GENERAL
Stewards approved the following overweights:

Race 1: MARTIN COLLINS AUSTRALIA QTIS TWO-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN HANDICAP  1000 Metres
 
UNCLE IAN – Approaching the 900m shifted out and bumped FIREFORCE.
 
SPIRITED – Bumped at the 900m and became unbalanced.
 
MADAME LEXIS – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
 
PARTY ISLAND – Declared a late scratching at 12.43pm when the filly refused to proceed to the barriers. Prior to the declaration of correct weight, Stewards ordered that all bets on PARTY ISLAND be refunded with the following deductions to apply:
 
1st STAR AMBITION 0c win, 0c place
2nd KING SPIRIT 2c place
3rd MACONDA 3c place
 
Trainer H. Page was advised that PARTY ISLAND will require an official barrier trial to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to racing again.
 
RED FEATHER BOA – Underwent a pre race veterinary examination after late arrival on course due to transport difficulties and was cleared to start. Raced in restricted room rounding the home turn to the inside of KING SPIRIT.
 
TAPATI – Raced wide throughout.
 
THE SOUR – Raced wide throughout.
 
RESOLUTE LADY – Began awkwardly. A post race veterinary examination revealed a laceration to the right hindlimb which was treated on course.
 
FIREFORCE – Raced wide throughout. Bumped near the 900m, shifted out and bumped SPIRITED. Near the 200m, momentarily eased from the heels of UNCLE IAN.
 
 
Race 2: DIGITAL VISION DIRECT QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD HANDICAP      1000 Metres
 
CHAKRA BOY – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Near the 750m severely checked and lost ground when TOWN CRIER shifted in abruptly despite the efforts of its rider. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
SOO SWEET – Shifted out and bumped CRESSBROOK. Inconvenienced and shifted wider near the 750m.
 
TOWN CRIER – Shifted in abruptly near the 750m, then continued to lay in for the majority before being inclined to lay out in the home straight. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Co-trainer M. Hoysted was advised that a warning would be placed on the racing manners of the gelding.
 
BEACHSIDE BABE – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
 
CRESSBROOK – Bumped at the start. Bumped with CHAKRA BOY near the 250m.
 
CHERMSIDE – Slow to begin and hampered shortly afterwards. Had difficulty obtaining clear running in the home straight until the 300m, then raced greenly when placed under pressure.
 
 
Race 3: KENDRICK RACING CLASS 3 HANDICAP    1200 Metres
 
STORM THE FORTRESS – Shifted in on jumping and bumped YES TO EXCESS.
 
THANKFUL HEART – A post race veterinary examination revealed the horse to have a slow recovery and was exhibiting clinical signs of the thumps.
 
SURFERS ROYALE – Raced in restricted room in the early part of the home straight when YES TO EXCESS shifted out to improve. When asked to comment on the performance, jockey J. Orman stated that the gelding over raced in the early and middle stages and failed to quicken when placed under pressure in the home straight. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
THE INFLICTOR – Raced wide throughout. Carried wider over the concluding stages when YES TO EXCESS laid out.
 
GALACTIC LEGEND – Had difficulty obtaining clear running until approaching the 150m.
 
HELIKEDEMPRETTY – Raced wide throughout. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
YES TO EXCESS - Began awkwardly and hampered shortly afterwards before mustering speed. Laid out over concluding stages when under hard riding. When asked to comment on the mare’s performance, trainer R. Beaton reported that at its most recent start at Beaudesert the rider reported that the mare did not travel well in the heavy track conditions. Ms Beaton today elected to race the mare in blinkers for the first time to which she attributed the improved performance. Stewards noted Ms Beaton’s comments.
 
 
Race 4: PIERCE AVENUE LODGE PTY LTD MAIDEN HANDICAP         1800 Metres
 
IL TORO D'ORO – Laid in under pressure near the 200m. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
PUNJABI LANDING – Slow to begin. Near the 1300m, inconvenienced and obliged to steady from the heels of IL TORO D’ORO.  
 
BROADWAY SPIRIT – Commenced to weaken from the 300m. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer P. Jenkins advised that BROADWAY SPIRIT would now be spelled.
 
CHAPELLE – Laid in under pressure near the 200m.
 
APFEL (NZ) – Raced greenly over the final 200m obliging its rider to stop and correct her mount on several occasions.   
 
BENFICA LASS – Raced wide throughout.
 
CRIMSON BEAUTY – Approaching the 1300m, raced in restricted room for a number of strides when IL TORO D’ORO was taken inwards by LADY DEANNE which shifted in when not fully clear. Jockey A. Thompson, rider of LADY DEANNE was reprimanded for careless riding pursuant to AR131(a) for this incident. Improved onto heels approaching the 200m and had to be steadied.
 
LADY DEANNE – Raced keenly during the middle stages. Laid in approaching the 200m before being corrected by its rider.
 
THE BEST BAD BOY – Slow to begin.
 
DAWN PARTY – Leaving the 1300m, raced keenly for a short distance when restraining for cover. Laid out over the final 150m.
 
 
Race 5: WILD HORSE TURF BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP         1800 Metres
 
CAPITAN DE SEDA – Slow to begin.
 
SLY CORNER (NZ) – Raced wide throughout. Inclined to lay in under pressure in the home straight.
 
FAST LADY – Cast the near fore plate and required farrier attention on arrival at the barriers and cleared to start.
 
SIMPLY REFUSE – Stood flatfooted and missed the start by a significant distance. Trainer J. Bruce was advised that a warning would be placed on the mare regarding its’ starting manners.  
 
ALPHA JANE – Approaching the 300m, improved onto the heels of the weakening ADELAIDE’S LACE, before shifting wider to secure clear running.
 
ADELAIDE'S LACE – Jockey D. Smith, when asked to comment on the performance, reported that after being ridden along from the barriers to occupy a forward position, ADELAIDE’S LACE refused to settle and over raced. Jockey Smith added that he had recommended to connections to remove the blinkers in an attempt to get the filly to settle. Weakened from the 300m. Post race the filly became fractious in the tie up stalls and sustained an abrasion near the wither region and both stifles. Trainer R. Tyrell was reprimanded pursuant to AR166 in that he did leave ADELAIDE’S LACE unattended. Trainer R. Tyrell was also advised that ADELAIDE’S LACE will require a veterinary clearance prior to racing again.
 
FLASH PRINCE – Slow to begin.
 
 
Race 6: SCOTT MCMAHON ELECTRICAL MAIDEN PLATE      1200 Metres
 
BRAMBLE BAY – Slow to begin.
 
PICKAXE – Raced wide throughout. Bumped leaving the 800m.
 
AIN'T NOBODY – Obliged to steady shortly after the start when INCESSANT shifted in. Leaving the 100m, improved onto heels and unable to be fully tested by its rider.
 
BRING ME SAKI – Began awkwardly and shifted in. Raced wide throughout. Bumped at the 200m.
 
DEPUTIZE – Shifted in on jumping.
 
CAXTON LASS – Over raced in the early stages. Approaching the 200m, bumped with BRING ME SAKI.
 
HOLY CROWN – Slow to begin.
 
TOUCHOFCLASS (NZ) – Shifted in on jumping. Leaving the 800m, improved into heels when over racing, shifted out bumping with PICKAXE.
 
RUBOS – Slow to begin and hampered shortly afterwards. Raced wide throughout.
 
 
Race 7: TAB WINTER SPRINTERS SERIES - HEAT - BENCHMARK 75 HANDICAP    1000 Metres
 
BRING ME KASH – Began awkwardly and shifted out. Laid in when placed under pressure over the final 100m.
 
ECONOMICS – Raced wide throughout. When asked to comment on the performance of the gelding, jockey R. Maloney stated that in his opinion ECONOMICS did not appreciate the addition of blinkers. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
ZOUMETEOR – Held up for clear running approaching the home turn. Disappointed for a narrow run to the inside of BRING ME KASH leaving the 100m.
 
JEMELDI – Tightened between runners at the start and lost ground.
 
MATILLY – Raced wide throughout.
 
ON HOLD – Began awkwardly and shifted out.
