improve.
 
BOLD AS BRASS – Crowded for room approaching the 900m.
 
WATERMELON – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Held up for clear running rounding the home turn.
 
TORERA – Slow to begin. Raced wide from the 600m.
 
TORNADO TORQUE – Laid in near the 900m before being restrained from heels a short distance later.
 
RUMBLING AWAY – Near the 900m crowded for room and had to be restrained from the heels of BOLD AS BRASS when that runner was taken in by TORNDO TORQUE, which after being inclined to lay in and away from MOONFLEET, had to steadied when taken in further by MOONFLEET. BALLROOM BLITZ, which was following, was restrained from the heels of RUMBLING WAY as a consequence. J Huxtable, rider of MOONFLEET, was reprimanded under AR131(a) for careless riding in this incident.
 
BALLROOM BLITZ – Steadied from heels near the 900m.
 
 
 
Race 6: PROLIQUOR BENCHMARK 62 HANDICAP        1400 M
 
ADONISEA – Laid in under pressure near the 150m.
 
TUKI TWELVE – Rider J Bayliss reported it was not his intention to lead, however after beginning well he elected to allow TUKI TWELVE to stride forward and lead the event.
 
PROUD WITH PRIDE – Slow to begin.
 
IOANE – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Held up approaching he home turn.
 
 
 
Race 7: CALOUNDRA RSL CLASS 3 HANDICAP  1600 M
 
MOTION LEGEND – When asked to comment on the performance, rider J Orman stated the horse travelled comfortably in the early stages of the event however near the 800m, after HARD OFFER had improved to its outside, MOTION LEGEND resented racing to the inside of that horse and was obliged to pressure MOTION LEGEND from that point. Trainer J Bruce was reprimanded under AR194 for failing to have MOTION LEGEND in the saddling enclosure by the prescribed time.
 
HOUSTON ROCKET – From the wide barrier restrained shortly after the start to a rearward position closer to the rails.
 
TANGO FAME – Slow to begin.
 
VANTAN EXPRESS – Over-raced for a short distance near the 1200m.
 
FUSAICHI FAMILY – Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
REEL WILD – Slow to begin.
 
HARD OFFER – Momentarily awkwardly placed at the heels of SIAN STAR approaching the 200m. Raced wide for the majority of the event.
