A track inspection conducted at 10.15am resulted in the track being downgraded to a Heavy 10.
 
 
Race 1: BUTLER MCDERMOTT LAWYERS BRUCE MCLACHLAN CLASSIC QTIS 2YO HANDICAP      1000 Metres
 
SHOWS A SIGN – Began awkwardly.
 
HEAD CASE – Slow to begin.
 
RHUMB LINE – Raced wide throughout. Raced in restricted room and had to be eased near the 800m.  
 
SHEHUNGTHEMOON – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Commenced to race ungenerously approaching the 800m and a short distance later had to be steadied from the heels of SHOWS A SIGN and shifted out and became awkward at that runners’ heels and had to be steadied. Stewards issued a reprimand for careless riding pursuant to AR131(a) to rider L. Tilley (SHOWS A SIGN). A post race veterinary inspection revealed a poor recovery.
 
BONFIRE SPARK – Obliged to race in restricted room leaving the 800m and had to be steadied.
 
KING SPIRIT – Raced wide throughout.
 
MISHY – Slow to begin.
 
 
Race 2: SHERRIN RENTALS PROVINCIAL SPRINTERS SERIES (FINAL) BENCHMARK 80 HANDICAP    1200 Metres
 
RALPHIE – Slow to begin.
 
BEAUX RUMBLE – Jockey M. Rodd reported the gelding over raced throughout.
 
ROLLINWITHTHEFLOW – Raced wide throughout. Approaching the 250m, whilst weakening, raced in restricted room for a short distance.
 
ZHUANG SHI – Slow to begin. Over raced during the middle stages.
 
BANDIT – Raced wide throughout.
 
ALL STASHED UP – Raced wide throughout.
 
 
Race 3: CALOUNDRA RSL BENCHMARK 75 HANDICAP       1400 Metres
 
NAVAS TWO – Raced wide throughout.
 
PUNCH LANE – Lost the near hind plate in running. A post race veterinary examination revealed a laceration to the near hind heel.  
 
GALIFIANAKIS (IRE) – Over raced during the early and middle stages.
 
MAJESTIC BOOM – Blundered approaching the 500m. Jockey A. Thompson reported that his mount didn’t handle the heavy track conditions and commenced to weaken from the 600m therefore he desisted from pressuring his mount in the home straight.  A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
BOLD PEDRO – Raced wide throughout.
 
BEDFORD SQUARE (NZ) – Slow to begin.
 
REDWOOD SHADOW (NZ) – Slow to begin.
 
DROP THE MIC – Trainer D. Murphy was reprimanded pursuant to LR36(6)(a) for failing to scratch a dual acceptor by the prescribed time. Raced wide throughout. Laid in under pressure in the early stages of the home straight.  
 
BIRMINGHAM – Raced wide throughout. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
 
Race 4: SUNSHINE COAST BUSINESS SOLUTIONS CLASS 6 PLATE (4YO ONLY)           1000 Metres
 
GOLDSBOROUGH (NZ) – Began awkwardly and bumped with SINGLE TOUCH.
 
VODKA MARTINI – Laid in under pressure during the early stages of the home straight. Trainer K. Schweida advised that the gelding failed to handle the heavy track conditions. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.  
 
HAKKAI MARU – Slow to begin. Jockey R. Dolan reported that he sustained an injury to his right hand during the running of this race.
 
MR GALAZI – Shifted out abruptly near the 150m.
 
SINGLE TOUCH – Bumped on jumping.
 
UNCLE RUSS – Raced wide throughout.
 
BURNISH GOLD – Raced wide throughout. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Blundered near the 50m.
 
Following the running of race 4, a delegation of riders expressed concerns with the state of the track, visibility and the ongoing inclement weather. Stewards, in consultation with the riding delegation, inspected the section of the track leaving the winning post and found that the integrity of the racing surface had deteriorated to a point that it was unsafe to continue to proceed and consequently the remainder of the meeting was called off.
