Allen +1kg All runners in the 2YO Ken Russell underwent pre-race veterinary trot ups on the 10/05/2024 and were cleared to start. As Jockey M. Dee was suspended, Stewards permitted rider changes as per the Race Day Summary. Race 1: LEAPFROGGER BENCHMARK 85 HANDICAP 1200 M FULL RECOGNITION – Raced wide throughout. ARTS OBJECT – Began awkwardly. Laid out during the home straight. ROLLINWITHTHEFLOW – Over raced in the early stages. APOPHIS – Over raced in the early stages. SPOOKY SPIRIT – Momentarily raced in restricted room near the 300m. Apprentice C. Graham reported that her mount hung out in the home straight placing her at a disadvantage. SET ME UP – Very slow to begin. SIZZLING GAL – Stood flat footed. Trainer L. Birchley was advised a warning would be placed on the mare. Obliged to alter course approaching the winning post after improving onto the heels of APOPHIS. Race 2: PFD FOODSERVICES GOLD COAST CUP 2400 M GIDDY GAN'S JOY – Over raced in the early and middle stages. Laid out under pressure in the home straight. CONTRITION (NZ) – Slow to begin. Raced wide for the majority. RATTLE AND HUM (IRE) – Began awkwardly. When asked to comment on today’s performance, Jockey K. Wilson-Taylor stated that in his opinion his mount failed to handle today’s track conditions. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. TAPILDOODLEDO (NZ) – Raced wide majority. Shifted out under pressure over the concluding stages. TAPPY'S LAD (NZ) – Approaching the 1200m, improved onto heels and had to be steadied. Jockey T. Thornton was reminded of her obligation to not use her whip forward of her horse’s shoulder. BAK DA MAN (NZ) – A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. RHODES – Began awkwardly. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Race 3: ATTWOOD MARSHALL LAWYERS SILK STOCKING 1400 M THALASSOPHILE – Shifted off hind plate in running. PRINCESS RHAENYS – Laid out under pressure in the home straight. PARTY FOR ONE – When asked to comment on today’s performance, Jockey T. Berry stated that his mount travelled well throughout, however when asked for an effort in the home straight, failed to let down as expected. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. QUEENMAKER – Over raced in the middle stages. SONORA – Leaving the 150m, shifted out under pressure and had to be corrected. TOJAKI – Raced wide throughout. Shifted out leaving the 400m and bumped SEBRING GIRL. CRAZY TRAIN – Held up rounding the home turn until approaching the 150m. STAR OF CHAOS – Passing the 100m had to be steadied to avoid the heels of PRINCESS RHAENYS (V. Duric). Jockey V. Duric was advised to exercise greater care when shifting ground in future. POETIC DRAMA (NZ) – Slow to begin. RENOUF – Slow to begin. Over raced in the early stages. Leaving the 1100m had to be steadied from the heels of CRAZY TRAIN after the pace of the race slackened. Held up rounding the home turn up until leaving the 200m. SEBRING GIRL – Bumped leaving the 400m. Race 4: TAB KEN RUSSELL MEMORIAL CLASSIC 1200 M BEAU DAZZLER (NZ) – Slow to begin. VOLATILE – Began awkwardly. Raced keenly in the middle stages. Laid out whilst weakening over the final 100m. When asked to comment on today’s performance, Jockey T. Berry stated his mount raced keenly in the middle stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. GIN A TONIC – Raced greenly in the home straight. ALPHA BRAVO – Began awkwardly. Raced wide throughout. BALASTIER – Laid out in the home straight and was eased down over the final 100m. When asked to comment on today’s performance, Jockey R. Maloney reported his mount over raced during the event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the colt to be lame in its off-foreleg and displaying a respiratory noise. Trainer T. Gollan was advised BALASTIER would require a veterinary clearance inclusive of endoscopic results prior to racing again. BARBARIC LAD – Began awkwardly. Approaching the 1100m was momentarily inconvenienced and had to shift in to avoid the heels of VOLATILE. SILVA 'N' SUAVE – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was subsequently cleared to start. AQUAHOLIC – Raced keenly in the middle stages. TERRITORY ASH – Slow to begin. PULPIT – Slow to begin. KALUAKOI – Began awkwardly. RUNAWAY TYCOON – Raced wide throughout. ZOULAR – Began awkwardly. Approaching the 600m, had to be steadied when racing in restricted room. Improved onto the heels of the tiring VOLATILE near the 50m and had to be checked. Race 5: AUSTRALIAN TURF CLUB TROPHY 1200 M THE BIG GOODBYE – Began awkwardly. Trainer R. Heathcote was reprimanded pursuant to AR 206(3) for presenting to the enclosure with the incorrect gear. YELLOW BRICK – Raced wide throughout. IRISH SONGS – Held up until approaching the 250m. NETTUNO – Bumped on the hind quarters shortly after the start. Laid in for the majority of the event. When asked to comment on today’s performance, Jockey R. Maloney stated he could offer no explanation for the disappointing performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Trainer T. Gollan advised he would report back on the condition of the gelding in the following days. FREEDOM RALLY – Leaving the 1000m, inconvenienced when awkwardly placed at the heels of NETTUNO which laid in. SIR WARWICK – Over raced approaching the 900m. Raced wide throughout. Trainer J. Capewell was fined $100 pursuant to LR67(1) for failing to declare a rider within the prescribed time. AT WITZ END – Raced wide for the majority. NED'S GULLY – Began awkwardly. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. MILLANE – Began awkwardly and shifted out bumping with NETTUNO and losing ground. CRYPTO CURRENCY – Approaching the 900m when racing keenly, laid in before being corrected. Race 6: BRANDONS ELECTRICAL GOLD COAST GUINEAS 1200 M The start of this event was delayed approximately 6 minutes after DEEP RESPECT lost a near fore plate and required farrier attention. CIFRADO – Laid out under pressure in the home straight. BASES LOADED – Began awkwardly and shifted out. XIDAKI – Bumped on jumping. MORAVIA – Shifted in on jumping and bumped XIDAKI. Laid in over the concluding stages before being corrected. DEEP RESPECT – Raced without both front plates after being unable to be reshod behind the barriers. JUNGLE PRINCE (NZ) – Approaching the 900m, raced in restricted room and bumped BERNICE’S SPIRIT. Raced greenly in the home straight. ROLL ON HIGH – Slow to begin. BERNICE'S SPIRIT – Hampered on jumping. Approaching the 900m, commenced to race keenly and had to be eased from heels. Race 7: TAB A.D. HOLLINDALE STAKES 1800 M NUMERIAN (IRE) – Raced wide throughout. HUETOR (FR) – When asked to comment on today’s performance, Jockey T. Berry stated that he wasn’t disappointed with today’s effort as he felt the tempo of the race was not suited although the gelding finished off well. He also added that HUETOR had dropped back from 2000m and would derive benefit from today’s race. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. LE DON DE VIE (GB)– Hampered shortly after the start. When asked to comment on today’s performance, Jockey J. Orman stated after being first up from a long break, he was of the opinion that the gelding would derive benefit from today’s race. KOVALICA (NZ) – Raced wide throughout. UNSPOKEN (IRE) – Shifted out on jumping. HOO YA MAL (GB) – Hampered shortly after the start. Momentarily inconvenienced on entering the home straight. MIGHTY ULYSSES (GB) – Over raced in the early and middle stages. Approaching the 1100m shifted out and raced wide from that point. NAVAL COLLEGE (GB) – A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Trainers representative T. Pollard advised he would report back on the condition of the gelding in the following days. JIMI HENDRIX (IRE) – Shifted in on jumping. Over raced in the early and middle stages. Race 8: CHANNEL 7 GOLD COAST BRACELET 1800 M MOLLY BLOOM (NZ) – Approaching the 1400m, shifted in after being bumped by MARE OF MT BULLER. Held up for clear running on entering the home straight. Approaching the 300m had to be steadied after becoming awkwardly placed at the heels of the weakening PIER PRESSURE and as a result had to shift wider to improve. MISS JOELENE – Raced wide early. BRIGHT RED – Slow to begin. MARE OF MT BULLER – Disappointed for a run on entering the home straight. Passing the 400m, was carried wider by MOLLY BLOOM (NZ) (O. Bosson) and as a result became awkwardly placed on heels for a stride. Jockey O. Bosson was advised to exercise greater care when shifting ground. KIND WORDS – Had difficulty obtaining clear running on entering the home straight. MOSZUR – Began awkwardly and lost ground. SHOWDRA – Raced wide early. RACE ACE (NZ) – Approaching the 1400m, raced in restricted room and had to be steadied from the heels of MOLLY BLOOM (NZ) when that runner shifted in. FIRESTORM (NZ) – Approaching the 1200m, had to be steadied from the heels of PIER PRESSURE. When asked to comment on today’s performance, Jockey J. McDonald stated that in his opinion the filly did not appreciate today’s track conditions. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow recovery. REDBREAST – When asked to comment on today’s performance, Jockey T. Clark stated his mount raced keenly throughout and, in his opinion, may not have appreciated today’s track conditions. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow recovery. TRUE FAIRY – Slow to begin. Race 9:XXXX BAT OUT OF HELL 1000 M ALL THAT PIZZAZZ – Shortly after jumping away was inconvenienced by YOU’LL BE MSIT (S. Cormack) which shifted in. Jockey S. Cormack was advised to exercise greater care when shifting. Momentarily held up for clear running passing the 250m. RUBIQUITOUS – Approaching the 900m shifted in and bumped HARDWARE LANE, a short distance later was crowded for room to the inside of YOU’LL BE MIST (S. Cormack) and had to be steadied. Jockey S. Cormack was severely reprimanded pursuant to AR 131(a) for this incident. EF TROOP – Bumped on jumping. Approaching the 150m had to be steadied after becoming awkwardly placed at the heels of ECONOMICS. YOU'LL BE MIST – Passing the 600m, raced in restricted room to the inside of ECONOMICS (J. Bayliss) which shifted in. Jockey J. Bayliss was advised to exercise greater care when shifting. Stewards accepted the explanation for the late rider declaration of rider from Trainer D. Hansen and took no further action. ECONOMICS – Shortly after the start had to be steadied and was taken inwards to avoid the heels of FLAMING CONQUEST (G. Cartwright) which shifted in when not fully clear. Jockey G. Cartwright was severely reprimanded pursuant to AR 131(a) for this incident. Shifted off hind plate in running. LA AMIGO – Approaching the 900m, had to be checked after becoming awkwardly placed on the heels of RUBIQUITOUS which had to be checked when crowded for room. FLAMING CONQUEST – Trainer D. Murphy was fined $100 pursuant to LR67(1) for failing to declare a rider within the prescribed time. QUEEN ASSASSIN – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be lame in it’s off hindleg. Trainer N. Walsh was advised QUEEN ASSASSIN would require a veterinary clearance prior to racing again. HAKKAI MARU – Slow to begin. HIDDEN WEALTH – Began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped EF TROOP.
